Subject: Curtain.. backdrop...?

ziggie ( ) posted Fri, 06 October 2006 at 11:20 AM · edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 11:11 PM

A couple of years ago... somebody marketed (vendored) a very nice curtain backdrop... that sorta draped on the floor as well.

I bought it... but can't find it now :-(

Anybody remember who the vendor was... or the product title..?

Thanx Tyger_purr.... just looked... that wasn't the one, but it might do if I can't find the other one.

In freestuff here is the Satin Studio 2 which is a set of a flat and a curved backdrop, a round and a square pedestal, and a flat and a fluffy sheet for the floor.

Thanx pigfish9... but not the one I was looking for.

It was definately a purchased item... everybody raved about it at the time. It was just a single curtain/drape figure... no pedestals or things like that.

It looked very.... luxurious and had morphs to alter the crease pattern etc.

Hhmm, this might not work, but, I gotta send a link anyway just in case.  DAZ has a wonderful catwalk set that has beautiful drapes with it.  You can alter the crease and the length.  I've used it a couple of times and one of them I lowered the floor enogh to where it was just the backdrop in the pic.  Might be usable for you.

StevieG1965: thanks... just grabbed that one from DAZ3D. Will have a look a lil later.

The one I used to have was like... a right angled drape (2 sides) which then also draped across the floor in a square fashion... and then downwards again... more the kind of thing you would put objects on, rather than figures.

Hi, ziggie:-)

You don't specify which version of Poser you are using.

If you're using P5 or greater, then its reasonably  easy (with some learning) to create your own prop via the Cloth Room, using the "Hi-Res Square"  (or whatever it's actually called).  Takes a bit of work to drape it,  but yields excellent results. You can export the final result as a .obj file, clear everything, reload your scene and import the saved .obj. Or you could save the result as a morph target... You'd have to create/steal textures for it..

Of course, if you're using pre-P5, then you're left with having to purchase/find morphable curtains... and if so, I apologise for having butted in on this thread..

Cheers,
Diolma

Diolma: hey... that's not butting in... it's called... 'being helpful'   👍

I have P6 and agree I could use the cloth room... it's just I am lazy... well...  busy with other projects.

The drape thing I used to have was very, very good and rendered beautifully... had lots of textures, options, etc.

I only need it for a couple of promo pics for a couple of simple things, so don't want to go through all the hassle of making one.

I am just annoyed that I can't remember who it was by or where it was available.

Hi Ziggie,

I think that I had once bought something similar.  I'll dig through my archives to see if I can find it. -Starkdog

I'm trying to make some renders, but I found this in my archives- Starkdog.

Drape Backgrounds & Product Shot Ground    by Bloodsong
    (http://www.3dmenagerie.com/)

the draped backgrounds were inspired by palmiro's prop.  the product shot was just for me to get that photo studio effect in my figurative works.

the product shot is actually the ground plane with morphs.  turn off the ground plane, and add this prop. (or leave it on, that might work.)  the product shot will replace the ground.  it still works as the ground does: you can use ctrl-g to turn it on and off, it accepts ground shadows, and figures/object will drop onto it.  pretty cool, huh?  ;)  there are a few morphs to try with it.

USAGE:

This is free for use in any image/animation, personal or commercial, without restrictions.  The geometry and files included in the archive may not be mass redistributed, in whole or in part, in original or derivative or converted form, for free or for pay.    (Translation:  create any image animation and do whatever you want with it.  You may NOT store this set of files on your web site for download or burn them to cd for distribution, whether or not you sell them or give them away.  If somebody wants you to email them this archive, singly, that's fine.)
Ancillary works (such as new textures, morphs, uv mapping) may be created and distributed, for free or for pay.  This archive and/or its contents may not be incorporated into the ancillary file archive.

PACKING LIST:

    DRAPEBG1.PP2
    DRAPEBG2.PP2
    DRAPEBG3.PP2

extract to any directory under libraries/props.  load them as any prop.  the top of the raised platform (if there is one, #3 doesn't have one) should be about level with the ground, so you can drop figures onto it.
these props are pretty hefty in filesize.  #3 is 5.8 meg -- its all those folds.

    PRODUCTSHOT.PP2

extract to any directory under libraries/props.  load this up to replace the ground with this morphable ground.
