Hi
I purchased Vue 6 six hours ago. Downloading Part 1 of two -> 16% ....
Any experiences how long it takes until Vue 6 will run on my computer?

Cheers - Oliver

Yesterday, in what relates to me, the downloading lasted approximately 6 hours.

thefixer ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 7:05 AM

Took 13 hours for me to download it yesterday and the content extras is showing 35 hours today!!!

Got the download links about 2 hours ago and wasn´t able to jump onto the download page during this time...

Guess this will be a project for the complete weekend :(

Daniel1705 ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 7:42 AM

After 15 hours my download is at 64 % of Part 2. At the moment it loads about 3 % an hour and it keeps slowing down....

Peggy_Walters ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 8:00 AM

I must have been really lucky (or one of the first 100 or so to buy) - mine downloaded in about 45 minutes.  Can't get the Extras CD though - bad link.

This morning (french hour), I easily downloaded the extra CD (second link of the e-mail). It's a zip file (only 2.8 Mb) that contains a scene illustrating the possibilites of VUE6 concerning caustics.

Buck up !!!

thefixer ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 8:25 AM

EA that's not the full extra content link, the full one is 386 Meg which is why it's taking so long to get, not because of it's size but because half the World must be trying to download it [rofl].

EA ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 8:52 AM

Maybe it's not the full extra content link, but I haven't got any other download link on my e-mail (except the main download link), !!?? and apparently, I am not the only one, others members noted the same thing. It's maybe a question of version, I bought VUE X-stream...

gstorme ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 8:54 AM
  • ExtrasCD.zip : invalid link
  • downloading for 6 hours now: part 1/2 22%
At this speed, 24 hours to download is going to be way too little time

sittingblue ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 9:12 AM

I'm on part 1 of the program download. Eon's dialog reads 90% after 14 hours.

thefixer ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 9:22 AM

EA That may be it, I have Infinite!!

My extra CD download is currently at 17% 64 meg and shows another 29 hours to go, bit of a joke really isn't it!!!

Maby we'll get a voucher for our monthly power-bill....??

ariannah ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 9:36 AM

What's even worse, is many are reporting at e-on's forums after umpteen hours of downloading they are receiving a message saying the file is corrupt.

Mine's now on it's 4th try, running since 9pm last night.  It's about 60% done.  I'm on my 4th attempt because I thought the downloader had stalled.  The progress bar didn't seem to be moving at all.  When checking whether the downloader was still running, Macs are reporting the application has stalled.  I performed a "force quit" and tried again.  Several times.  It keeps showing as stalled.

Imagine how I felt when I finally discovered Mac users posting at e-on's forums, that even though it's reporting as stalled, the application is still running.  Maybe if I hadn't stopped the download when I began at 1:30pm yesterday, I'd have V6I downloaded by now.  Maybe.

Now that we are heading into a weekend & most of us only have 5 days to complete this download from when we received our DL links, I'm getting increasingly concerned.  Obviously e-on should offer extended download time for everyone experiencing trouble, but will they?  Will we have to wait until Monday to see what alternate plan(s) e-on will offer (if they do) and if so, when will this opportunity be in place?

If I thought I'd have success getting through via a phone call, I'd give it a try.  But I know from reading various posts e-on is beyond swamped and when folks do get through on the phone, they are being told to call back in a few days.

I'm trying to be understanding but as a new Vue user, I have to admit this is not making the best impression on me nor is it giving me much of a comfort zone regarding e-on's customer support.  With all the problems being reported:

major snafu inputting serial#'s
bad download links
download timeouts
corrupted files after numerous hours of downloading
server overload
Mac installers reporting as stalled
Extras CD not downloading (or bad link)

......they must be aware of all the trouble this pre-release is experiencing.  Yet so far, I couldn't find anything posted from e-on as to what they plan to do to help their customers achieve a successful download.

Or have I missed something that any of you have seen and can share?

thefixer ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 9:47 AM

ariannah, the 5 days is the extended version, when I first finished the order process I was given 24 hours to get it and thankfully I got the main programme in 13 hours, still waiting on the extras though!!! [19% and just 28 hours to go, lol].

ariannah ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 9:51 AM

fixer, sorry to be so stupid but what do you mean by the extended version and why did my email say:

" This download location will remain valid for the next 5 days. Please be sure to download all files below within the next 5 days." ?

thefixer ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 9:58 AM

Well I could be wrong here!

When I completed my order, they gave me just 24 hours to download it or it's gone!

I then got an e-mail saying I had 5 days to get it but that only had the download link to the extras on it which I'm currently downloading now!

As I say I could have got it mixed up but I was definitely only given 24 hours to get the main programme!!

LMcLean ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 10:01 AM

With all this I think I'll wait for the boxed version, although I would love to have had Vue 6 Yesterday!!! lol.

ariannah ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 10:03 AM

Ah, OK fixer & thanks for the reply.  My email that I quoted above, was both for V6I and the ExtrasCD.
I sure hope I really do have 5 days because at this rate, I am going to need it!

I was so hoping I would have everything downloaded and installed so I could begin learning and playing over the weekend.
Now I'm not so sure if it will be possible.

thefixer ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 10:13 AM

Well I have found out that not having the content CD doesn't make much difference, I just posted a VERY quick image I did using a boat and aircraft in the main programme but I got a message saying that they weren't installed even though they were showing in the objects part. Anyway it gave the option of browsing for them so I pointed to the same thing in V5I and it loaded from there so it looks like the content is pretty much what was in Vue 5 anyway!!!!

sittingblue ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 11:08 AM

HA HA HA HA (crys insanely)... part 1 went to 99% as expected and then timed-out and e-on's server dropped my connection. There's are no temp files and nothing was accomplished after 16 hours.

iloco ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 11:21 AM

Why OOOOOOOOOO Why don't they just burn the program to Cd along with the extras and cut sout all this mad behaviour that is happening with downloads.    What would a few extra days mean knowing we would get the product on cd of which I am patiencly waiting to get instead of being tied up in this mess everyone is in now. :)

Sbell said you could order the physical shipment but for a limited time at the intro deal - closer to Dec1 when the FINAL version comes out.  I am waiting also, to see how all this pans out - I'm in no hurry whatsoever.

is there a patch or a combo to do before begining the download??
thx for help very much

thefixer ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 12:14 PM

I'm on 26% now but with 25 hours still to go according to the timer.

I call this really bad planning, surely they must have realised what a big rush they would get once they announced you could get it!  You would think they would have made sure they had enough bandwidth or whatever it is they needed for speedier downloads!!

95% done downoading part 2 of the V6I application.
I'm scared to death to even breathe in fear I'll get that "file is corrupt" error after all these hours and several attempts.

The suspense is killing me.

After almost 24 hours to the second, I finally have V6I downloaded and installed.  Whoohoo!!!
Now to try and get the ExtrasCD downloaded. Hopefully e-on has fixed the corrupt file problems many have been reporting on this portion.

To those of you still waiting, hang in there & I'll be sending lots of magical mojo your way in hopes you have yours soon too!

Still no connection to the server. I am downloading the Extra CD at the moment. Started quiet fast but slowed down massively now. Allways when I start the Downloader I only get error-messages. Drives me crazy :-(

sittingblue ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 4:17 PM

I can't even connect to their server. The dowloader times-out after several seconds on every attempt.

Yep, tried that

dlk30341 ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 5:45 PM

Quote from EON site:

Copy the entire serial #. All of it must be copied for it to work even the vue6 inf part. Then paste it in the 1st field.

Seems to be working for all over there, hope it works for you guys & gals.

andrewe_665 ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 5:47 PM

GEE thanks that worked

I got lucky I guess. I managed to download Vue 6 in only about 2 hours time, and install with no problem, then when I finally got connected to the Extras CD link (that took a while) downloaded it in just over 3 hours total.

What frustrates and irritated me is that the Extras CD and Objects Content is almost identical to what came with Vue 5 on the Extras CD, so I could have saved all that download time instead of downloading the same old files had I known. Maybe they should just make a difference file of Extra stuff, for those who already have the files from Vue 5 still?

Early in the morning I was able to download the ExtraCD within 15 Minutes, but the main part is still not available. I am really frustrated... I wonder if the link is ok or broken...

CobraEye ( ) posted Sat, 04 November 2006 at 2:01 AM

I downloaded vue 6 with ease within the 1st hour of its release, but I still can't connect to the content cd. I've tried 3 types of browsers and 3 different computers. It's been this way for a few days now. I have no hope and think I need a new link.
