Greetings all.

Does anyone here know a bit of Polish?

I am hunting down a program I used to use. A DOS program that enabled a Windows computer to have a transparent DOS window. It was called eConsole. It had problems with Windows XP so I stopped using it. Now with Vista it doesn't want to work... it tries though. Anyway, doing some Googling I found a possible lead... one site says it has been updated and now works with Vista. There's no link, but I found the company name. Googling that I find no reference to "eConsole" but I do find eAudytor. I have no idea if this is the program I seek, but under a non-English name. I think the site is all in Polish, but I don't completely know. Does "audytor" mean "console"?

Help would be appreciated. The here is the link if anyone is interested in the site. http://ftp.e-audytor.com/download.php

Many thanks!

I tried several on-line translators and each time it came up with no match. I did a bit of digging, and Bazze maybe able to help as he is originally from Poland. Also czarnyrobert is from Poland so he may be able to help aswell.

Over on Rendergods our very own Kitty is living in Poland (although she's Russian), so I'll get her to check it out.

I got kitty (set23ru) to look at it.  She says...

[09:47] set23ru: tis a thingy for automatic controlling and managing software
[09:47] set23ru: for IT ppl
[09:48] set23ru: checks what software is being used, etc etc
[09:48] drawbridgep: ah
[09:48] drawbridgep: probably not what he wanted "Transparent DOS window"
[09:48] set23ru: mostly for sysadmins who want to know what the users get from intrawebs and if it is legal and whom to kill if something goes wrong :)
[09:48] set23ru: nope

Ya, not what I was looking for. Basically eConsole was a transparent DOS window application. It functioned like eTerm does for Linux. I've seen some very impressive Linux desktops where the commandline window was like writing on planes of glass. eConsole enabled this effect for Windows. Oh well.. my quest continues.

Thank you Drawbridgep and Orbital! Your helps were greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

I have something called dosbox, which 'sorta' will run Dos mode programs. I use it to run old 'protected mode' games, like Duke Nukem 3 and heretic..;) it's free, out there on the web somewhere.

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

DosBOX is a good way to run Legacy Dos programms.  IS that what you are trying to do D_A_M ?

Greetings!

Unfortunately no it isn't. What I'll do is look up some old screen captures and will post here so everyone can see what I'm talking about. I made many screen captures of different desktops I've used over the years.. but I think I only have two with eConsole. At one point I had Windows looking like the Enlightenment window manager from Linux with a nice eConsole window... but that one has vanished on me.. not even in the CD backups.... But I know I didn't delete it. So it's somewhere....
