DAZ|Studio F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 10 3:28 pm)
hello, Phil. I´m a Wardrobe Wizard user. Your programs are very useful. Thank´s. I´m very interested in the new Clothing Designer. Some questions: Are you going go make any script or plugin for D/S? When will be available the Clothing Designer commercial version? Can DAZ read the Dynamic cloth simulations from Poser 5? I use Poser 6 and it isn´t possible. Thank´s, Phil.
Anything is possible but the DAZ Studio SDK costs $995. I would need that before even attempting to write a script.
DAZ Studio does not have any form of cloth simulation so I'd need to write that component from scratch.
DAZ Studio does not have deformers so I'd need to write that from scratch. Yes there is a deformer add on available but I would not want my customers to get into the following situation:-
Users to PhilC "Your plug in does not work"
PhilC "Did you purchase the deformer script?"
User "Oh I need to purchase another plug in to make your plug in work?"
PhilC "Yes that is correct."
User "OK I've purchased the extra plug in but your script still does not work."
PhilC "I'm sure my plug in is correct have you talked to the creator of the deformer plug in?
User to deformer plug in creator "PhilC says I have to talk to you because he says his plug in is working correctly and feels that your plug in is in error."
Deformer plug in creator " -----" insert suitable phrase here "Go and tell that to PhilC"
User to DAZ "I've purchased the deformer and PhilC plug ins but they do not work"
DAZ to User .... I do not know what they would say.
Which is why any script that I would write for DAZ Studio would be based solely on components contained within the base version of DAZ Studio. The cost of the completed plug in would reflect the work involved.
Or folks could just use my existing Python scripts with their free copies of Poser 5 and import the results into DAZ Studio.

No, but you can spawn morphs in Poser to make the dynamic clothing fit the simulated pose in D|S (or Poser ProPack and earlier - the Heirloom Shawl by Shadownet included morphs made with the cloth room to accomodate a range of arm movements, for example, which made it usable in D|S and older versions of Poser.

Is this done in the same way as exporting a body part MT in .obj format, or should we spawn the morph then re-save the prop to the library? I'm gradually getting to grips with dynamic cloth, and I'd like to at least be able to use single-frame instances in D|S.

DAZ Studio users are now able to render realistic cloth that has been allowed to drape and flow just like real cloth. And the beauty is that for a short period they can [download](http://www.contentparadise.com/p5free) the fully functioning software for free.Simply set up and run the cloth simulation in this program then export and import into DAZ Studio.
