I been running P7 on my AMD dual core and have had no problems I really love it over my old machine.
Quad core Core 2 Duo, pretty pleased with render times. I couldn't really recommend AMD if you're willing to spend the money for more speed.
I have it on my hyperthreading processor running at 3 GHz. Make sure you choose 4 threads instead of 2.
It is funky how it renders though. Looks like the top half of the image is rendered on one processor and the bottom half on the other processor. 4 threads do speed up times.
Wonder what it would do in a quad processor system? :tongue1:

1 core gets 1 thread, which is great ... until 3 threads are done and one thread is still going. Then you cuss at e frontiers.
Jugoth An AMD dual core is just as good as a Pentium. The difference is you will pay more for a Pentium which is not worth the extra money. Your biggest problem that I see is you have an onboard video card. You need to get a good SLI card. I suggest an Nvidia GTX 8800. That's what I'm running. It's $ but it's worth the money. You also need to get at least 2 gigs of memory. I'm running 4 gigs at the moment and Poser 6 and 7 work great. Adrian
Render benchmark numbers don't really bear that out.

AMD only gets competitive with the Intel chips when you buy a pair of them, and a two-socket board to put them in. Price for that config ends up more than the most expensive Intel config (although price will vary over time). Filter out the gaming and general "system performance" benchmarks, they have nothing to do with how machines act with a multithreaded renderer like Vue or now, Poser 7.
IT's rabbit season! No, it's duck season! Rabbit season, duck season FIRE! That's what CPU debates remind me of. A bugs bunny and daffy duck cartoon...LOL!
I agree with Circumvent you need to loose the on-board video and get a good PCI-E video card and you'll see the difference.
True you see but im not fussed as ill be getting a 256mb card from a freind soon and when get money, will be getting a 512mb card.
I remember all those years ago when i upadet my 386 to a 486, i had an AMD dx4 - 133 put in and told peeps it faster than intel 486, they went intel but had laugh with me fast machine even put a 16mg voodoo card in.
486 still works today and loved the amd and intell arguments from all those years back, but new machine wont be used much on internet, it's gone have a microsoft update free zone.
Sometimes its AMD that gives you the most bang for the buck, sometimes it's Intel. As of right now, it's Intel.
I bet the people at AMD are working their asses off to come up with a CPU that can compete with the Core 2 Duos, and I have no doubt that they eventually will catch up again.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
The new duo core processor is faster than amd at moment as amd have not realesed thier new cheap, the amd 64 system is faster than the equivelent intel duo system, the chip you have are new and expensive.
we have to wait till amd new chip to see dif between intel and amd, but for now price wise amd better value than it's intel equivelent, and 1 advantage amd has is cooler processor which makes a big diff, with intel you have to have a big bloody fan to disipate the heat.
in the end dont mater what pc you have we all have the problem, we have a bloody microsoft operating system.
I have a 2800 gig Core2Duo and it does make a big difference in rendering in most 3D programs. It's faster in Poser provided that one doesn't crank the render settings up too high with high res images. Setting the no of threads to 4 seemed to hurt not help, even though e-frontier recommends trying that.

Got a new base unit go along side me p4, AMD dual core 4200, 1 gig mem, no graphic card just use 64mb of onboard pcie 16.
Instaled p7 and working window bit slow but not bothered, did high renders to near max everything, no crashes quick renders.
Then set up in 7 the dual core option to 2 chanels, have had no crashes unlike on me p4,if ya going for a pc for 3d go for amd unlike it's equivalent dual pentium agp 8 board, now they using pcie on later intel dual core chips.
Think of agp 8 as having 1 rail line with info gong up and down the track, if for some reason to much info came 1 way you can get a bottle neck, with pci express you have 4 tracks side by side so info can go up and down without getting a bottle neck.
