Subject: Making One Character From Two?

GAH.  I'm probably using the wrong terms for searching, so I apologise if this has been covered already.

I needed a tutorial for cutting two characters to combine into one, specifically, to build a "chimera" from existing models.  (Like the cat and alligator, say, to make an allicator.)

Is there a tutorial around that I'm just missing or not recognizing?  I've been reading Bloodsongs "Grafting new parts", but I'm not sure if that's it or if there's others, as well.  I usually go through as many tutorials as I can before I bail into a new project.  XD

Thanks if you can help!

I don't know of a tutorial specifically geared for this, probably because your going to need a 3d modelling program of of some sort and the instructions would be very specific to that particular program.

Basically you'd need to export the pieces you want from one model as seperate object files from poser, then combine the meshes in the 3d modeling program of your chosing, reimport back to poser and use the setup room to re-rig the new figure.

Not terribly complicated overall, but a great deal of the instructions involved would be how to join the two alternate meshes in the 3d modeling program itself, so I don't know if anyone has written a tutorial for your specific modeller of  preference or not.

There was a thread recently where someone had joined a horse and human torso to make a centaur. IIRC it was done by replacing some parts and then using the morph brush to massage the 2 meshes together. Try searching for the thread.

And yes in a modeller you can go as nuts as you want, but i'm not sure you are legally allowed to modify poser meshes that way.

Oh, no kidding, I wanted it so I wouldn't be swiping as my own work, the original figures would still be required for it to work at all.  Okay, off to find the centaur...
