I have a question of the 3D gods here. I bought a Cityscape from here that is in Bryce format and would like to convert it to OBJ. However, I learned there is some other conversion that is needed before I can do that conversion, but I have no idea how to do it. Can you help?

You first need to have Bryce 6.1
If you have, the object (Cityscape) needs to be a booleaned object. That is, make it a POSITIVE object, add a NEGATIVE object (This can be anything you like and hidden in the Cityscape object) Boolean and then select/click the [C] icon.
You can then EXPORT object to a number of formats, OBJ being one them.

What I have is Alien City Blocks 2.  I'm not sure if it's boolen or not.  I just know it will not convert.  And I am new to Bryce.

It isn't boolean
If you have the proper version of Bryce...
First thing I would do is to make the cityscape positive.
Select the object then click the little A and choose positive
Next create a sphere..any primitive really...and hover it over your city scape
Select the sphere, click A and choose negative
Now, select both the sphere AND the cityscape and click G to goup them.
You should have the G change to a U (ungroup) and a letter C (cut) should also appear
Click the C
go to FILE and the Export Object option should now be available!

That's the long version of what Bryster explained up there....

Go to the help bar on te top of the bryce screen and click help topics to go to the online manual. Type the word attributes and click on the word attributes to see this picture of the menu box and explanation of how to set objects positive, negative, etc. Next type the word convert and follow the instructions.

It seems to work except on Bryce objects..

I have a Bryce manual, buried in a storage shed...somewhere..;) I thought there was a pdf in the last (free) Bryce version. Wouldn't cover the 6.1 stuff, but would be instructive (for that matter, check you Bryce directory for any pdf files. Might have been there all the time..;)

I have a Bryce manual, but I can't use it. It's propping up the table my pc sits on.....

Of course there is always "The Preferred Method" of using Bryce.
Poke it with a Stick until something happens!
