Subject: I fixed the broken Vue .09 update!! For those who had trouble with poser import

Lyne ( ) posted Thu, 30 March 2006 at 11:19 PM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 8:44 PM

Try this:

Install the .09 update.
Redo the connection path to poser (even if it says it is right) and let vue restart.
Try to open a pz3 scene file you could not open with this update.
If it will NOT load, do this: Open your poser, open the same scene file, and RE-SAVE IT!
Now go back to vue, and try to import it again! I BET it will work!

I spent the whole evening first being brave to finally update, then getting really angry that it broke my poser import and after that I could not copy back my vue 5.7 application, vue would still not open...then I deleted the entire vue folder, restarted my machine and THEN I copied my back up of vue 5.7 back in to the e-on folder in Program files....It worked! It opened up fine with no reinstall!!!

BUT my import was STILL BROKEN from the .09 (even though vue tried to roll itself back..it was a MESS!).... but I had A FLASH ...AN EPIPHANY!! ... I went to poser, re-saved the pz3, and just like that vue 5.7 imported the pz3 fine...

SO I thought... I bet THAT is the glitch with the update! I BRAVELY UPDATED AGAIN and went through the same thing...any pz3 that would not import, I went back to poser, re-saved the file and it imported fine!!!! HA!!

I am very interested to know if this "fix" works for those of you who had this same problem - of the .09 patch refusing to import poser pz3's.

Now, I still have to tell vue 5.9 where the first texture in a poser character is, IN A 5.7 vue saved scene file, but then it asks if I want to use all the poser path ones and I say yes...and all is well.

NEXT I reinstalled the Cornucopia items I had bought and brought them all in, just fine...played with my sci fi trees, etc...and also made sure my original "extra vegetation" worked... It all did.

NEXT I put a terrain and loaded the DEFAULT VUE GRASS...and the scale was the "correct 30" in stead of 100. How cool is that? :)

Now I am all set! :) I can buy the one neato tree at the store I have been wanting... This whole set of issues had me wanting to go back to Bryce....which I will be reinstalling and buying the DAZ Bryce content, but NOW with the CURE I found for vue, I will have both landscape programs! Wheeeee!!

And yes, I will post this at the store forum and at the e-on tech forum...if anyone there cares to study my fix... or maybe if it works for all who had trouble they can post the how to fix in the knowledge base. Let me know, folks if it works for you too...I would be so happy if I have been able to contribute something!

also forgot its 7 days since I sent Vue a request to fix this one(second time of trying)Not a dickie out of them. I spent $500 on this program, I like vue but it has way too many problems. I will not spend serious cash like this again unless I know it works. Yes you will post replies saying how wonderfull the tech support is, but sorry not in my case.

No, not me, tech support is NOT the greatest from them... I was about to give up totally in frustration, and then I found this solution. I am on a PC... are you on a Mac? I am so sorry my idea did not work for you! :(

Hi I think the problem with there technical support is they are throwing everything at Keeping IL&M Happy, it's a huge step up for them and would see there shares rocket. I know it doesn't help us directly, but the updates will come much faster as they will hire extra people to cope with the increased pressure and IL&Ms knowledge will be added to there own, just think of that, they will not stand for an inferior buggy program, with patients will come rewards. Well it won't be any consolation but I put in a support request last week and got a response in four days. andrewe_665 how did you contact them? Did you use the tech support form on their site or an e-mail. If you sent an e-mail they wont respond. They only respond to tech support threads. Hopefully they are just busy at the moment and will get back to you soon.

Well, I waited for an answer almost a week, which is very unusal, I generally receive an answer in 2 days. They must be very busy indeed. ILM or Vue6?....

Or someones on holiday or ill or jury duty or having a baby... Take one or two people out of a company in key positions at once and it can really knock stuff out of sync for a while.

Well they finaly got back to me, asking for more symtoms, so I will hang around for a while and wait to be asked even more questions. I using a PC by the way. I used to be a techmical support Engineer, if I could not fix the problem within 24 hours, yes 24 hours (I would also have to answer all enquiries within 1 hour of receiving them)I would be on a plane to customer. what anoys me is that this worked well until the update. all they have to do is look at the code and see what they changed( damm give the code to me I will look at it and fix it) Hell otherwise this is a great program, apart from the crashing, lack of a real good water drawing function, the results I get when it works are stunning. Been using Vue products since they first came out, must have thrown a $1000 their way

At one point before I got the update problem solved, I had tried to update to the .08...and hated it...I ended up having to uninstall, and reinstall from scratch and put the update I LIKED back on... might be the best thing at this point? If the 9 one broke it, perhaps get the 8 update? It worked for most folks (I just did not like the change in the materials- the scale went to default 100)... failing finding the other updates on e-on, maybe you can get the one you need from a vue user... but bottom line..is when an update breaks it, you really do have to reinstall. I got lucky and PASTED a back up installed copy from another drive and it worked! It definatly writes a lot to the registry.

Re water....I do NOT like it's oddball function and I strip the WAVE function out of any water I want to use... :) Hope it works out for you!
