In my case it's a matter of finishing uni (check) and trying to get a job (no check)... I guess the other problem is that HDRI was the only real new toy in B6, so maybe people are still learning the ropes a bit. Also don't forget that Daz will be releasing the 6.1 update sometime soon, so that might push things along a bit.
Come visit us at RenderGods.
Ignore the shooty dog thing.
Actually, I'm liking it,.......faster renders with multi-threading capabilities(quite good multi-threading too, for those of us fortunate to have dual processor machines), I feel that the skylab is improved also. For me, just life in transition stuff happening bigtime,.........so I don't get as much time to work on renders or visit here.

Personally, it seems to be a divide of Have and Have Nots. Over time that'll change, and it's not a jealousy thing, it's just that the new issues of Bryce 6 have little to do with those that don't have the same and that cuts down on those who can comment or relate to them yet. Trust me, when I get B6, I'll be talking just as rapidly about it too. When that happens of course.
But also, we've not been talking about anything much social beyond the freaky deaky weather, and avoiding all things political.
Of course, I could open up a topic for discussion regarding some things that happened to me and see what rolls around too. :c) I'm just so self absorbed. Those who don't know the world revolves around me just didn't read the memo. ;c)

If you take the headline of this thread from a Buddhist POV, it doesn't sound so bad. Or so I would imagine. :) Funny thing how talking about the weather always was instead of talking about difficult subjects. What it is this winter, well, it's hard to say. I've going to Renderosity for some years now, but almost only lurking. It's real easy to feel insignificant. I can't understand how the big cats get so many renders and posts done. Oh wait, maybe you're on this 36-hour clock I've heard so much about?
I think this has little to do with B6 - more to do with the PHP problems of this forum.

And in my final hours - I would cling rather to the tattooed hand of kindness - than the unblemished hand of hate...
Well, I've been trying to learn Rhino and Poser (and improve my UV Mapping skills) so that I can do some more Bryce renders, preferably with less purchased content and more home made stuff.
And, as we all know, the learning curve can be a bit steep. So, that's my excuse. I've been hanging out at some of the other forums (isn't it supposed to be fori??) for the additional help.
Could be worse, could be raining.
I too had noticed a slow-down in the forum. I just accepted it as a general kerfuffle re: Bryce 6 plus the time of year (everyone going out buying prezzies, cards, extra food etc...)
The "Festive Season".
The mid-winter festival that got hi-jacked by... errm.... no. I'm not going there.
Just FYI rickymaveety, the accepted (English) plurals of "Forum" are either "Forums" or "Fora" (Chambers dictionary, 1990 edition - I doubt thing have changed since..)

New apps, new situations in personal lives.....a big mix of variables concerning the Bryce Transition combined with other apps moving forward.
So many different reasons it's impossible to pinpoint.
Maybe post a sticky thread for those Busy veteran Brycers to just poke their head in to say hi....

I visit here once or twice a week. the site is just to slow for me, on a good day i get a ping reply of 223-227ms and a bad day like today i get a ping reply of 300-313ms and i'm on broadband. I know its not my net connection cause i have done ping replies to many other sites including Daz3d, 3dcommune and poserpros which all return ping replies of anything from 57-124ms.
All ping replies were done by sending 15 lots of packets

Nooo ....I don't think so, more like a surfeit of goodies LOL!! what with Poser 7, Vue 6 and Bryce 6 all being released virtually together everyone is playing!!!! I know I'm flitting from one progamme to the next like a lunatic - besides trying to get all the Christmas stuff done..BTW hope everyone has a good one!!

Not sure what is going on here but the ping reply i have from this site at the moment is 301-302ms and the strange thing is the site loads quicker today than it normally does. Mind you i have not gone to the galleries yet, to scared to

Hello all!
I've been playing with B6 and actually experimenting with some of those things that came with the DAZ membership. Lots of Poser files in there. That and learning the new Bryce has kept me busy. It seems many of the old B5 projects that are still in my hard drives might be upgraded with new materials from B6. So, that's how it's been for me.. learn something new, look at the old projects and try to see how to improvement, or just jump start them, with new B6.
Then, of course, the Christmas season, trip to Denmark, programming project deadline.... Lots of things happening.

Well, I just loaded this thread page and I had a blank screen for 18 seconds, then it took 5 seconds to draw the page. I have ADSL, other sites load in a snap. Does Agent Smith have any word from the powers-that-be behind the site on what they are doing to address this? Has Renderosity's server capacity been maxed out, perhaps more capital outlay is required by them?

I agree. The only time I can easily use this site nowadays is early (06:00-09:00) in the UK morning, before the USA comes online.
I'm writing this at about 09:20 GMT, and forum response is already slow, and the gallery and marketplace are virtually unbrowseable.
I tidied up my wishlist yesterday evening, and bought 4 products. It took me 2 hours. This is why I don't post images, browse the galleries, or buy much here now.
I don't have these problems with DAZ, RDNA, CP or 3DC.
For me the forums picked up considerably when I dumped aol dialup and got DSL from earthlink. When I had dialup, the forums were pretty unbearable. I have also been busy so have not cracked open Bryce 6 very much. I did do a space scene which is totally uncharacteristic of me though. I also did my usual warbird scene featuring some of bazze's warbirds.

Me, I am still a newbee to Bryce, but I did download 6 and Love it except for a couple of Annoyances it is performing fine for me, it does eat up RAM though. I also scoured the internet and was able to come up with 72 free HRDI angular maps to use. On that note, most are not good quality, but provide nice IBL effect for night or low light scenes. I suppose they would qualify better being called LDRs. And on the Note about new software, don't forget TG2 Preview just came out, Cooooool Really Really Cool!!!!

I'm posting but little at the moment, it's a combination of being at college with only minimal access to the internet during the day, and very little time to do my own stuff - none at all at present until I get my new computer up and running - plus Xmas, depression at losing everything, travelling around for Xmas, and... well everything.
By now I'd have hoped to be experimenting with my new Bryce6... sigh, maybe next week.

Hmmmmmmmmm!!!!! Just kidding. I think the Holidays have somewhat to do with it. Especially this weeksend. Most people have family over, Gezzzz #^P and will off work for 3 to 4 days. Besides that maybe they are enjoying their new version of Bryce, ..................I know I am!!!!
Merry Christmas Guys,

Not necessarily on the humming bit. Humming requires people that post., and as we know, a number of the old posting hands have moved up or out or have just diversified from bryce to other apps (or media) over the last few years. One would assume that as people moved up and out, then new people/users would move in to the forum to take their posting place, but with DAZ having their own bryce forum these days, I suspect that its sucking up a lot of the newer users - especially since they made bryce 5 a freebie. With each big bryce thing or release (free or otherwise), the forum that had the biggest spike in threads being posted was the Daz forum (apart from one day when AS singlehandedly posted about 10 threads here). The others had smaller spikes.
Now that more and more of the software companies are having their own forums, it'll be interesting to see what effect that has on the various big user based sites.

I have to say(add), that I can't remember a time when so many 3D programs had an update version all at once like this(like 10 or more). Many have jumped ship with Bryce(as stated in some posts on forum here) and are learning the new apps. Holidays in the past, I've seen at least, more people add on forums, than fall off. Not alot of pictures or WIP's are being posted either, after 6.0 was released(render times maybe??). I've stuck with Bryce because it is VERY simple to use and work with, but yet also very powerful, which alot people don't see. It should pick up after the holidays, when Santa gave that shiny new computer hardware to use.
yup. It's all those heretics and backsliders..;) Maybe we're just too easy. If we were more like that Pse forum, with constant threads about 'what is art', 'where do I find x', etc., and argued and fought more..;) sounds crazy, but there it is..;)

It just dawned on me that this forum is what we make it. It's past glory was not due to some magic element provided by R'osity hierarchy or anyone else for that matter. It's whole personality and reason for being was/is a place for folks with a common interest to help, seek help, teach, be taught, speak, be heard, laugh, and at times a haven and shoulder to cry on-- a place to share.
Quest has made a good point. Others have made good points. For every person who post to a thread here there are probably 10 lurkers reading it. A couple months ago Drac and Phil Drawbridge came over to visit, for the purpuse of not turning their backs on the group who had been with them a long time. Bravo for them.
Rayraz has presented a challenge about studio lighing. He is sooo far ahead of me on 3d apps that I have no clue about what he is talking about most of the time. I challange Rayraz and others who understand the thing to **show us their attempts and why this did work and that didn't. If that was to happen, I might understand what he is talking about.
** In the past there was at least weekly someone posting a mini-tut about a neat this or that.
**Here is my challenge, 1) lurkers, don't be afraid to ask. 2) If you discover something neat, share it here. I say if you have ever had a comment on an image posting stating "I don't know how you did that" then that means probably 5 more people wonder the same thing. So come here and upload the explanation. You may not get famous but you will be appreciated for making Bryce easier or more fun.
**The Bryce forum at Renderosity might come alive and new friends made.

Global warming.
This forum is going through a quiet period at the moment. But compared to what?
The Earth is warming up, and people consider this a potential disaster. What needs to be understood is our planet is going through the coldest million years in its history. Scientists say a 2 degree mean temp rise would be a catastrophy, but the age of Dinosaurs was twice that rise.
My Point. Is the forum slow, or are we just coming out of a golden period of posting?
Same here. I actually like Bryce 6! But I was abroad (Holland, Paris), got the flu and completely rebuild my site at a new domain. January I hope to pick up rendering again!
I know I've been slow because of work and holidays. I'm also a little depressed that I choked on my image I had been trying to get set, but it's wierd that my muse seems to be on a union mandated break whenever I get the time to start on it again. So I guess my concert image has to wait for a bit longer. Maybe I'll go back to my roundhouse image if I can. Anyway.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Analog-x. This might be the time for you to put some images up on E-bay or put some overpriced models up on Turbosquid? If you sold images, you would not have to get them printed up until you actually had orders for some.

Hrm, I hope to be doing more rendering if anyone can figure out the last steps to that cgsphere challenge (older thread).
Real life is taking a lot of time away from my own rendering projects. I own my own business, took a trip to Denmark, rushed to do Christmas shopping when I got back, and there's still two deadlines for two clients that are rapidly approaching. But little by little I'm getting rendering done.
I'm hoping the cgsphere challenge would be something that helps drum up activity around here. In the past I only visited this forum to ask a question. I started to change after IM'ing to several RD members to discuss our projects. It was fun so I started to come to the forum more and more. But what got me really excited was the release of B6 and then the cgsphere challenge--as a way to test/show/promote B6's capabilities.
But I'm here now, and I like the forum, so I think i'll stay and contribute beyond just asking questions. :-)
I'd do more if I had a working computer - plus an available internet connection connected to it.
As it is I constantly feel the loss of both. The computer I am getting back but I'll only be able to contact the forums via work/college computers - apart from the occassional fortnightly weekend but so far even then I'm using a computer that's not my own.
It'll take a while to have anything to post - worth posting or not worth posting - right now I can't even post a screen shot of a problem like I used to.
I'm sure I could think of a load of stuff to post - once my computer is sorted.
I already have a new Wings model of a skimmer in the pipelines, as soon as I get various bits and bobs back and running I'll be able to post something... I hope.

As someone who got very excited about being active here when Bryce 6 was released, the PHP problems for the whole site meant I gave up being active anywhere on Rendo. Since mid December or so the problems I was having seemed to clear up. However, having gotten out of the habit (that had been just newly formed) of browsing Rendo, it's taken weeks for me to bother to check out the forums again.
Have to say I've had a lot of fun with Bryce 6 water and CP's turtles. Hope to get back to more Bryce things soon.

As far as I could tell, the last topic in here that I started, vanished into thin air. No warning. No notification. Just Poof!
With that, I figured that I am no longer welcome in here. So I stopped coming in, until now.
Besides, I have tons of topic reply notifications from other communities that I get in email.
In addition to everything mentioned in previous posts in this topic, Vue 6 Easel, Esprit, an Pro Studio went into Pre Release, Poser 7 came out, and those are new toys to play with.
I was on summer vacation, and didnt really come in to say hi.
When i got back, i saw a ton of new people, and the load up time was really slow.
Now i only stop in to say hi, or if i have a WIP that needs checking.
So, hi to all and what happened to:
Zhann?
AS?
Moongoat?
Rochr?
Drac (yeah he has his own site but still...)?
erosiaart?
shadowdragonlord (lordstormdragon)?
Rayraz?

Since the outcome of Bryce 6 things haven’t been merry around here accept for the occasional HDRI post. Has the anticipation not come to fruition? Would anyone care to comment about this lack of interest? Compared to earlier years, this forum is apparently way down in activity.
