So glad I didn't do the window update... I have noticed that everytime there's an update for windows service pack etc. something goes bonkers in some application... You might have to download and re-install the C++ library.... Are u running any Microsoft Office Suite application in the background?
Like outlook or words or something like that? That could be the culprit... I had the same problem when I first started using Bryce 5.5. I don't know what happened but after re-installing the C++library and not opening up Words or Outlook before Bryce, I'm ok...
You also might want to check Microsoft site for further explanation of your error code.

drwtsn32.exe is the doctor watson tool for windows. That's the thingy that gathers information from a crash then pops up the window that asks "would you like to submit a report?" The number 0xc00000005 means the device failed to hook up to the systray. "It didn't initialize and create a control window."
Press control alt delete.
Click on the task Manager button.
When the window pops up click on the applications tab.
look under tasks and see if a copy of Bryce exe is already running. If it is click it and press the end task button.
Look to see if Bryce disappears from the tasks and try to restart Bryce.
Fran...I took the liberty of deleting your image as it contained your name and serial number and as this is an open forum this is a bad place for that.
Re: non starting...well I got the update and no problems here so I would recommend trying the above mentioned steps by Bryster and electroglyph.. ...

Thanks Bobby - I hadn't even realised. Phew!
I think (apart from all the other problems like trying to get Daz sorted etc) I think what's killed the laptop is a bad install of quicktime.
I thought we'd cured the laptop and was copying files from Prog files/DAZ/bryce - not the presets I always keep those up-to-date every so often anyway - I was just making sure, copying scene files etc, even though I think they arrive when you install afresh anyway.... and the laptop bluescreened on me - again.
I store Bryce scene files (my own) on an external drive anyway so they are safe... for now.
I have now got the PC working with it's cool, fresh, new, hard-drive and I'm determindly not looking at the laptop.
Just ordered a new hard drive for the laptop, so when I go home Husband can fit & install that and then try to see if he can save any info from the 'sickypoo' drive.
sigh...
Like I said in another desperate thread not so long ago - back up - often!

(only thing I've done since yesterday evening when it was working just fine is update iTunes and Quicktime) But there was also a Windows update, recently, either last night or the night before.
