OK, Apollo in Carrara is possible. Adzan brought it to my attention after his success and I had thrown up my hands in disgrace over it. It seems that for all the claims that DAZ Studio scenes are fully compatible in Carrara 6 proved to be a bit of boast and with many bugs that still need to be ironed out. What does work is this:
Load up Apollo 2007 or even Cole 2007 into Carrara. If you haven't added in Runtimes to the Browser (located at the bottom of the Carrara interface then do so, it will make this whole process likity split fast) Select the "Content" tab and then at the far right there is a folder with a bent corner and a little arrow. Click the arrow and choose Add Runtime. Browse to where the Runtime is and select it and click OK. It should then be added. Repeat if you have more than one Runtime you wish to add to the browser. DAZ Studio content is not supported at this time!
OK, got your Runtimes added now?? Good.... OK then....
Expand your Runtime that has Apollo's folders within. You will want to browse to the Pose folder and then find some of the ADS poses. Either the ones that Anton provided or Carodan or Clawshrimp, Makes no difference. Find a character you like. Click, drag and then drop it directly ON to Apollo!!
Presto Change-O. Now look over at the Instance area. Choose the ADS Scale. Look in the Parameters. You will see your dials there.
When I had imported in the Apollo or Cole 2007 figures saved as DAZ Studio scenes none of these dials were present. Really no fun there!! I love Studio but the boasting about scenes being fully supported is not a correct statement. DAZ is already working on an update that supposed to be made available by the end of this month (September)

What do you mean DAZ Studio content is not supported? I added my DS runtime, just like my Poser runtime. I'm able to drag and drop content from either one or both into my C6 scene. Other than the fact that both types of figures and props are huge in scale, they both appear to work fine.
Irene
Irene-
Thanks Richard. I appreciate you taking your time to share the info and the pic here. Great work there.
Irene, do you use Apollo in those DS runtimes?
PS: Richard, if you hear or see any other Apollo's users using C6, let them know please.

You can use the Studio native RUNTIME but you can't use the native Content folders from what I can see!! Try this..... Browse to the Content folder for Studio and add that as a new Folder, NOT A RUNTIME. You then have this folder that expands and you will see all your familiar folders like People, Poses and what ever. click on one the People folder or expand it and then choose the folder that has Apollo or Aiko in it. Do you see any of your saved Scene files in the Browser?? I sure don't!!
Studio has a native Runtime folder within it but all that's in there is like the Egyptian content that came free with DAZ Studio and what ever else you might have loaded into that area. I keep all my Runtimes seperated and safely backed up on 2 other drives (one external) so I don't keep much Poser content in the Content:Runtime runtime!!!

I can't get Apollo’s eyes to follow the 'line of sight' target in Carrara 6 Pro. The eye dials don't turn the eyes. Maybe I can figure out how to access the eye geometry and turn it with the modeling tools.

If the dials on the eyes themselves are not responding, then the "Line of Sight Tool" should still be active.
Can you select and move the part called "Line Of SIght"?

Can you select and move the part called "Line Of SIght"? Yes. Unfortunately it has no effect on the eyes. I wonder if there is some additional step necessary in Carrara 6 to get the eyes to follow? It might be easier to just turn off the "Line of Sight" but I don't know how to do that either.

Hmm. That is odd. Let's see......
And the eye dials have no effect.
I can only guess that it is a problem with C6 and Poser's "PointAt" command. Try this...
Open a copy of Apollo in a word processor and search for "pointAtParm". You will encounter it twice, once for each eye.
see below:
pointAtParm Point At
{
name Point At
initValue 1
hidden 0
forceLimits 4
min 0
max 1
trackingScale 0.005
keys
{
static 0
k 0 1
}
change the "1" highlighted above to zero. See if that works for ya .
Richard you have any luck with eye controls?

Anton, I've altered the cr2 according to your instructions. The eye dials vanished so I attempted to move the eyes with the transform/rotate numerical input. This didn't work. Then I tried to rotate manually by pulling on the sphere with the rotate tool. This moved something in the preview, but the eye hadn’t budged when I rendered.

wierd.
K try completely deleting the two paragraphs:
pointAtParm Point At
{
name Point At

hidden 0
forceLimits 4
min 0
max 1
trackingScale 0.005
keys
{
static 0
k 0 1
}
interpStyleLocked 0
pointAtTarget lEyeTarget:1
}
pointAtParm Point At
{
name Point At
initValue 1
hidden 0
forceLimits 4
min 0
max 1
trackingScale 0.005
keys
{
static 0
k 0 1
}
interpStyleLocked 0
pointAtTarget rEyeTarget:1
}
let me know if that makes a difference.

Hi Anton,
No luck what so ever with the eyes!! :sad: I've tried all the tricks. Unlocked all the options under the Motion: Translation and Rotation areas (before with them locked I couldn't even get his eyes put back in the head after I applied Dan's baby ADS preset. I'm still having issues with the neck looking slightly off but it's OK. While I can move the eyes back into position I can not rotate them at all. It's stuck for lack of a better word. Something is locked down and I can't figure out how to get it unlocked. Got a thread going over at DAZ with similar issues with Step and V3 as well so it's not just Apollo!!
---Wolff On The Prowl---
Anton, I followed your latest instructions, but the eyes are still stuck.

Well some comfort then. :)
Well Apollo and V3 have Slaved dials attached to the rotational and translate dials. V4 does not.
My guess, since there is nothing particularly special or unique about how eyes work in Poser, is that C6 is encountering a syntax it does not understand or expect. Perhaps the dial slaving on the rotational/translate dials.
See, in most figures, almost no other bodypart would have slave on the rotation or tran dials. The test would be to see if other figures with the new uses of advanced hand control slaving also have hand problems. Are some figures having hand paralysis?
Regardless, definately fixable. But it is also definately a C6 bug. Odd noone over there caught it.

Mind if I quote you then Anton over there in hopes that some Carrara expert will happen along like Ringo with a possible solution??
---Wolff On The Prowl---
Done, thanks Anton. Wait and see I guess......................
---Wolff On The Prowl---
Heh, they just released DAZ Studio 1_7_1_9!! DAZ just released a bridge beta for being able to use Photoshop and DAZ Studio together!! They also just updated the free content to include full version of Aiko and a bunch of stuff for her as well as other goodies. It's really crazy!!
---Wolff On The Prowl---
So this has been stated dlk30341?? Hopefully so!!

...I'll add my 2 cents to say that I think the BUG TRACKER is the BEST WAY to get the developers to FIX stuff!... You can either create a Bug Report or a New Feature Request (see link) and this creates a Case Number you can track, UPDATE, etc...You can create cases for Carrara 6, Daz Studio and other software and even cross-link cases if it is a MULTIPLE software issue (C6/DS)... By having it "On The Record" you have a much better chance of getting them to fix an issue- ...ESPECIALLY if you can tell them EXACTLY what the problem is and how they could fix it...
Cool. That looks great. Thanks for posting and sharing.
I do hope the get the yeball glitch worked out. Eyes are important.
The transmap for the lashes. Hmm. Since that is the only part of a figure to use transmapping, perhaps it is a glitch in looking for or reading transmaps. Is this a known bug?
-Anton, creator of Apollo Maximus
"Conviction without truth is denial; Denial in the
face of truth is concealment."
regarding the lashtrans thing, IMVHO it's a minor problem. e.g. if a mat file has the line transparencyMap ":Runtime:textures:Anton'sApolloMaximus:Body:APM_LashTr.jpg" the lashtrans will load in carrara, but if a mat file has the line: transparencyMap ":Runtime:textures:Anton'sApolloMaximus:APM_LashTr.jpg" carrara will ask the user to find the file. unlike poser7, it doesn't have a "deep search" pref AFAIK. since carrara has the "point at" and "tracking" functions, it shouldn't be too difficult to fix it so the eyes are similar to those of v4.1, and I daresay daz would allow reverse engineering of v4.1 so that other models might have proper eye function in carrara.
How then does one point V4's eyes at the camera per sey?? Or tracking. I don't understand how to do this! :sad:
---Wolff On The Prowl---
That is interesting about the maps and the paths.
Apollo's eyedesign predates V4. Not quite sure what you mean, but I am sure it will get worked out if it supports "PointAt". We did test taking out the "PointAt" reference so I am not quite sure the problem is actually with "PointAt". Hopefully a fix will be soon.

Ok, tried amending the texture file as you suggested MissN but it still asks me to locate the trans file, I think I can live with that however frustrating....
One other thing I've noticed is body dials, in DAZ you can dial negative values for morphs like "Osiris" etc, however in C6 I can only get +ve values
Still for the life of can't find the point at feature, or is it just me?
For negative values you will have to, for the time being, type in the - sign with your value and hit Enter. It works fine but yea, they need to get that sorted out as well!!!
---Wolff On The Prowl---
NEATO!! I like that!!! LOL
Thanks for the info Nanc!!

Hi there,
Just wanting to start a thread to gather info for the Apollo FAQ. Many people have said they are happily using Apollo and his features in C6. I though it would be nice to have tips, experience, and how to's in one spot here.
Thankie.
