Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 27 3:47 pm)
Yes, I saw that a few months ago and asked about it.
"It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
Hmmm... it would be nice if you could actually ask them who created it and what they used and
all that, but I dought we could do that, unless you know of a special link to get ahold of them or something?
If so, please let us know?
I know I'd be curious?
Either way, if it is made from Poser (which it sure looks like it is)
then that would be pretty cool to see Poser being used that way.
If not, and since it still does look like it was made in Poser, then that still shows that
you "could" make a whole commercial for a big shot company just by using Poser,
since everything in it does come off as Poser-ish, and done very nicely so :)
I'm only just starting to learn about the animating features and aspects of Poser,
but am hoping to learn it lots better down the road, when I have more time that is.
Though for right now, I'd be happy just to figure out how to use Templates, like I got
those free textures for the Hawk that I bought and it would be nice to know what to
do with them and how you go about working with, whatever templates are? LOL
And could someone you maybe go to the other Poser forum, the technical one, and check out
my thread there on organizing files in Poser and maybe give me some tips, if you have any that is?
I'd sure appreciate it, even if the question might seem lame to you pros out there, as I'm just starting
out with Poser and really want to get this filing system better organized before I start getting to
far into Poser and end up getting myself all messed up with crazy files all over the place LOL

"it would be nice if you could actually ask them who created it and what they used and
all that, but I dought we could do that".....You might be suprised, i rang umm (damn forget the name now), folks that did the CGI on Gladiator to find out how and where they used Cinema 4d and i got a very nice email telling me all about it........Steve

Despite their toadying to the Chinese overlords, Google do still have their uses. A search for: 'nasonex animation' yields quite a bit of information. It appears you're out of luck regarding Poser though - looks like Cinema 4d is their weapon of choice."Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance." - H. L. Mencken
They could have imported Poser figures into C4D.
Before they made me they broke the mold!

Umm, well it said "modeling" using CD4, so one would assume... Of course one could also insist that "Final Fantasy" or anything else had to be Poser but I'd say ask the creators linked in the article to be sure. My guess is that working on projects of that nature, they would never recover if they were ever outed for using Poser figures for other than perhaps previz.

I saw the "modelling" word, too. I haven't seen the commercial. However, I personally integrate Poser animation into Lightwave scenes (modelling everything else in Lightwave). I can easily recognize that some professionals might be embarrased to admit that they used Poser so they'd de-emphasize it and emphasize the stuff they'd made themselves that was used in the spot.

Here's the creator's web site. Apparently, he's also done comics. There's an email address so you can quiz him on the Nasonex spot and perhaps he'll reply. I'd be interested to find out but tired of multi-ebots and unticking notification, I may never find out :-)"Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance." - H. L. Hmmm,,, this thread turned out pretty good :)
I too thought all the same things when I seen her hair, and like I say, I wished I would
have recorded it, because then I could do some closer checking, as the commercial
only comes on randomly and you never know when?
I'll have to check up on these links provider here and see what I see?
And yes, I keep wishing there was some "other" search engine I could use,
as I am "completely" discusted with Yahoo giving up that man to a 10 year jail term,
and Google doing the same things. It makes me sick!
I want to ban them somehow, but have no clue how I (one person) could make any difference?
But I sure want to, cuz that's pathetic and makes my stomach turn.
Umm... anyway, thanx for those links and the great thoughts on the subject, especially,
since they all matched my own thoughts as you have to admit, it sure as heck "looks"
like they were using a Poser lady there or at the least, a modified Poser lady?

Oh I'm so glad someone has raised this one. I have been wondering about it too and I seem to be noticing more and more commercials using non humans for their characters. In MI there's the Tractor Supply Company and they are using similar characters to the Nasonex commercials but they're not as "realistic" IMHO. I doubt they're Poser folks...maybe Sims type characters...I really don't know. They look kinda "clunky" to me. Anyone else seen them ?
I don't know if the company is national or just in MI but I would be interested in knowing about that one too.
I'm off to look at the link to the Nasonex creator now....
Interesting stuff..

Yeah and they're not really all that attractive I don't think.
I haven't watched CourtTV so I'll have to take a look. I see enough of "real court" dramas on the news every night... LOL.

Gawd...it makes you wonder who is doing the posing or whether they really care about how the actual "characters" look. It sounds like they really only care about getting the message across and graphic quality is way down the list. I'm assuming that they're not animated at all yes ?

It is animated. But I get the feeling that whoever is doing it isn't very experienced in Poser.
I think they like that really fake look, though. Some of the crimes they simulate would be really upsetting if the figures were realistic.
One of their shows has a weird Poser connection...the serial killer in that episode claimed to be inspired by Thralldom. He used their URL as the return address on taunting letters he sent to the press.
Yes, that's a good point although it doesn't seem to bother the likes of CSI and the like who have dismembered bodies all over the place that make you almost loose your last meal LOL.
Ya know, OT but I have always thought I would like to do jury duty until last week when I was watching the courtroom antics of the family of a man convicted of killing a cop, escaping custody and just being a thoroughly violent menace to society in general. The judge said that he was one of the most violent criminals he had come across and sentenced him to three lifetimes.
All hell broke loose with his family and one was arrested for his behavior. I thought then, heck, I would not want to have been on that jury that convicted him . I'd be terrified of what those people might want to do to me and I 'd spend the rest of my life looking over my shoulder.
Of course, being an implant who is not yet a citizen, I don't hafta worry about it but if it ever happens I think I'll suddenly find the need to leave the country now ... LOL.

There's some stock quote ad (something-trade?) out there where the guy walks into the figures, becomes 'poserized', and then walks back out into real life..not sure if it's Poser (probably not..;), but boy, if I could only do that to my renders..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
anahl nathrak uth vas betude doth yel dyenvey..;)
That Nasonex thing is really creepy - the bee model is horrioble and the animation is just disturbing. And they vooice - is that supposed to be Banderas?
Yeah, I have to kinda agree with this point LOL
Cuz that bee does come off as, what the heck were they going for anyway!?
And in a couple of psrts, he looks like he's humping that flower, or something? LOL
Either way, someone got some money for making that pretty basic commercial,
so I'm glad for them, cuz I don't see much work put into it, not really that is :)
I like the Poser looking lady commercial much better though.

.
That's so true, but then again, look at Bug's Life.
Most of the ants talk in male voices, yet most ants that you ever see in real life are all the female ants, untill mating time, and then all the males get to chase the queeny around and then the leftovers get kicked out and even have their wings pulled off and basically are killed, same as with bees LOL
Glad I'm a human, it's at least a tiny, little bit better then that LOL

THE Neal Adams is responsible for that commercial?!? I'm appalled! I consider that commercial to be one of the worst (if not THE worst) commercials featuring 3D animation. I grant you, it gets the job done, but its godawful. Ah well...time is money. And it also goes to show that someone can be a masterful penciller and composer (Neal Adams) and yet be amateurish in other media. He's responsible for some of Marvel's and DC's greatest visual achievements, IMO.
"apparently he's also done some comics" wha-huh? apparently? yeah, he's worked on a little book called the x-men. quote from my collector boyfriend, "without him, the x-men would have died in the 70s. the book was cancelled, but they found out 3 months later that the sale of the book began to peak during his run as artist." he's been an inspiration for comic artists such as mark texiera and art adams for years. you can see the lineage of his artistic style in several major artists in the field for the past 3 decades, if not more. the man is a living legend.
i agree about the ads. but at his age, whatever keeps him happy is good.
oh, and the figure doesn't look very poser to me. shoulders are too good, and the chest too small and natural. hair does look like sassy hair, though.

Has anyone seen that Nazonex commercial yet?
The one with the Bee?
There is one version of the commercial where they have this animated lady and she
and everything else in the commercial all look like they came and were made and
probably animated right inside of Poser, at least they look that way to me.
I want to record it, just so you all can look at it and make up your own minds.
Silly, probably, but just a fun thing that makes you wonder, that's all :)
