Subject: Remapping Arduino's Eve

While taking a break from remapping V4.1 I've decided to relax by remapping Arduino's EveV2.  Does THIS make me some kind of Pervert? I've made the interesting discovery that somehow the fingernails of both hands have some how gotten fused together, each 9on top of the other -wierd.  Anyway, having cloned the head and the feet (trying to clone also the forearms, shins, and hands left a gap at the joints), and using a template from PosetteV3, it shouldn't take me long to complete.  So for thoses who'd like to texture Eve with a V3 MAT, your wishes will soon come true. DPH

Eve was the variation of Posette that became the prototype for the DAZ Vikies.  When Torino decide to rerig Posette, he pioneered the concept of subdividing the Hip and  Thigh joint but inserting a Buttocks group between them and thus also rainsing the joint higher into the hip.  this vastly reduce the Pointy Butt that Posette acquired when she bent over. 
Also pioneered by Torino was the inverted T chest,  with vastly expanded Collar groups.  An interesting fact about Posette Eve is that when her collar is raised of moved, her breastsw move in tandem, something that Vicky couldn't do with all her increase in vertices until V3.  Along the line, someone also incorporated Hellborn's P3 Posette's built-in genital hip into Eve, so that Eve is anatomically correct, while V4 still isn't.  Hopefully, by making her more texturely compatable with the Unimeshes, her popularity and usefullness will increase.

For those interested in learning about the (re)mapping process, here is a glimps of how it's doen.  If you look carefully, you'll see that what's require is to work methodiacally from the fringe inward.  As you can see, as I work along the fringe of the object, I'm gradually pulling the vertices outward to where I want them.  This is a slow process, but one that'll eventually insure success (vertice by vertice). The completed Right Hand.  Now for the left and the fingernails.  Thank G-d, I was able to clone the feet from PosetteV3, so I don't have to remap either them or the Toenails ( a real nightmare there, sice they were never planared, but remained 3 dimensional.  Splitting them left all sorts of fragments both top and bottom, which made for incredible difficulties. For those interested in the remapping process itself, I'll give here a few pointers.

  1. It’s always easier to remap an object, than it is to make an initial map of an unmapped object.
  2. When mapping, look for patterns, and try to fit them against whatever template you’re using.  What I did with the Duke (aka Dork), was to proceed thus: 1. Since his UV was already divided longitudinally, I first tried to match the front texture as much as possible with the texture of M3.  What I mainly watched out for, was to line up his navel and nipples with those of M3’s.  All else could, and will, be worked out as soon as I got these three points to correspond and correlate to each other.
  3. I then divided the back texture into four quarters, i.e. Left and Right Shoulders, and Left and Right Buttocks.  These I then jockey into the correct position vis-à-vis the front texture.  The shoulders I have to flip vertically so, after being melded/stitched to the front texture, it will fold correctly around behind the arms and back.
  4. The head I’ll do in a similar fashion, first I’ll jockey the face until the eyes and nose match up (if the lips don’t match, their vertices can be moved manually into place later, but the eyes and nose are the MOST important features to line up properly.  Get these right, then everything else follows).  The back of the head (Scalp), I then divide longitudinally into two halves: Left and Right; and these I then line up on either side of the head, stitch together and move the vertices into place, as required. 
  5. When mapping a symmetrical object, it’s easier if you do one side first, and then save as a template.  This template can then be opened in a paint program (one that allows layering).  The map side can then be selected and copied and pasted onto a NEW layer, and then flipped horizontally.  This should then be jockeyed so that it covers the UNMAPPED half of the template, in such a way that the two halves both match and mirror each other.  Save as a New Template, and then use this to aid in remapping the unmapped halves of the object.  The second half always is easier (and quicker) once you have guide as to where to put the vertices.

Man, Dave, it looks like you've really been absorbing a lot about this kind of thing!  Thanks for sharing!

Just out of curiosity, are you planning to replace Eve's head with that of Posette V3?  Also, would this remap work with Latexa, too?  Latexa is similar to Eve, but she also, somehow, incorporates JPs close to what the improved ones Yamato made for Posette.

**I've already cloned PosetteV3's head onto my working model (and her feet too), so as to cut down on the amount of redundant labor.  I tried to clone the forearms and hands tool but they refused to weld to the shoulders, so I'm having to remap them again.  As far as Latexa is concerned, I can't say for sure.  I do know that Arduino's hip is a bit different from Traveler's Eve 4, in that none of Eve 4's genital MT's work on Arduino's EveV2.  Ultimately, I believe that the joints are confingured in trhe Cr2, so I'd say just take Latexa's Cr2 and load it into a text editor, and do a redirect of it's target object.  If you don't know how to do that, then email me , and I'll try to give you more detailed instructions.

Below is enclosed Arduino's README that comes with his EveV2.  It might help to answer some of the questions that concern this model.  The MAT poses of course will no longer work with my remapped model, but I'm thinking to make it compatable with V3's MAT poses, besides being texturally compatable (this means simply to rename the material zone to be identical to those of V3, besides remapping her.  I was a little leary of doing this with PosetteV3 because a whole slew of people were screaming at me about copywrite violations.  We'll see.

Eve It is not a perfect character, it is the work of many artists, it is indeed free, for this reason you will forgive any defects.

This character is not comparable to those that I have done for Victoria, But despite the difficulties, I have tried to do an acceptable job!

Progerss after a whole day's remapping.  I've substituted Arduino's Cr2 for Plazio's Latexa's, because of the supposedly better joint parameters ( I had to delete all of Plazio's hip and absomen morphs, because they don't work with Arduino's revised mesh, but there are worse things in life than having to transfer MT's from one Cr2 to another). Latexa comes with a pubic hair prop, which I exported and remapped to take V3's trans map, thus both the eyebrows (taken and remapped from Aprish's PosetteV2), eyelashes, and pubic hair are now all compatable with a standard V3 trans map. The naval needs to be adjusted, but taht's no real big deal.  Working from a PosetteV3's UV template, everything is a lot faste.  This figure should be in Freestuff sopmetime next week. DPH

WOW! Terrific. I love Eve but the map mess has always been grief. Traveler's .cr2 is the one with all the great FBMs isn't it?

Traveler's Cr2 has alot of good FBM's, but I doubt that they'll work on Arduino's mesh.  None of the genital morphs do, and the regular hip and abdominal morphs, such as 'Pupy Fat' just create a mess.  On the other hand, he seems to have corrected some defects to the mesh that were inherent to preverious versions of Eve which should be a benefit.  Perhaps You could make us some new FBM's to go with it.  I'll be sending you a Beta version soon.

Here you can see why remapping the genitals will be a real Levantine PITA (and without the humus).  Hellborn's WWG and P4WWG and Eve have had their genitals hacked, diced and sliced so many times that what remains is one unholy mess.  Sorting this out and remapping it will take a lot of dedication and concentration on my part, but I DO believe that it is doable.  Will keep you'll posted. DPH
