Subject: Poser Fusion shipping... Opinions???

Poser fusion - the first piece of Poser Pro is here:
http://store.e-frontier.com/us/user/home.php?cat=1808

It's a rebranded BodyStudio with the cumbersome copy protection removed. I am assuming it is 32 AND 64 bit.

I'm sort of concerned that the seem to be piecemealing PoserPro out.

Any thoughts or comments?

Attached Link: Interposer

No sir it seem to be 32 bit and windows only: " * Poser 7 * Maxon CINEMA 4D R9.6-10.5 (32-bit only) * Windows XP or Vista * 700 MHz Pentium class or compatible * 512 MB system RAM (1 GB or more recommended) * OpenGL enabled graphics card or chipset recommended (recent NVIDIA GeForce and ATI Radeon preferred) * 24-bit color display, 1024 x 768 resolution * 1 GB free hard disk space (4 GB recommended) * Internet connection required for Content Paradise" Any Cinema User would have to be truly insane to throw away money on this when Interposer is available for poser content directly in C4D.

I owned Body-studio up to 2.6 and it is a piece of SH----T. This fusion seems to be the same buggy software repackaged to help pay for the development of Poser pro.

Dont spend a cent on this.

Get interposer pro. Great plugin with great support.

jeez! it's starting to appear this one is DOA. :crying:

I thought that was included in the P7Pro Full package.

So $180 for this plug and then another $500 for P7Pro full. Kind of pricing themselve out of the market, aren't they?

Not to mention the poor reviews from C4 users in other forums. Doesn't look good.

Reiss Studio had a promotion... get the new version of the plugin for $49... so like a dumb ass I got it... I was never able to get it to run... Error messages about some dll missing... reinstall product... same thing.  so I fill out the support form on their websitet....  Never heard a word.... and still haven't except I for an email over the weekend trying to sell me the plugin again, but nothing about the one I have already purchased.

Use IPP... don't mess with this thing unless you have money to burn... an never want to get an animation rendered.

Just my $49 rant:)

Ed, what version of the Reiss Studio plugin do you have? If you have version 2.7 of Body Studio, you can get a free update to PoserFusion.

To clear up a few questions, PoserFusion is a newer version, not just a replaced logo - for example, it supports the latest versions of the host applications. Also, regarding the inclusion of PoserFusion in Poser Pro, the PoserFusion web site says:

Quote - Note: This standalone version of PoserFusion (formerly BodyStudio) will be available for a limited time, after which this technology and the PoserFusion product will be integrated into Poser Pro. Support for this version will be limited to one year following the release date of Poser Pro.

I know everyone loves a lively discussion, but it never hurts to gather some information before drawing conclusions.

The Fact Remains that the "Hosting" Plugins from CL to Riess to Smith Micro are very limited and require returning to poser to make changes to the poser asset.
For any Current Cinema4D Owner the Choice of buying IPP over these Windows only Plugins from Riess/SM is a no brainer.

I couldn't agree more with wolf's opinion. For C4D, IPP is the best. And Robert's support for it is superb.

shrug  Once they've got the Lightwave support out, then I'll take a look.

Otherwise, I am planning on purchasing Poser Pro as soon as it hits the market, regardless.

BTW - I hope that Poser Pro will continue support for the Space Navigator, as I've just gotten one.

Former Body Studio user. I don't mean to challenge stewer's expertise, but I have little faith that this plug will be better than its predecessors. I totally don't expect this to happen (but I'm a dreamer so indulge me) but it'd be great if DAZ characters were built as native as possible to other progs such as Mayax, SoftImage, Lightwave, et al without the need of using a hosting plug. On the one hand, it's unrealistic to think that DAZ would spend time developing and rigging characters for up to 10 different apps. On the other hand, it's difficult to say if "professional animators" (as opposed hardcore hobbyists such as myself) would be enticed to use such a product.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Tue, 08 January 2008 at 5:23 PM

So, I was right about it being part of Full P7pro. But they are still selling it separate right now, so I am right in that regard too. LOL So why would someone want to buy it now and not wait for it in P7Pro where it is included and has all the advantages of the new Poser version. Unless your upgrading to the base version which does not have it. But then again, why would you not just buy the full version if you need it and it includes Poser Fusion for all the mentioned software, except Lightwave.

Don't professional animators want to use thier own figures for uniqueness? Daz figures are high poly count, don't these professionals use low poly figures?

Well, that's my point. Poser Fusion (and Poser Pro 7 by extension) appears to want to get users of high-end software to import Poser content (which is not meant to sound condescending). Either they want to increase the number of people using cr2 files OR they're saying that the Poser rendering system is not on par with other apps, as if to say "so here's a way to use another rendering engine" (I'm agree with the first point since I rather like Firefly). The DAZ figures and great, and it took me a long time to get used to the idea of not using them anymore. There's so much stuff out there for them. But several figures are SO recognizable and heavy that I doubt that any "professional animator" would want to use them other than pre-vis or a quick mock-up. In that case, these guys would probably rough out their characters with pen and paper many, many times before stepping foot to the computer so insure that their characters are unique and low-poly. So I guess my question is - what is the advantage of using Poser Fusion / Pro 7?

None other than the render engine of the "host" application
you would have to go back to poser for any tweaks to a figures pose
and the hosted figure will be ignored by any native dynamics or hair
options  of the high end host app.
he is there for render only.

with IPP you can repose change clothing/hair
apply Mat poses apply still &animated poses
apply Mimic speech animation
Apply morphs animate the figure within cinema's timeline
use cinemas SUPERIOR CLOTH  ENGINE
have more than one scene file open at a time& copy and paste between them
batch render etc etc

If you need better render options such a real GI and such
and dont Own C4D or MAX
just spend $89 on vue 6.5 easel
even vue easel allows you to repose a figure after import.

As I said I see ZERO reason for any C4D user to buy a recylced
32 bit PEE CEE only bodystudio plugin

I can't believe it ,I have to pay money  again for upgrading from BS 2.6 to 2.7?There isn't anything new in it except it supports P7 and C4D 10.x .Wow ,we can get PoserFusion Upgrade free for a limited time by buying BS2.7 now. Those sharks at reiss-studio try to suck my money where ever they can. Hey ,Robert IPP is the best.

I never understood why the free hosting plugin for Poser/Cinema 4D version 7 on Mac OS9 was never updated--there was nothing to the plugin, but it worked great, I never had a problem with it. And did I mention it was free? That said, I agree with others about IPP--very good, very stable, and great support.

Poser Fusion is complete crap for 3ds max. Buyer beware.
