Subject: FBX for Daz Studio

Sounds like a good move by DAZ. I think...they don't explain much on their website. It's pitifully lacking in details. I assume you can export and import FBX files. But where can you find this "wealth of content", specifically motion content for FBX?

This appears to be a one-way plugin. Nowhere in their writeup do they mention importing. They mention all the objects they can export (still can't use dynamic cloth or hair) and some of the applications that can use this format. If the plugin let you use content from Maya or something I'm sure they would have let you know in no uncertain terms.

Actually if it exports well with animation, I'll get it so I can export to Lightwave. It seems like a much easier solution than the green briar plugins... Guess it's time to check out DS again.

They updated the description. It's export only

Berserga check this thread. It seems pretty poor for LW http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?p=507003#507003

Yeah so I hear. :(

I can't use this (D|S is the only 3D program I use) but... I noticed part of the description includes "exports single and multi-layered textures". D|S doesn't do multi-layered textures... yet. The answer is "soon" can you guess what the question is...? =)

As I understand it from the readme, each texture layer in an FBX file can hold only a single map so you need multiple layers to get all the settings across - in the event that you application's importer can deal with multiple layers (I gather it's rare - the LW one certainly doesn't seem to).
