Subject: Melancholy Baby

I bought RM Melancholy Baby, even though the author warned that the product wasn't tested in DAZ Studio. I took a chance as one reviewer said that it works just fine in DAZ Studio.

I installed the files (Windows XP) by dragging the product runtime folder onto my DAZ runtime folder. This should put the folders/files in the correct places. However the product gives error messages about file locations when I try to use it.

I think the problem is related to where the RM Morphs folder is placed.

Has anyone successfully installed this product in DAZ studios, and what is the solution?

It sounds as if you have a Runtime folder inside a Runtime folder inside your Poser content folder - is that so? If it is, you need to move the stuff in the inner Runtime into the outer Runtime for it to work. Also, do you have any required products for the item (I'm not familiar with it).

Thanks for replying.

I only have one Runtime folder.

In windows, by dragging the product runtime folder onto DAZ studio's runtime folder, the product's subfolders and files should be placed in the correct DAZ folders.

The product has 3 folders :

RM MelBaby was placed in the librariesPose folder (contains pz2/ rsr files)

RM Morphs was placed in the libraries folder (contains small pz2 files)

RM MelBaby was placed in librariestextures (contains jpeg files)

I've checked the paths by viewing the pz2 files in notepad, and the folders seem to be in the correct folders. Perhaps I'm not using the product correctly?

If anyone has experience of using this product in DAZ studios, I would be grateful to hear your advice

ok so the files are showing up in your content library right? also you are aware that you need Aiko 3 Complete package from DAZ to use this package?

Thanks for your reply.

I have Aiko 3 and all her morphs. Perhaps it depends on which one I use to start with. I need to play around with it some more methinks.

I was having a looking at the paths in the various files again. I noticed that the poser folders were spelt in title case, eg Libraries and Textures whereas the DAZ folders are spelt libraries and textures. As I kept getting missing file errors I assume that the scripts are case sensitive. The fix would be running search and replace in a text editor for each file.

Has anyone else had experience of this?

Case shouldn't make a difference.  Since Aiko's morphs are embedded in the figure file (!Aiko 3, not Aiko 3 LE) you wouldn't get an error message even if you were using the wrong figure - exactly which files are being reported missing?

Thanks for your interest.

Using !Aiko 3 I double click the !! RM MelBaby-INJ.PZ2 file which starts the open dialog box. I then get an error message "Unexpected '}' found in file on line 1710 in " . Unfortunately I cannot read the path as the dialog box isn't wide enough to show it all, only C:programs.

Then if I try any other of the MelBaby files eg.RMMB MU1.pz2 I get the 'cannot find a file for RM' error message. The open dialog box offers me a locate option, where I can click on the RMMB MU1.png image file, but it doesn't display properly, probably because the first file hasn't loaded in correctly.

The log.txt file in the application folder should have the full details of the error message (along with a lot of other stuff - use your text editor's find command to go to the right line), though the rest of the "Unexpected '}' found in file on line 1710 in "  is probably going to point to the pose file you were appying. It sounds as if there's something odd in the formatting of the files and that's confusing D|S - try going to the line of the pz32 mentioned in the error message in a text editor and see what's there.

file_373696.doc

Thanks for telling me about the log file. I've copied part of it which relates to the RM MelBaby files. (Attachment RM MelBaby). As you will see, there are many Unexpected '}' errors for each file that the program attempts to load.

I've had the same problem and tried renaming the folder to what is was looking for and that didn't totally work either, so I apply the textures by hand under surfaces.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
