Also, the SR didn't fix the main P7 feature, which is
that the Firefly renderer gives me a beautiful picture of a
polar bear in a snowstorm every time. (i.e. pure white.)
I'm sure this is also more "correct" than the ugly random
stuff in the real picture.
Hi ockham. I got the snowstorm effect too, but only when I had ticked "separate process" ticked.
When I removed that tick it works. (I still leave the number of threads to 2 on my dual core)
Installed the SR1 and now I'm no longer able to import a wavefront object. The status bar runs correct and at the end, there is only the figure circle but no object. Instead of deleting the invisible object I tried File -> new and the result was the new window is black and there is no chance to change the color of the lights.
For me, back to the version without SR1!

Ahhh the pain of dial-up! I will wait on these til I get my sat in. Was also going to put in my second phone line but got snowed in...lol
They told me it rarely snows down at this level but the second night here we get basted with it...heh...teach me to listen to my daughter. 8^)
At least we got everything moved into the house before it started snowing.

May be that there is an object that may import correctly but I tried it with 10 different objects from working figures, not very big , all between 200 kB and 2 MB. Always the same result.

Doctor: So stop bending it like that stupid!
Only because a user finds a workaround to avoid crashes it does not mean the bug should stay not corrected.
More, especially when after a long work session, you may forget all the golden rules you have learnt to prevent your software-tool to crash
PS
plese, do not mention "stupid" or other offending words next time.
It was not necessary in the context of your joke.
@Mask2: You're right. It may not exactly be a bug, but the purpose of
beta testing is to expose such Murphy's Law combinations. Everyone
forgets the rules, and everyone does unexpected things at times.
If the program can't take a new file when in the material room, the menu
choices that import a new file should be disabled when in the mat room.

Sorry for the late reply., but thanks for the render test Ockham! That was about what I figured...and what all of my render tests between ProPack and Poser6 have also found. It's scary that Poser7 is even slower. Once again, I'm still left wondering where is the imrovement in performance?
Well, it looks like SR1 won't be neccessary because I still will not be purchasing Poser7.
Glad to see that I'm not the only one with three different versions of Poser on their hard drive. I wonder how many others out there also have multiple versions loaded? :p
Anyway, thanks again!
ok before I put this into tech support I want to see if anyone else can replicate this:
I load P7, load in a mesh, with render as seperate process ticked I render to a blank screen
I goto Zonealarm, enable Poser to have full rights through the firewall
I hit render, everything works perfectly.
a few minutes later I hit render and I'm back to the blank screen again. no settings in the firewall have changed.
I have both Poser.exe and ffrender.exe at full rights (all sections ticked and set to super)
tried allowing (as per advice given before) 127.0.0.1 for each process so they have a clear path. rendered once no problems, then returned to the blank grey screen on the next render.
and then it gets strange. the area render works perfectly, but the full render blanks out.

@**Jules53757**,can you check this out and see what you get?
Can you elaborate? What exactly are you trying to do and how?
I'm trying to make a morph in the hip portion of a model I'm working on using the create tab/morph brush, befor SR1 it worked fine but now I can only use the morph brush on the chest or abdomen, the hip shows no change when a brush is applied.

Just got this hint in an German forum and, well this works. But why in hell they added this feature? Until now I used P5/ P6/ P7 with my countrysettings German. Now I have to switch to UK or US settings for getting problems in Excel and other Programs I never had before!

The P7 SR1 using Vista Home Premium on my computer causes the Firefly rendor to lock up at the very end of the render no matter what settings I use. I had set a system restore so i restored back to pre-SR1. With out the SR1 I can render with any settings, no problem.

Dude it was a JOKE! It also happens to be the way I feel customers are sometimes treated by CP support. Those who can relate will find it funny, those who can't, won't. Whatever your point of view, it was presented as a joke. If you wish to be offended by Jokes, I'd suggest you stop reading the forums around here. theyr'e full of them!
I seem to be having a different problem then those listed so far. I load V4 into Poser 7(haven't had any problems with P7 and V4 before SR1) and pose her the way I want her, I then use a pose file to change her eye color and instead of changing the color of her eyes suddenly her lower legs and feet get folded up into a her thighs which are then crossed. I get the same result with and without the IK turned on. I've already checked the pose file for changing the eye color and it only lists the eye parts and no other part of the body. Just thought I would throw out another strange event with Poser 7 and the SR1.

For those installing the ENGLISH service release in NON ENGLISH versions of Poser, uhm...it's likely that's the cause of the problems you are having. I'll check with the bosses to confirm that but I should mention that we usually release versions of our Service Releases in other languages after the initial English release. It's generally not suggested that you install service releases that aren't for your particular region, as that may cause instability and or a degradation in performance.
This seems to be a problem when installing the english SR1 on top of an english Poser 7
running on a German Windows XP SR2.
I am getting the "import object error". Meaning no matter which object I import, there is nothing to see.
If I create a new scene, all lights are turned off and there is no way to fix it!
Have to restart Poser and work from that new scene.
Haven't tried anything else yet.
I'll try uninstalling P7, reinstall and update and see if that will help :-)
By the way, this is the first time, that I am really having problems with Poser.
Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.
Quote - They do not mention a bug that's occurring to me (windows XP):
P7 closes and exits to desktop when i try to open a .pz3 file when in the material room
Hopefully we can figure out what is going on...
