No biggie (I dont' wanna argue with them over it), we can think of a different name.ย ๐Ÿ˜‰ย

Another Poser test render...ย  I'm doing theese to see what the models look like after poser smoothing is applied, in case I need to make any geometry revisions. Things aren't UV mapped or split into MAT zones.

Now is the time to start thinking about what morphs to put in - I'm talking about the fun morphs! Various body style fits will go in there, as I mentioned before.
It's the fun morphs - wrinkles, taking the outfit on and off... rolling up the sleeves...ย  so, if you guys have things you would like in there, now's the time to make suggestions!!!!

stormchaser ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2008 at 10:09 PM

Damn that looks good again Connie!
The details on the outfit is extraordinary, the lacey bits really have depth. I love it!
Now, seeing those boots in black, oh yes!

stormchaser ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2008 at 10:11 PM

I'd love to have creases around the joint areas, you know around the knees when she's kneeling &ย her arms whenย posed with the gun.

stormchaser ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2008 at 10:14 PM

I like the rolling up the sleeves idea.

Can the bow on the lace boots be moveable. If she's kneeeling it could move with gravity, for extra realism.

stormchaser ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2008 at 10:16 PM

Sorry to keep posting.
Can there be creases around the groin area, spreading across the top of the thighs.ย This is a tight fitting outfit soย I would imagine they'd be there.

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2008 at 10:33 PM ยท edited Tue, 01 April 2008 at 10:37 PM

Straps sliding down the shoulders?
Holster hanging, or being held in her hand, and laying on a desk or ground (squished)?
Old wear and tear wrinkles on boots?
Definately wrinkles in a number of bending zones!
Hang off the arm and drop on the floor for the vest?
For the boots, if they'll be used to sit next to her, a top bend down on the side (like older boots do when there's no leg in them?)
Straps relax and slide down the boot?
Stuff the pants inside boots
Pants over boots
Straps-be-gone
Piping-be-gone

I'll think of others :)

I'll do what I did withย apolloย wizard robe - since this is going to be a pretty high polycount model. Instead of loading all the morphs at once, they'll be grouped, and injectable.
Wear and tear INJ/REM
Styling INJ/REM
V4 body fits INJ/REM
A4 and other character body fit INJ/REM

For some reason I wanna put cool sunglasses on this outfit...

Crikey Connie, yeah! All those sound brill! I was thinking about the straps coming down the shoulders, that's a good 'un.

I like the idea of the INJ/REM. People can just load what they need.

Letterworks ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2008 at 11:05 PM

Connie, A suggestion. On my last GND4 item I used displacement on an almost smooth mesh to make up the wrinkling (not that much was added) but I'm concidering expanding this method.. It leaves open an option for anyone creating a texture or material shader to add thier own wrinkling, anything from rumpled as if slept in, to freshly press, amking for a mor individual look.ย  You may want to look into that method.

A really cool name I had thought of that probably still couldn't be used was Theron Flux.

Yes, no worries, I'll beย using displacement maps and bump maps, I'm very familiar with the method. Bumps and displacementsย will be madeย later, when I'm texturing.
Right now I'm in the morph creation phase.

Edit: Just to add, once I decide where the wrinkles will be and how I want them to look, I'll decide wheter they'll be morphs or displacements.ย  I may decide to double up on some of them, make them available as morphs and as displacement, to accomodare non-firefly renderers - I gather there's still a lot of those.

With morphs, on can seletively turn wrinkles on and off... for cases when perhaps arms are bent and knees aren't, etc. Using displacement, with a nice resolution map, opne can make some really fine good looking wrinkles, but only very knowledgeable Poser users are going to be able to control where they occur (blending transmaps and what not). I doubt very many people will go that far.

You could always do several disp maps for different zones, one could apply them via partial MAT Poses.
Morphs would be more easy to use in other apps though. I would definitely go for morphs if the mesh is not to stretch :)

About the name: Stormy Chase for GND4? She could definitely ride after a storm dressed like that! And i'm pretty sure she would catch it!! Oo

Quote - You could always do several disp maps for different zones, one could apply them via partial MAT Poses.

My concern about too many displacementย and trans etc... maps, especially for the whole body, which isย goingย to be at 4kx4k pixels is that they are likely to take up a lot more system resources then one or two or four wrinkle morphs. Especially if the morphs are properly 'squished'.

I could make just one bending FBM, and then as any particular body part bends, the wrinkle morph could be called via ERC on just that body part alone. With this, one planned out wrinkle morph can give you a variety of bending caused wrinkles. Without user having to do any more input then bend those specific body parts.ย  Same principle as JCM's, but with the puropse of causing normal bending wrinkles, rather then hiding joint bend pokethroughs.

So we'll see. I'll probably do some of one and some of the other.

Connie - I like your ideas on how to produce the wrinkle morphs. I know this outfit would be great as it is but I'm sure the majority of us wishing to do serious renders with this outfit will appreciate this.
A question though, if the wrinkles/creases are to be diallled up, will it be a case of they're either on/off orย can youย implement how much is shown?

'StormChaser' for GND4. That is just too cool!!ย  :thumbupboth:

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2008 at 3:33 PM

I think I can implement how much is shown - to a degree.ย  I'll be using EasyPose software/utility to assing those ERC's (enhanced remote controls) and I believe it lets you do thins on a curve... as the bend increases so does the value of the morph (or inversly)

I'm actually thinking about making two dials for each... unless it proves to be too confusing.
One that bends and morphs at the same time, the other one that's just plain bends (for those whom may want to fine tune things on their own. We'll see, I may be overthinking that part.

I never realised this amount of detail could be achieved. If theย value can increase with the pose this is great!
I know it's alot of work on your part Connie, I hope it's not too much to try & put this in.

Letterworks ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2008 at 4:31 PM

Connie, whnI suggested displacement, I was thinking more of static wrinkles. I like your idea of dynamic wrinkle morphs. If you decide to go with 2 dials, (not a bad idea) I would suggest making the JCM, ERC dials invisable (I usually do this anyway), that way only the user dials are visable so you'd avoid confusion.
