Subject: Please Help - MyLady Hair

Sveva ( ) posted Wed, 26 April 2006 at 11:51 PM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 4:02 AM

I have poser 6.

I just bought MyLady Hair today.  I have V3 & Aiko3

I unzipped and everything seems to be in the right place, although in my Figures folder I have a folder called Hair so that the hair figures are not just all over the place.  I hope this isn't my problem.  Everything is in the right places just some are in other folders to keep it neat...

Anyway - I was wanting to use a figure called Bambi for Aiko3, I load her up, everything is fine, I go to the figures>hair> MLhair for A3 - Everything is fine.

I go to Pose>Hair>MLhair and "Apply Updo" everything is fine, I take off some bangs, everything is going fine, ok then I apply a mat for hair color like red or blonde, it doesn't matter which color, and the updo comes down and the bangs return and the style goes right back to default w/the color I picked.

I try to apply updo or take away the bangs and nothing ever happens.  What am I doing wrong?

Oh and when should I conform to the figure before or after adding the color?  And should I set parent to, or use conform?

Im sorry Im just a bit confused with the hair lately, I only started a couple weeks ago =/

Please any help would be very appreciated, Im about to pull out my own hair =(

Thanks in advance.

I will try that thank you for your response!

Do a render and see what it looks like.  It's possible that what you think you are seeing isn't the end result.

Also, it's a good idea to get in the habit of conforming or parenting right after applying an item, this way you don't forget.  It doesn't matter if you do it before or after applying a texture, but sometimes a texture will change the appearance of the item and if it makes it transparent you can't see if there is poke throughs or adjusting needed unless you change the transparency in the material room.  So I prefer to parent or conform right after applying the item.

As for rearranging you files, that's ok to do.  Just don't rearrange your geometry or texture folders, or any geometry files you might find installed in the character folder.  But other than that you can sort you files within the '"Library" folder anyway you like.

Ugh this is so frustrating...

I started over, again, load Aiko, Load MLhair, Conform to Aiko (Figure 1), Open Pose folder, there are several textures for MLhair at the top, it looks like they say 1ST in the corner, under those there are a whole bunch more that say BRAID.

Anyway - I set the updo, take the bangs away and apply the color, and no matter how I do it, the hair is long and bushy again after applying any color texture.

I tried rendering it  but its the same - long and bushy.  If I render it before the texture it renders perfect, but once I add it, it pops the hair style back to long again.

Thanks for your help I dunno how to fix it still >.<

If you left everything where the zip dropped it there should be no problem at all with the placement of the files. You CAN move some of the content to other folders in the corresponding library (but not all, leave textures and geometries where they are) but until you are used to all those different file-types you are save when you leave things in their default folder.

I'm not sure on the rest as I do not own that hair. I would recommend to contact the merchant directly. You should mention that you are new with poser because that makes it easier to explain things understandable. I'm sure the creator of the hair will help you put on this.

Well basically what I do is unzip to a folder on the desktop and then open that and put everything where it goes in the poser folder, runtime, libraries, etc. but I rename some of them or put them into a folder w/in the folder they are supposed to go into. If that makes any sense.

ANyway I reinstalled it, and used it that way and the same thing happened.  So I am playing with something else for now >.< Thanks

are you using a mac? what exactly are you renaming?

No. Windows XP OS.

Again: Don't be shy, send an IM to the merchant and explain your problems exactly like you did in your first posting and I'm sure the creator of the hair can help you out on this as he/she knows his product exactly and most of all knows how it behaves when using it.
I'm selling some things, too, and I'm always glad when someone asks when he has problems. I don't like the idea that a customer is frustrated and unsatisfied with his purchase but too shy to ask about something that can be fixed with a few tips given per mail or IM...

Yes, it's a good idea to let the merchant know if you are having trouble. Sometimes it is something you are doing incorrectly, but I've also found that I've discovered problems that the beta testers missed.  So it gives them a chance to fix it if it's a problem with the file or texture.

um, it's just a hunch, but i'm betting the mat pose for color is applied for the default style.  that is, not with the other settings you added, like invisible bangs.  try this order - color first, set the updo, take away the bangs.  or basically any order that doesn't have the color last.

Sveva ( ) posted Thu, 27 April 2006 at 7:33 AM

Yeah I thought of that, and tried it but it didn't work =/ I will try it again though JUST to be sure I did.

If I try to add the color last mine does this to, but if I do the color first then the updo and bangs it works fine.
