Subject: OT: to replace wordpad / notepad

I'm not into typing a lot, so normally wordpad is sufficient for me. But on my laptop I don't have wordpad, not even hidden (I did search).
When I enter wordpad replacement in Google, I'm overwhelmed wirth an app called Jarte, but the interface looks not really trustworthy.

So what would you recommend to replace wordpad? (evt notepad incl.)

Go get edit pad pro. It rocks. You can do endless thinsg with it links sorting, alphabetical ordering, deleteling duplicate lines or text, tec.

It can also open much larger documents that wordpad.

You could also checkout notepad++.
It has interesting features like block selection or syntax highlighting and its FREE!!!!

The freeware version of EditPad - EditPad Lite - is useful as well. That's the editor I use.

I too use EditPad Lite, and am very satisfied with it. But note that this is a text editor, not a word processor.

there's also something called the Crimson editor...which sounds like a bad movie, but I've heard good things about it..

i've tried tons, but i've stuck with www.emeditor.com for -everything-, cr2/pz2 editing, web work (html/css/php, etc ). going on 3 or 4 years now i think.

Used Ultraedit since Win 95, the DOS version before that. Awhile ago someone posted a Uedit Wordfile for Poser in this forum, since then Poserfiles open colorcoded.

UltraEdit here - and that Wordfile was from me. :)

Since then, I've found Dimension3D's PoserEd to be much better at Poser file editing - or just finding stuff in these massive files.

I'll have to try EditPad Lite as well.

If you ever need to do straight Unicode editing, there is only one choice: SC UniPad. You will pay for it though ($199).

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.
