I was photographing Venus the other night. (That's it in the upper left corner)

I have no idea what so ever what that is in the bottom right corner.  I didn't even notice it till I downloaded the photos from my camera to my computer and ran across this one.

Anyone have any idea?

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

I have no idea, but if you mysteriously go missing, we'll know the CIA has you (LINK)

Spot on your lens :)

starfish42 ( ) posted Sat, 23 June 2007 at 8:30 AM

It looks to me like a reflection in your camera - not uncommon in  astrophotography. Why don't you try an astronomy forum to get more info?

It also looks remarkably like one of the specular nodes in the Poser material room ; )

Now that it's magnified lots, it looks like a piece of cotton fibre....lint. The coloured area is probably just caused from the flash.

I have to agree with thefixer. Definitely a ghostly orb...

its Galactacus from that fantastic 4 rise of the silver surfer film, its probably going to a promo for the film..

<------ Maybe the guys who built this face on Mars coming to visit?

Nahhh...

Hmmmmmm... Ah ha!  PEPERONI PIZZA!  (geep's blow up makes me hungry)

No that's not it...

It's got a green fring. Hmmmm.... I'd say dust but it would require a flash to get that and no such thing happens in astro photography. Lens coatings often have a green tone to them. Possibly a internal lens flare? Another possibility is a plane got into the view just as it was taken and it's the out of focus light from it. Then again who knows? It sure looks cool though. ^_^

My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things

Attached Link: Here's what a geode looks like ...

file_380907.jpg

Hark, a geode !

Actually, I think it's just a geode that hasn't grown it's outer shell yet.

It develops a hard protective outer crust as it plummets to earth.  Otherwise, it would get all burned up and we would never see one ....... except for .... the most excellent picture at the top of this post. 😄

Or, it might just be ............................................... a lens flare. :blink:___Oh, do ya think?

I am voting on the out of focus dust spec.  Commonly referred to as a ghostly orb.  For some reason digital cameras pick them up where film ones do not.

**Geodes do not come from space.  They grow here on Earth.  In geode beds like the [ Dugway Geode Beds in Utah.
