Afraid I can't help, but it's a fine project. All the best.

You may want to read the ApolloMax readme. Using ApolloMax to better other 3rd party figures is a violation of the EULA of ApolloMax.
Using ApolloMax to make James better by using ApolloMax's textures on James is exactly what Anton was trying to prevent by writing the EULA readme the way he did.
I would highly recommend writing Anton an email asking his permission or clarification about what your doing. Anton's email is in the readme.
Isn't the idea here to use James textures on Apollo? Not sure if the same restrictions apply - better to be safe than sorry and email the creator.

Subject line and paragraph imply remapping james to fit apollo re apollomax maps ON James.
carodan BTW nice use of the black texture, sweet render. Great eyes. Anton and I want your render settings! haha.
I am just trying to make a texture for Apollo Maximus. Anton did have the UV maps available on his site even after he removed the model for a while anyway ... I was under the impression that textures for Apollo didn't violate the EULA and upon reading it and the fact I'm using this for personal use only I don't believe I'm in violation. I have the LE version of Apollo and it has no native clothes or textures. I've mapped the eyes, head, beard and lashes as well as the body so far.
Sincerely
Boni
P.S. To be on the safe side, I have e-mailed Anton for his approval.

Yeah, probably a bit vague.
MachineClaw - I sent you an IM re - render settings.

Boni - yeah you can make your own textures for Apollo definately for personal use or for commercial products to sell. I thought you were remaping James UV's to TAKE apollomax textures, that is what Anton does not want. Anton just doesn't want to see his hard work on other figures. Sorry for the confusion. Anton will probably make it clearer in email.
carodan - oh goodie! I really am impressed with your render. Thanks much.
Yes, Anton reasured me that what I was doing was perfectly all right. I can't redistribute the map though because it's copyrighted from ef. I'm cutting and pasting from the James map since I don't have the tools, models or training to make a map from scratch. :)

At RuntimeDNA in the texturing forum there were a series of tutorials about coping photos and making a texture, how to use parts to clone etc. good tutorials with q&a for each section too.
it's essentially what you are doing using James texture(photo references per say) and pasting and cloning onto the templates of ApolloMax.
It may help you with doing a texture.

Here's a tutorial you might want to take a look at for making skin textures in Photoshop for 3d models. Just something to keep in mind for future projects. Brush set is free to download and tut is pretty easy to follow. ^_^Crazy alien chick FTW! (yeah....right....)

Thank you all, I will look into this. Perhaps if I can get into this I can make original maps for Apollo that everyone can use and we'll have more stuff for him ... and maybe even coax Anton to support him again. It's worth a shot. He was burned pretty bad by his experience and support could help.

I must say this though before I close. I have seen many a Texture Artist struggle with a default UVmap. whether it was map size, head body ratio, seam blending and or tattoos across seams. I've read many tutorials, lessons, and desertations addressing these problems, I only wish they would add one more item. And that is, in your renderings and or animations, you are under no obligation to use the default UVmap. You can create your own UVmap to suit a particular need in a scene i.e. three quarter view from the left, remap and place your seams on the right, thereby hiding them. In the case of tattoos remap and eliminate the default seam it would cross. Above is an example of one of the heads I've done for Jessi.
Learning UVmapping takes time and patients. Trust me though the freedom is rewarding.
If you would like further information on UVmapping, I would suggest perusing the uvmapping group or you could email me at chieftanoclan7@sbcglobal.net I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
Good rendering
