Subject: Can you use Poser People as Ecosystems to make a crowd, or is that too memory in

And how would you do it,,,... . AM i correct in this method? : 1. save 2 different poser files with 2 different poser characters as 3ds or OBJ. 2. Open Vue, and go to your Object libraries and ADD new collection and search for the folder containing those 2 files. 3. THAT's it. use them in ecosystems is that right? And if i make an ecosystem of 100 poser characters, will it work or crash my system?

That should work.  Crashing will depend on your system.  I have a meager system and can easily handle crowds of up to 100.  If you use Poser files directly, I think there may be some issues.  I don't use Poser, but I do use exported 3ds and OBJ from other software.

I would recommend opening up your poser figures directly in Vue and then save them as Vue vob's, not 3ds or OBJ.

Another way to do crowds depending on the use is to make an Alpha plane image in Poser and then use them on billboards in Vue, you can add thousands this way for little cost in resource. The only down side is repetitiveness, you need to do a few Alpha pictures to get variations. This "army" of Sci-Fi soldiers was done in this way!

Yes you can - here's an example of just that:

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/media/folder_141/file_1406452.jpg

I imported each pz3 individually into V6I, making sure that "use Poser shader" & "re-pose within Vue" were NOT ticked, then saved as a .vob.  I used about 6 - 7 different figures in order to make the crowd look random.

The crowd on the walkway is an eco-system applied to a plane, the group on the left was created using the paint eco-system function.

One final point - materials from Poser often do not load correctly into Vue, so expect to spend some time fine-tuning before you save the finished object!!  :-)

uses DIVX format
;)

I've been working on somehting, sicne it's going to have many diffferent figures I optomized it a lot.
-Used as many of the same materials as possible across all figures, each material takes resources, if they cna share same material that helps.
-I used michael 1 reduced figure, so much less polys, deleted body parts that wouldn't be seen on each figure.
