Hi everyone. I'm having some problems in Vue D'esprit 2. I'm trying to align a bump map with a plane so that the top of the map is the top of the plane etc. I've tried it with the terain editor, but it results in far to many polygons. Thanx. P.s the bar in the middle is supposed to be at the top.

Hi Jimmi Slim, and welcome! That's a really easy fix! (lucky you, huh?). All you need to do is enter the material editor by double clicking on your material preview at the top of the world browser. Then at the bottom left where it says "Picture Scale", just put a minus sign in front of the 1.00 in the Y coordinate (make it -1.00). That's all there is to it. Your map will be flipped! ;) You may need to bring your plane down a bit to line it up, but it should be just fine. Good luck. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll try and post a screen shot so you can see what I'm talking about :). Laurie

By the way, you can flip the bumps the same way if you right click on your bump preview and choose "Edit Function" while you are in the Material Editor. Laurie

heyas; laurie; i dont believe that is his problem. although images do seem to be projected backwards through planes. so using -1 for the x and y scale will flip them around properly. THIS problem looks like the ol' 3-tile centered/uncentered problem. jim, if the image has the bar at the top, like where you want it on the plane, then try setting the material scale to 3 instead of 1. and also i think you need to set the material to object space, not world. you might also need to set the x/y offset to half the picture x/y length, but you might not need to.

I think opening the material and checking Object Space (at the top of the material editor) will do the trick. And possibly you may need to turn the plane or cube around, or flip it over. When dealing with primitives, I've always found it easier to flip the primitive than the material, but it depends on what you're building. Good luck! :)

Thanks a lot for all your help. I think I've got it to work, it needed a combination of all your input. Thanks again.

Glad to hear it! :)
