Subject: Figure creators - Can we work something out? :-)

At the risk of sounding however I sound, It is with a clear conscience that I state that my current fave-rave actress is Leelee Sobiesky. Something about her in mideval armor in Joan of Arc- Let's just say I enjoyed the movie. And, I think I'm one of the 3 people on the planet who *really* got into "Here on Earth". What can I say, there is just something about her. And yes, I probably do need my head checked. If you've seen my props in Freestuff, you know I know how to make kickass models. But, I cannot draw or model humans to save my life. So: If any of you fantastic figure creators is willing to make a realistic Leelee figure (which does not have to be exclusively for my use), I am more than willing to be that person's prop slave (meaning I will be more than happy to create props given to just that person for them to do what they want, including distibuting them if they like). We would, of course, work out how many props make a fair trade. Any takers? :-) Anthony

I coud probably morph and texture victoria or possette into someone that looks pretty close at least but couldn' model from scratch ...

duanemoody ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:15 PM

Leelee Sobieski = 75% Jewel Kilcher + 25% Helen Hunt.

Marque ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:22 PM

I think she's cool too, and I'm a female. Marque

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:26 PM

75% Jewel??? Sacrilege! And you forget her delightful French features. So Ghost- How close you think you can get? :-)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:31 PM

Depends on which figure but probably pretty dang close ...

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:35 PM

Pretty dang close works for me. How do we make this worth our respective whiles? Please feel free to email me at anthony@curiouslabs.com. :-) Anthony

JKeller ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:37 PM

My roommate was an extra on Never Been Kissed and met Leelee. Evidently she's about 5'10, very thin and very shy. I would think that the Zygote Nude Young Woman might be a good base due to the soft features and narrow mouth. That or Vicky just because just because there's more points to work with when making custom morphs. And I'd say she is more 90% a young Helen Hunt. I don't see the Jewel in her.

Hey, I like war/prison/action/sci-fi/bikini-carwash movies as much as the next guy, but since my roomate is female, I see my fair-share of chick-flicks as well. Can someone pass the tissues?

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:45 PM

Tall, lissome, unpretentious, and drop-dead beautiful... sigh Right. Ahem. Well. I'll just keep working on my novel now. Ghost, JKeller, if either of you is offering to do the model, by all means email me! :-) Anthony

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:48 PM

don't know .. but will mail you ... S I see a tiny bit of Jewel possibly butdefinately Helen Hunt ... JKeller .. you are right about the models but it depends on what Anthony has S

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 4:54 PM

Anthony will legally get his hands on anything he needs to. Just tell me what to get. Vicky? And Helen Hunt definitely, but Helen just does not have those adorable French features.

Anthony Appleyard ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 5:49 PM

Which Anthony is that?

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 5:52 PM

This Anthony :-P Anthony Hernandez Curious Labs

JKeller ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 7:17 PM

I currently only have Amorphium to make morphs with, and I don't think it's quite up to the job. LightWave should be arriving tomorrow (Newtek finally found my check!), but honestly there's a great deal of stuff I want to try with it before I play around with morphs. It's all you Ghostofmacbeth.

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 7:20 PM

JKeller, on the subject of Amorphium, what do you think of it? Their idea of "virtual clay" is intriguing. How well does that actually work? And, I think you'll have a lot of fun with Lightwave and thanks for your input :-) Anthony

JKeller ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 7:29 PM

Amorphium works great for certain things. Using Traveler's tutorial and the magictriangle it's easy to make morphs for Poser figures, and its best strength is the smoothing tool. It's weekness is you can really only make very general, organic changes because you can't work on vert-by-vert level. Good for getting rid of details, bad for putting in details.

kbade ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 10:11 PM

What...you're going to have a Leelee Sobiesky thread and no one is going to mention Eyes Wide Shut? Oh, Please!

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 10:29 PM

You mean Eyes Wide Open - Tongue Hanging Out - Hyperventilating - Fantasising? :-) ANthony

kbade ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 10:38 PM

Well, I couldn't help myself. It was like an elephant standing in the room that no one was mentioning. I'm not quite that attracted to Leelee myself (or Helen Hunt, for that matter), though I certainly understand it. It was just something that needed to be said. BTW, as my mind is an endless morass of trivia, I would note that Leelee recently guest edited an issue of Premiere magazine, or Premiere for Teens, something like that, if you would like to read her writing or her interviewing other actors and actresses.

duanemoody ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 10:50 PM

It takes a brilliant director to make a dull movie about kinky sex.

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 10:54 PM

I agree. But the glimspes of Leelee in her skivvies alone was worth the cost of admission.

kbade ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 11:06 PM

I would also agree. It's speculation on my part, but my theory is that Kubrick really believed the message of the movie. But the message would have been much more powerful had the sex really been prurient. Unfortunately, I think the more you believe in the moral of the story, the less able you may be to make the sex really prurient. A Catch-22, really.

kbade ( ) posted Sun, 15 April 2001 at 11:09 PM

BTW, off-topic, as a toybox visitor, thanks for the morphs, Duane!

Anthony, I haven't been active here for quite a while, but got some free time today. Had a quick try at a morph for the std P4 woman. Would this be any use to you? (free btw.) Ian

Ian Porter ( ) posted Mon, 16 April 2001 at 9:53 AM

Sorry, Forgot to mention that that is the Kaz hair from DAZ, and obviously not included :)

AprilYSH ( ) posted Mon, 16 April 2001 at 10:17 AM

WOW - you guys rock!

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Mon, 16 April 2001 at 5:02 PM

So, uh, where do I find these morphs???

PJF ( ) posted Mon, 16 April 2001 at 7:04 PM

LOL, you need to model yourself a cold shower, Anthony. ;-) There was a 17th century Polish king (elected!) called Sobieski, who saved Vienna (and the rest of Europe) from being overun by the forces of Islam, in the form of the Turks (Ottoman Empire). Christian Europe was so grateful, it named a stellar constellation after him - Scutum Sobiescianum, which means 'Sobieski's Shield'. Kind of fitting that someone who played the part of a person who rallied against invading forces is named after someone who did that for real. Sorry, just trying to keep you calm with boring history lessons as you anxiously await your morphs. :-)

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Mon, 16 April 2001 at 7:38 PM

ROFL PJ! :-) Have you seen my claw foot tub/shower in Freestuff/Mesh Objects? And thanks for the history lesson. I'm back to panting now...

duanemoody ( ) posted Mon, 16 April 2001 at 9:09 PM

So, you didn't answer my question. Do I get the prize, Anthony, or not?

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Mon, 16 April 2001 at 9:18 PM

Sure why not :-) What do you want modeled?

Mechanical breast pump. The blue bar on the right side moves back and forth to create the suction. If there was a fill-bottle dial that would be perfect. http://www.medela.com/images/bkgd_products2.jpg

Give me ~1 week.

She's up and ready to download (her head morph, that is).

GrayMare ( ) posted Tue, 17 April 2001 at 11:42 PM

Duane was nice enough to share his LeeLee...can you do so too, Ian? I like the look you achieved a lot. I can't offer to model you a mechanical breast pump (still trying to figure out how this character and a breast pump get scrambled up into somebodie's psycho fantasies :P hehe) GrayMare

Ian Porter ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2001 at 2:06 PM

Graymare, Sure, I will be posting my version, but I want to do some more work on it first. I will post a new message when I have the model available. Because of the way I work it may take a couple of days before I am satisfied with it. Cheers Ian

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2001 at 2:10 PM

You guys are great :-) And I'm working on the breast pump. Leelee ata breast pump... what a visual...

duanemoody ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2001 at 2:22 PM

Leelee has nothing to do with the breast pump. Sheesh. Much of the reason I chose it was that it's about the only non-organic thing in my home I can't already find as a prop on the Internet. Ideally I'd love to have an articulated model of my silver Saturn SW, but I'm not gonna ask Nosfiratu to do that in exchange for a few hours' work on a head morph. If organics had been on the table, I probably would have asked for a piece of contemporary casual men's clothing.

GrayMare ( ) posted Thu, 19 April 2001 at 9:40 PM

See what I started (hehehehe) gotta lighten things up around here, sorry it was at duane's expense. I look forward to Ian's posting the character too. I can be patient. So Nosfiratu, do you have a breast pump to use for inspiration? I'm sure we could find sites on the web, or I'll give you a friend's email addy, he used to work for a breast pump company. I can give him a hard time about being unable to model its use :-) GrayMare

Nosfiratu ( ) posted Fri, 20 April 2001 at 6:22 PM

I have a model :-)
