Here is some more caustics from Vue 6i (pre-release). Both are GI lighting:
This with a spotlight and cylinder with water material (the bright ring is the spotlight beam being a bit bigger than the cylinder. Outstanding water caustics, i'd say!

Here is another image I made with poser figures though.... it was a little slow to move around at the time but it improved a lot since.
This one was another test for translucent materials.
Gill, e-on must be overloaded beyond belief. I'm coming up on 14 hours myself for a validation on a free upgrade. I have no clue why a $0.00 upgrade should take so long, but I believe I've read that someone on e-on's end has to manually approve each one. I know it's hard, but try and be patient.

The new Vue 6 section is up at e-on's site.You will see an example of skin shading with SSS in the materials section.
(although they cannot be used outside of a spectral atmosphere).
Exciting stuff. Great clouds + colors and some very hot new lighting tools! When e-on said this verson would be more professional, they sure weren't kidding!
Looks like time i got into to using Dave Burdick's SkinVue - with SSS and such in Vue 6 for him to incorporate into his cool product, we should be seeing some great looking Poser skin.

I AM trying to be patient but it's worse than waiting for Christmas morning LOL! Especially seeing all these fab renders in this thread!!
I shall go off to watch a movie, eat chocolate and drink Baileys to cheer myself up ;-)

I should add that this picture has ZERO postwork done outside of Vue.
The color correction and 'glare' from the sunlight were added using the postwork step available inside Vue.
First proper Vue render rather than playing with new stuff. Not my usual style of picture in fact the nearest I've ever done to a nude in three version of poser and three versions of vue.

Why are the clouds so dark on the underside of some of the pics I have seen.
Can they be made whiter and get rid that dark looking under them.
Summer clouds are fluffy and very white where I live. What I am seeing resembles more of a storm type cloud but then again the color isnt right for those in the pics I have seen. :)

ABout clouds.... I found that they tend to be very white in plain sunlight.
You can adjust their density, roughness, turbulences, cover, and color among other things.
The screenshot shows poser and vue side by side, with a render in both applications.
Note that the outline is not reproduced right away in Vue as it is a post processing from the Poser engine. The material itself is reproduced correctly. The outline could be re-created with a Python script I suppose (maybe dburdick will confirm :) ).
From what I can tell, poser doesn't have to be open at the same time as Vue, but you will need to open poser if you want to edit poser materials used in Vue.
The system is using the 'link to poser' previously used to automatically update poser scenes in Vue after changing wthem in Poser.
I didn't display them here but you have the option to edit the pose from inside Vue (all morphs and pose controls are accessible).
I do not have Face_off's materials, so I couldn't test them. If you know where i can find free toon shaders for poser, I will be able to make a more elaborate test.
nevermind... I just looked at the Freestuff and found a few toon shaders for poser I can play with :)
To lighten the undersides of spectral atmosphere clouds, you boost their internal ambient light slider. With that control and the density, opacity and other sliders, you have pretty complete control from white cotton ball clouds to dark storm clouds. Plus altitude, height of layer, amount of fine detail and more.
And there is a spectral atmosphere high cloud type for use above your camera and a low cloud type you can fly your camera above or through or lower down around your mountain tops.
Cool idea for those seagulls Walther! One for the notebook.
I noticed something related to the import of toon shaders. The material looks completely black in Vue if the 'line width' in Poser is more than 0.0.
I will report that to e-on to see if it is a limitation of the SDK provided by e-frontier or simply a parameter that was overlooked. Other than that, it works rather smoothly from what I can tell.
