Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 11 3:50 am)
UV Mapper Pro (by Steve Cox): As far as I know, this is the best UV Mapping tool extent.
MorphManager (Freeware): Simply magic for transferring morphs from one character to another, based on the same figure object.
Cr2 Editor (Freeware): Great for doing Cr2 edit work that Morph Manager cannot do.

Here a few I use, some already mentioned: UVmapperPro AutoGroup Editor Dimension3D Toolkit Cr2editor MorphManager Mover RTEncode/Decode MatPose Edit Wardrobe Wizard Cross Dresser the Tailor Hex for modelling Universal Texture Converter P3do Explorer Out side of Wardrobe Wizard the others listed are stand alone apps. leaving out all of the specialty python scripts that may be version dependant.
I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.
Easypose Underground - excellent tool for all sorts of editing of joints and morphs and ERC connections, as fast and easily as possible. Very well supported by Ajax. I find uses for it on every project I do these days. http://www.runtimedna.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=2881&TopID=162808 cr2 Builder - Free cr2 editor similar concept to cr2 editor but much more robust with many more features. this is my go to cr2 editor http://www.geocities.co.jp/Bookend-Ohgai/9483/tool/CR2Builder/index.html Phi Builder - latest version is nearly 10 years old I believe, but still the easiest tool to create Phi files for complex rigs. http://www.royriggs.com/poser.html Tool Collection - another vote for this awsome set of tools for content production. another package I use on every project. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=37406 Edit Pad Pro - I know this is more of a generic text editor but it has some amazing features built into it and gets used constantly in my production. particularly the ability to do batch processes. like search and replacing multiple lines of text on dozens of files at one time. http://www.editpadpro.com/
oooh, this would be a great addition to the sticky thread we have going in here, about making your own poser clothes!

Quicktime Pro - easy, powerful way to assemble your folder of frames (image sequence) into an animation, then save out to codex/compression.
After Effects for animation post processing
EditPlus (fantastic text and html editor)

and last but not least....
Canvas (ACD) ...which I am sure no one else has heard of, uses or would purchase (because there are a lot of free and low cost 2D apps). You don't need Canvas Ten...Canvas 8 is all you need, works for Mac and PC.

I'm putting this link because it memorializes a very great, very flexible competetor for Photoshop that ALSO is a 'painter.' In many ways it is better than PS. It can also import a folder of frames and make animated gifs.
Oh good - we're off to a good start - add some comments to the apps if you can. @dph - silly me forgetting UVMapper (smack) @geogress - If you need help with Blacksmith3D I can try and help you @wdupre - cr2 editor - I've got to check the link for Cr2 builder not sure I've seen that one @Operaguy - forgot the movie makers - thanks for your additions @Conniekat - could be a sticky I'd like to see more of an organised list of programs and what they are used for so that we build a informative and helpful list for new and old users who are trying to extend their Poser experience @Bobbie25 - I almost echoed SamTherapy but I think I understand @others The Tailor is still a bit of a mystery to me anyone ever written an easy to understand tutorial? I missed some of the most obvious off my list LOL Mind goes blank every now and then ;) UVMapper, Mover, RTEncoder, PD3 Explorer and my favourite Advanced Library by Dizzi Thanks guys, keep them coming Indoda

UVLayout, which Bobbie25 mentioned, is here: www.uvlayout.com/
I can't comment on it, having never used it, but Xena mentioned that she preferred it to UVMapper (thread called "Any Sugestion about a tool set to create clothes for poser??").

There is a program called UVLayout and there are video tutorials you can d/l to see how the program works. I love it myself (I used the beta test version. Helped me to make a truly symmetrical uvmap of the V3 Ultra Catsuit. I just wish I had the $$ to pick up the release version)
Version 2 is out and has demo

Quote - @Conniekat - could be a sticky I'd like to see more of an organised list of programs and what they are used for so that we build a informative and helpful list for new and old users who are trying to extend their Poser experience
That would be really nice to pull together, and mau help the admins with updating the FAQ's around here. It's something they said they need help with.
In any case, I put a link to this thread in the other one (since it's sticky). There's a lot of good info in here, and it keeps coming. I'd hate for it to get lost :)

Well this is what I regularly use in conjuntion with Poser (7)
hexagon (I have trueSpace, AmapiPro, Silo1.4 that I have tried and Carrara Standard that I havn't got to yet but hex just speaks to me) for modelling
RoadKill1.1 (I have uvmapper free, tried UVLayout and would use this is I was rich LOL) but this is free and powerfull and based on Blender's UVMapping so it is OpenSource.
EasyPose Underground 1 (never tried the new version...and got this one for beta'ing the pWizard addon) and truly a great program.
OBJ2CR2 - fantastic cr2 maker...but do not use it much anymore with Poser 7 on the box...the NFR copy I have is for Poser 6
VFBasic (no flames please but this is a good proggy for what it does)
I do have a few more that I do regulary use but these are the ones that I can not see not using.

just to get my noggin knocked..there's a sticky or 2 in the Freepository forum at Daz of various proggies to use...if you want a few more.

Acadia, STOMP can be downloaded from here: Spanki's Prop Shop - go to Downloads, then Utilities. I have my own list of Undoubtedly Useful Utilities. :)
Quote - I hope this does become a sticky. Furthermore, I hope that each of the programs are listed by catagory (like UV Mapping programs, etc.). :)
It would also be super helpful if each could be noted as PC only or Mac/PC compatible . I'm sure other mac users find it very frustrating as I do to get all excited about a really useful sounding utility , follow a link, finally find the page that has system requirements .only to find it a PC ONLY proggy. Grrr.

Hello all, There is, IMHO, a need for a review/list of programs that support Poser in some way. I see the odd message Help with . needed or is it worth buying xyz.exe There are a number of older programs that do not really work that well with the later Poser versions but may be fine with P4. Does anyone else think that this would be a useful thread? To start the ball rolling: PhilC - Wardrobe Wizard - great program - great support PhilC - Cloth Designer - excellent for learning to make clothing with out having to use a 3D editor, OBJ2CR saves time and gets your cloth onto the character, you still need to tweak the joints, very well supported. CRPro - has started to truncate files and wants to change all "NO_MAP" to file"" No update ? Abandon ware? AutoGroup Editor - almost no support -very perculiar middle mouse button operation for rotating, panning etc.. Morph Magic - Some say it works others say it doesn't! Dimension3D Toolkit - seems stable and does the job it's supposed to - not sure about the interface Dimension3D Poser Organizer - same type of interface as the toolkit I'll leave it at that for now ~ there are times when I feel that some of the products that are recommended are not very well supported by the author/or vendor and one can easily spend a great deal of money on tools that actually are more frustrating than need be. Climb in and either defend your favourite tool, recommend its features, ease of use etc, or tell of disappointing purchases. Please keep it civil, Thank you, Indoda
