Yep, did all you receive your Daz newsletter? I think this will make Victoria more incredible. This is going to be great, and she probably won't be much for those who already own her. What does everybody think?

jnmoore ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 6:33 AM

I just hope I won't have to re-do all of my morphs -- LOL

TRAVISB ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 7:03 AM

I think its crap unless there are major changes mike was worth the money to me but victoria wasnt a huge improvment for 60 bucks in my OPINION maybe im jumping the gun and it wont be a large fee but i think tey should have put out some updates to her before chargeing people for them ! just my personal opinion

shadowcat ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 7:28 AM

I didn't get a newslatter (even though I'm on the list) so I went to the DAZ site and all I found was an update (jan 2001) that is for free, and I don't think I have it, so am downloading it just in case. Wonder when they are going to get around to fixing Mike though he needs more help in my opinion.

TRAVISB ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 7:38 AM

the new realese will let you put p4 clothes to conform on vicki (shouldnt the old vicki let you do that ) it also includes more body morphs improved movement it says there will be a small upgrade price

the3dwizard ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 7:43 AM

If you want some P4 cloths to fit Vicky you can purchase my Clothing Morph Kit 2. Plus the clothes themselves have added breast and length morphs. I would be interested in seeing how they make Vicky fit the P4 and her clothes. Unless they change the clothes they will have to resize and morph Vicky for her to fit the P4 clothes. Think about it. Plus none of her breast morphs would work with the P4 clothes, because the default P4 clothes don't have the Vicky breast morphs. You would have to make your own or buy mine ;) I'll have to take a wait and see attitude on Vicky 2.

melanie ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 8:34 AM

I can't wait to get her, and for those of us who already have Vicki, we'll be getting a special upgrade price. As for the clothes, she'll be able to wear both the P4 clothes AND the Vicki clothes, so that's a major step forward! It'll double her wardrobe. I'm so excited. I just wish they would post the images of her NOW! Melanie

shadowcat ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 8:35 AM

not to mention do the same thing for mike (he could really use that tux)

picnic ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 8:43 AM

Well, for those that haven't gotten their newsletter yet (I would bet it has to do with your mail folks--mine just came this morning), here's the quote from the newsletter. I can't imagine the DAZ folks will mind. <<And... Our most KILLER news of the day..... Get Ready...She's coming.....VICTORIA 2.... Victoria 2 will be able to wear any clothing designed to fit the P4 female clothing as well as all the clothing items designed for Victoria 1. Fully equipped with dozens of new morphs (for head, breast, full_body, muscle and joint correction, and more), this will be the most versatile Vicky ever!! Also get ready for new clothing and next generation maps for this soon to come product. There will be a special upgrade pricing for those who've purchased Victoria 1.. Visit the site for details and see some preview images that will be up early the first week in April. Personally, I don't feel they have to give us free upgrades on a continuing basis. Vicky is as she is--for those who don't like her, I would say don't buy her. I like her a lot--others don't. Quite frankly, I haven't understood folks being upset with her 'out of the box' looks. I consider that she is clay to be molded and so many have done such wonderful things with her it seems that the model has lived up to her cost. I guess others don't think so. I will wait and see if Vic2 is worth what they will charge--for ME. It seems as though Daz is doing what so many have asked--but I can't imagine why anyone would think they would do it for free--as an upgrade to Vic (they have said all along that the P4 clothing won't fit Vic1). When someone asks me to design and execute a piece for them, I don't do it for free--even if they own other pieces by me. As Daz said, there is a special upgrade price for those of us that already have Vic. That's how software upgrades work and we are used to that. I don't see this as any different. Not trying to aggravate anyone here, but having been involved in small design businesses for years, one just has to be realistic about charges--and I've found Daz to be pretty reasonable overall. Now, there are some things I don't care for much--I don't really care for the new upsweep hair, for instance. That's personal taste too--so I won't buy it. I say--let's wait until April 1 and see what they are offering. (BTW, what I would REALLY love to have is Anton's and Symphony's new paks from DAZ, but have to wait on that too for the moment S). Diane

picnic .. I think so often the Vicki out of the box it because they don't go past that. I mean even though Poser ships with a bunch of characters I haven't seen many people use them. Also see the default head sooooo often or the changed characters like Nene. A lot of people don't play with the dials S Go figure But the news is pretty cool. I definately agree on the Michael duds though!

picnic ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 9:15 AM

S*--I also agree about Mike's clothes. He just needs more--and more versatility. I really want a TN with areas to make transparent. The catsuit just does not look like a TN even when I retexture it. Diane

BlueRain ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 9:30 AM

YEP...wARRIORDL ALREADY did a vicky that can wear p4 clothes, the polyette conversion figure at his site. Amazing how slow DAZ is to catch on to something this old.

picnic ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 9:32 AM

BlueRain, I really like Pollyette and use her, but she cannot wear Vicky's clothing also.

shadowcat ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 9:49 AM

I just hope the don't charge too much after all I bought vicki, vicki's clothes, vicki's period dress, burton's hair, mike, mike's clothes one & mike's clothes two, only to have them come out with CD's for less than I spent. In my opinion vicki & mike have sucky clothes to tex map (just try to get mike's t-shirt to have a "larger" picture on the front or put the superman "s" on the catsuit.) They just better do mike too, that and fix his penis (lol) not that he ever uses it on my machine, but just knowing how pathetic it is makes my husband sad (poor guy, ::snicker::)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 10:32 AM

Picnic, Uhm .. A TN?

picnic ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 11:06 AM

file_159790.jpg

SOoooooooooory--a turtleneck. I tried really hard to do a TN from the top of the catsuit, but it just looked terrible-- I put a slight shadow under the 'roll', but it just didn't cut it. It needs a 'roll' around the top. Here's the P4 TN in back and the Mike catsuit top in the front so you see what I mean. I also don't like the skin tight look of the catsuit for a sweater type thing. Ah, well, maybe in the next set of clothes--I also need to go look at PhilC's things again. Diane

TRAVISB ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 11:22 AM

reading my post above i may be a little hard on them daz is a good company it s just id rather see a whole new character with morphs than just chargeing for an update i think they shoul fix a few things with vicki as a update and offer a character for a fee too i mean is any body going to buy vicki 1 when vikki 2 is realesed

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 1:38 PM

Gotcha Diane ... I have seen turtlenecks that tight before but I can see what you mean. Will see what can be done. the mesh is definately there for the morphs.

Jim Burton ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 6:56 PM

I also think it will be intresting on how they do this, Vickie and the Posette aren't even close to the same size or shape or build and they have different parts in different places. Be nice if it actually works.

melanie ( ) posted Sun, 01 April 2001 at 11:02 AM

I wonder if they'll have a dial that changes her body to the other type or something. I've wondered that, myself. Whatever it is they've done with her, I'll just be glad to have all those extra clothes. Melanie

the3dwizard ( ) posted Sun, 01 April 2001 at 11:18 AM

I think that they will have to change Vicky to look like Posette for the clothes to work. If you do that you lose the Vicky look and the plus the clothes don't have any morphs.

shadowcat ( ) posted Sun, 01 April 2001 at 11:37 AM

we'll just have to wait and see, regardless of how it works.

wyrwulf ( ) posted Sun, 01 April 2001 at 1:50 PM

I think they are going to sell quite a few Vicki2s to people that just want to see how they did it.

WarriorDL ( ) posted Sun, 01 April 2001 at 2:26 PM

Actually, it's not that hard to do. I am sure they've come up with a way in the CR2 file itself for clothing (and perhaps in the new Vickie 2 as well) to adjust the height/size issues. After all, they were able to convert the P4 hair for Vickie, right? All that is is a HR2 modification, not a geometry one. Then again, perhaps it's just an upgraded modified version of Polly herslef- Giving her an upgraded body, ie higher rez. Who knows... besides Daz that is :o)

Jim Burton ( ) posted Tue, 03 April 2001 at 3:13 PM

It not as simple as changing the height and size, any conforming clothing has to use pivot centers then pretty much closely match the figure underneath, and the joint parameters have to be in the same ballpark- otherwise as a joint flexed the clothing would flex on another center, and the "bulges" wouldn't match. We see enough pop-through on clothing that is supposed to fit the figure, I can't see it fitting another figure, but maybe they have done something new and clever.

rtamesis ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 12:45 AM

Perhaps they use something similar to what Anton did with his morphing bed over at BBay, where with a turn of a dial, you essentially substitute Vicki's current body for one that is cut and with joint parameters like Posette, which would then allow her to use P4 clothes.
