Good luck!  UV mapping makes my brain want to melt.  You're a saint, man! LOL  Or at least, to quote Ruyard Kipling, "You're a braver man than I."

Now I know why you ahve that cap on in your AV - it's so we can;t see how much hair you pulled out remapping Posette :o)

Dave, I am surprised you have not grabbed the free Apollo Maximus. He has so many morphs you can make him into anything. Also the free Mayadoll is cute with some of Yamato's free characters and the new Tuyuko. When I think of the money I have spent when there are so many nice freebies out there, I am ashamed (sort of, LOL!)

PS. Why don't your post a tut on UV mapping. I am clueless.

I have Appollo, I just don't care to use him, prefering to enhance the tried and true Duke instead.  I've also tried MayaDoll, but gave upin disgust.  Her bust is just too unnatural, and I don't like the way her shins attache to her legs BEHIND the kanee, instead of beneath them.  No, Posette and Duke are the teh BEST.  Long live the Queen and her Consort!

:O) I've got to admire your spunk. I'm still a big fan of the P5s, but the P4s have value and remember being pretty happy with some custom morphing I did on them waaaay back in the day.

Then you have to remap the orignal Poser kids to take those cute Matt and Maddie and the Millenium kids textures! No rest for the wicked, LOL!

The only part of teh process I dread is the feet.  The hands are awfull, but the feet are a real horror.  They've never been mapped, and so I first have to seperate them into two planar surfaces, but then search out all the bits of facets that didn't seperate properly.  It's a real PITA, and not the kind that  I eat with Humus.

For anyone interested in the remapping itself, I give a few pointes here.

1. It’s always easier to remap an object, than it is to make an initial map of an unmapped object.
2. When mapping, look for patterns, and try to fit them against whatever template you’re using.  With the Duke (aka Dork), I’ve proceeded thus: 1. Since his UV is already divided longitudinally, I first tried to match the front texture as much as possible with the texture of M3.  What I mainly watched out for, was to line up Duke’s navel and nipples with those of M3’s.  All else could, and will, be worked out as soon as I got these three points to correspond and correlate to each other.
3. I then divided the back texture into four quarters, i.e. Left and Right Shoulders, and Left and Right Buttocks.  These I then jockey into the correct position vis-à-vis the front texture.  The shoulders I have to flip vertically so, after being melded/stitched to the front texture, it will fold correctly around behind the arms and back.
4. The head I’ll do in a similar fashion, first I’ll jockey the face until the eyes and nose match up (if the lips don’t match, their vertices can be moved manually into place later, but the eyes and nose are the MOST important features to line up properly.  Get these right, then everything else follows).  The back of the head (Scalp), I then divide longitudinally into two halves: Left and Right; and these I then line up on either side of the head, stitch together and move the vertices into place, as required. 
5. When mapping a symmetrical object, it’s easier if you do one side first, and then save as a template.  This template can then be opened in a paint program (one that allows layering).  The map side can then be selected and copied and pasted onto a NEW layer, and then flipped horizontally.  This should then be jockeyed so that it covers the UNMAPPED half of the template, in such a way that the two halves both match and mirror each other.  Save as a New Template, and then use this to aid in remapping the unmapped halves of the object.  The second half always is easier (and quicker) once you have guide as to where to put the vertices.

This, in a nutshell, is what I’m doing with The Duke (dork), and have done previously with PosetteV3; the rest is just detail (and sometimes extremely tedious detail at that).  DPH

Just an idea... can you cut off the feet, make some temporary groups as markers and try spherical maping or something that opens up the mesh more and then reattach and de-group them to do the final mapping?

Can you make a template zoomed in on the foot only and map a foot only object to it then retatch the foot and scale it down to the standard map?

Just random ideas from a know nothing :)

I'm not sure.  My conservative nature baulks somewhat at so radical approach, for fear that it MIGHT ruin all that I have done(yes, I know, save as a NEW file first).   My remapping of Posette was once set back three hours (work lost), because my anti-virus decided to do an in-depth scan just at the moment that I was saving my work.  The pait blistered on my walls from my heartfelt curses in three languages: English, Hebrew, & Arabic.

Lukily I had a previous day's version saved in a seperate folder, but to redo three hours of work generally takes three more hours.  Usually what I do is hide all other material groups, and then do a Planar-split to the feet, and then spend the next week and a half stitching them back together, but on a flat plane instead.  This is slow, tedious, and irksome; but effective. I make them fit all the screen, use this template and then resize back on the regular position/size

And like for Posette-V3, I am very interested in getting Dork-M3. I like Wardrobe Wizard to convert clothes but there is nothing like the original and I have so many clothes for these 2!

Awesome work going on there Mr Hoadley!!!  Now if you could just remap the Dork to look like "THE Duke" that would be mighty nice Pilgrim!!!  LOLZ!!!  Really though, I'm totally impressed with your efforts with PosetteV3 and now the Dork!!!  UV mapping is tedious and I've never had the patience for it, so I gotta give ya credit in that department!!!

Maybe it's not a really good day to be working on Dork then. Maybe what you needed most here today is moral support about the memorial more than about the remapping. In any case, I empathize with you: losing loved ones is always hard and even more so when it's to satisfy the "great men" of this world. ;o(

To advoid the sitution that I just went through with PosetteV3 and morphs that I shouldn't have included, I'm asking people to DONATE face shaping and body shaping morphs that I may include in the final Cr2.  As I donate my time and energy to remapping, please donate your morphs that this figure may stand on a par with the Unimesh and even Anton's Apollo.

@ David  All any of us can do is act with the purest of thought and try to act with purpose with a free heart.  If any mistakes are done, some people can never understand, because they think they are perfect.

If you made a mistake, you can apologize to the parties offended, fix the problem, admit you made a mistake and move on.  I am not, nor have I ever known any "perfect" people.  I've known people who come close, but not mistake free.

Life is filled with anticipation and of course, disappointment.  No matter what you do, someone will suffer one or even both.  I do not suffer mfrom either at present.  I have appreciation for your hard work.  Do not get discouraged.

EDIT>  WHen you get the zip file done up, let us know, I'll download the new one, and delete the old one!  If only the world's problems were so easy to fix. :laugh:  Pencils have erasers for WHAT reason again?

I've sent new Cr2's twice now to Victoria_Lee, because they keep telling me piecemeal what they don't like.  So, the present Cr2 is less 4 character morphs; which, of course, IF you want to, can still be DL'd fropm PF.

The dork looks good, Dave! I like him hairy. Don't get discouraged. This is a hobby and should be fun!!!! Don't let people get you down. No one is forcing them to use Posette if they don't like her. I have problems with a obnoxious teenage girl whose mother owns the horsefarm where I board my horse. I have really bad knees and it is hard for me to get on my tall horse. This nasty (insert fowl languarge here) laughs at me. A lot of the time I leave the farm feeling really down because of the crap she puts me through. I have known her since she was 5, so she thinks I'm fair game to ridicule. Anyway, don't feel bad over stuff said online. At least we can delete it or turn off the PC.

David, don't let a few d*ckheads stop you from doing what you are doing. You are very generous with your time and talents.
