Subject: Clumps of Trees

How do I create clumps of trees in an ecosystem as opposed to an even (and un-natural looking) distribution of trees?

I would use, if I had V5I, a b&w bit map to control the distribution...but I'm only guessing based on what I remember from the demo.

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

You  can either dirve the density with a bitmap as suggested by bobby, or with a fractal function you create in the function editor.

Another thing you can do is make an ecosystem of trees on a plane object however big and however square and make the plane object invisible after you populate. Now you've got a little clump of trees that you can place wherever you want in your scene. Duplicate and repopulate for variations.

Make sure to unclick 'decay near foreign object ' in the density tab.
