Heck that's nothing. I paid almost 600 Canadian for bryce 5. And Pakled I'm kinda broke right now too as all my money is going towards replacing my dying computer (and even then I still will need a lone. Luckily my parents will lend me the difference and I will pay them back over the nexts 6 months, unless I win the lottery, in which case I will give you the $6 to get Bryce 6. Here's to winning the lottery :) David

Incarnadine ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2006 at 8:09 PM

I remember it being in the $300 and change area myself. Still when you compare it to my cost for upgrading C4D's core/Advanced Render modules and adding the hair module, even that is cheap! Thirty-six bucks. I will probably do it myself.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Well - I'm all downloaded and installed - although the number of downloads increased from the original 4 per item  to 16 - hope that wasn't because of faulty files........

Hate to have to d/l again - with the P6 CE pack for my son this morning and Bryce 5 + some PC stuff - I have given my bandwidth a nice hit today....

My first copy of Bryce was a cover mount on 3D World magazine. BRYCE 3D

Next BRYCE 4 also 3D World mounted.

BRYCE 5 was a couple of dollars. I got it at an insurance recovery auction.

So at this point in time Bryce has cost me the price of a Pizza. In return it has given me a billion dollars worth of fun.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2006 at 8:45 PM

DAZ probably split up the files further to make them smaller, and easier for downloading? (just a guess in the dark)

Oh dear - still stuck with it on monitor 1 - thought they would have introduced dual monitor support or at least the ability to move the interface between monitors..........

Omigosh, I go to work and come home to find out Santa Claus has come early.  I can't wait to download.  Heck with it being first edition buggie.  I can live with $6 bugs.

I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.  What is Daz up too?  They want all of Drac's babies or something as the catch?  Wow again.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2006 at 9:20 PM

From what I have heard, you could always use Bryce with dual monitors.

Take the cursor up to one of the Create, Edit areas, press and hold space bar, your cursor will turn into a little hand and you can drag those "toolbars" over to your other monitor.

Now...that's what I've been told over the years by dual monitor people. Never been able to try it myself.  :o(

But I can see the hand cursor, and move the toolbars around.

tastiger ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2006 at 9:39 PM

Yeah - you can move the toolbars - but the main working area is stuck on monitor 1 you can't actually drag the interface from one screen to the other or strech it across - in fact you can't size it - you can only minimize or maximize.....

No biggy - but would be nice....

SKondris's remarks in several new threads should give everyone a lot of confidence that Bryce is back on track.  Poor guy is just bubbling over in his rush to let it all out.  He's even already complaining no one has commented on the new packaging for Bryce 6, along with a new DAZ Logo.  Has it only been 8 or 9 hours since they opened the floodgates??

Little things like the fact they can now start developing a Bryce 6 SDK, something impossible for previous versions of Bryce.

OK, here's my first attempt in Bryce 6.0
Not too slow, but I managed to watch Criminal Minds and CSI:NY while it was rendering.

I got Bryce 6 and paid $99.00 for it...

I loaded my bryce 5.5  WIP I'm working on and it goes real well...  I need to work on my Wip in B6 to tell how it goes then...

I will try that HDRI  to see it work....

Be sure to use that link in the header to lay your hands on some free HDRI if you don' t already have some!

Love the render phil, commented on it. Strangely enough I gotta also say, that's a really nice asphalt, lol. Works quite well in the render.

deadman67,

Take a look at the online documentation. Has lots of screencaptures of the interface, labs, etc.

http://documentation.daz3d.com/bryce/Bryce6ArtistGuide.htm

Just as a side note folks, the Bryce 5 manual had about 250 graphics. The current manual, unfinished, has 2915 images. I may have gone a bit overboard ....

Oh, god...at that point just have DAZ buy out RWB4 and include that info, lol.

Yep!  Just set your video card to see the two monitors as one big double wide tr... desktop

Well, after couple years of resisting I finally got talked into PC.  Not too bad, I was able to purchase PC, bryce, pay plug in coupons and download right away.

I think after this pricing, DAZ will have a whole new wave of bryce content to sell us... At least that's what I would do if I were them, or what seems to be their business model. Just a guess on my part.

I just glad its out and the stress is so way Lowered now...

Now we get to see how it runs on several thousand different Machines other then the testers...

Badly needed capital for Bryce developement to go much further then even I think DAZ has Planned.

I dont care just as long as Bryce keeps moving forward and I get to make content for it I will know that I have contributed to thy Bryce community and I love doing that....

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 19 October 2006 at 12:50 AM

Ditto on all points, man.

I was determined to get some of my stuff as extra content. It's just...I don't know, sorta of an honor. Makes me all warm/fuzzy.

Quote - That being said, its not that bad. You will find that different HDRI's will render a scene faster than others (I'm assuming this has to do with the complexity of the actual HDRI image, and how many exposure layers were used to create said HDRI image.

Yeah, there are apparently two factors in that. One is the sheer resolution of the HDR image, while the other is the amount of detail in it. But simplified, the bigger HDR file is, longer it will render. And yes, upping the quality to the max will lead to mammoth renders. Not that we don't know how that looks like. :)

tom271 ( ) posted Thu, 19 October 2006 at 1:49 AM

file_357112.jpg

well here is the scoop for me....   It does want to load the hdr files I downloaded ,,,  until I open AgentSmith's file.. then it allowed the hdr files to load in...  once I closed AgentSmith file, it took me quite a few tries to get it to load the newly installed files...  Don't ask me why or how that happens...   So I'm going to just let the program get use to my sytem or vis versa.....

Here is a fish I finally rendered in HDRI....

Steve posted the following at Daz:

The boxed version is scheduled for January 2007, because we plan on releasing Bryce 6.1 by the end of the year. 6.1 will be an important FREE update in its own right since it will have a collection of bug fixes that we're certain to hear about in the coming days that we'll want to address for you. On top of that, we'll have a MAC Intel compatible build out for the MAC in that release. In addition, there's a set of further fixes and feature polish that we're already working on. The HDRI lab, for instance, will have quite a few more controls added to it so that it is even more powerful and versatile in what can be accomplished with it. The dual-processor and hyperthreading support will be extended to work more thoroughly within Bryce 6 and the various previews windows, and we hope to squeeze out even a bit more speed from it. And who knows, we might even have a surprise feature up our sleeves that we'll release around that same time... Very Happy

That should answer a few questions about dual threading etc :)

There are a few Bugs fom the new codes that are 'Random on some System configurations" that need to be nailed down that couldnt be nailed in testing...

Why...?

What are YOUR system specs...?

Virus,Firewall,Msg,Spyrus lie adaware..?

Memory..?

Hard disk space...?

Its all important...

Think foks on what steps you took to get to the debug page....
