Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
That sounds like an excellent workflow there, Steve! :)
I like the idea of doing all your morphs in C4D and batch importing them into Poser. My Japanese sword sold here had tons of morphs and it took forever. How much easier it would have been with Riptide and the Tool Collection by the sounds of it.
Is this the Tool Collection by Dimension3D or PhilC? Can't find it in the store quickly (Rendo is once again back to molasses).
ETA: Never mind, found it. It is the one by Dimension3D. :)
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.

STEVE!! I could Kiss you!!
Do you know how much grief you saved me?
I got it! It works perfectly. I made his mouth open. I'd send a screen shot of this ogre but I only partially got his face textured and my test was done while his mouth was Poser defaulted to Magenta.
I just stretched open his bottom jaw in Cinema and took him through zbrush to smooth out those nasty stretched polys and he's perfectly opening his mouth, it's just closing it now that looks bad. ;-)) I modeled him with his mouth slightly agape so I'm probably going to have to make a separate close mouth morph and forcelimits on the dials the other ways so they don't crunch his face.
Thanks so MUCH!!
Quote - ...then import to cinema using the settings in this image, and the same for the export then you should be good to go...
Thanks for jumping in here Steve! My one comment on your export settings is...
If each of the mesh objects in the scene has a Group Tag with all polygons of that mesh assigned to some group, there is no need for (and it may cause confusion) the Mesh Names -> As Groups option. That option is primarily there in case you want to export a Primitive (non-polygonal) object, but still want to assign it to a group.
BTW, there's also a free Python script in the free section here that will let you create morphs from a full body mesh (I think you have to spawn props first).. I don't have the link handy though.

Yes... exactly. You're likely to get empty groups if you have that option set, but also have all polygons already assigned to some group using selection tags and the Group tag.
Oh, and.. you're welcome :).

...also, If you ever end up with "default_grp" or "default_rgn" or "default_mat" when you import some .obj file (they used to all just be "default", but I changed them a few revs back), then the polygons in those tags were not already assigned to some other group/region/material.
I usually use this as a test when I export some new mesh... I re-import the mesh and look for those tags. If they exist, then I probably missed an assigment somewhere.

Made a model in Cinema 4D, used Spanki's plugin, get a wonderful character into Poser. The problem is, I am trying to make a jaw, teeth, gum, morph to open the mouth and everytime I touch Cinema 4D for any morphing, the morph explodes.
I've tried exporting as a dxf, and 3ds, then it rotates but I thought it might help with vertex order. I can't think of anything I haven't tried and am not sure it the interposer would work since I'm bringing it back to poser for the morph?
