Subject: Conforming Boots

Sabou ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2008 at 6:01 AM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 11:50 AM

I need some help with my boots. I made one for Aiko. I made the figure and the fit pose for aiko. Loading my boots all seams to be very good. But parenting them to aiko they jump forward and hanging around but not just fitting Aiko.
Can someone help me?

So they look when loading:

and so when set conform to aiko:

If you select the boots.
Go to Figure turn off all IK chains.
Go to Window > Joint Editor > Zero figure

Do they then fit?

If so, follow this by going to Edit > Memorize > Figure and then resave the boots to the library.

Sabou ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2008 at 7:20 AM

The boots have no IKs. Pressing zero figure, nothing happens. They dont fit.

PhilC ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2008 at 7:26 AM

May I ask by what method did you create the joints for the boots?

Sabou ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2008 at 7:31 AM

I modeld the boots, save the obj, write the cr2 and then load into poser. Thats it, nothing done anymore since yet. I take an existing cr2, changed everything for my boots to get them.

PhilC ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2008 at 7:39 AM

If you used the existing Aiko CR2 as a base it will have contained preset bends in the legs. Did you edit out these presets? If they are left in they tend to give the effect you are experiencing when you conform the boots to the figure.

The existing Aiko CR2 will have contained IK chains. Again if you are using that as a base how did you remove the IK chains. It is not sufficient to just remove the IK lines in the "figure" section. Other lines need to be edited in the actor parts also. A more sure fire way is to delete them using the Poser hierarchy window.

If you feel it will help and are able to email me the files I will be very happy to take a look at them. In that way I'll be able to see exactly what you have done and be able to give accurate information.

Thank you very much for this offer.

OK got the file :)

I started by importing the boots OBJ file into the scene. I ensured that none of the import option boxes was selected. I then loaded A3 and put her in the zero pose and this is what I got.

The reason that your boots are not fitting A3 when conformed is because the boots do not fit A3 when both the boots geometry and the A3 figure are all at the zero pose. You'll need to remodel or adjust the boots OBJ file such that it does.

I suspect that you modeled the boots to fit A3 as she loads from the Poser library. This is not the same as the zero pose.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Phil, i will going to try and remoddeling.
Dont know today in which position i exported aiko.
Thank you very much.

Here's a trick which might save you having to remodel: Load Aiko and zero her completely as Phil described. Better still, import her OBJ geometry file (with all options unchecked). Then load the boots but don't conform them. See if you can pose the boots so that they fit the zeroed Aiko. Then export them and use the exported file as your new geometry.

Sabou ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2008 at 2:30 PM

This would be a very nice idea Bob, but it is not possible to fit them to aiko in these position. So i remodeld them. Now i group every thing and map and then it must be okay. I will post a shot when i am ready. Seams to be good so long.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2008 at 7:16 PM

another old trick is to find a pair of boots that conform to aiko, then edit the cr2 file
to the path of yer obj file that ya modelled.  this is o.k. for redistribution if using
a non-daz cr2 file, but not o.k. for redistribution if using a daz cr2 file, due to their
policy of copyrighting their JPs.

Sabou ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2008 at 6:12 AM

I tried the very first but this did not work, no chance.
Redmoddeling worked very well. Later on i will post a shot.
Thank you.

Sabou ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2008 at 9:35 AM

Now it looks something like that. Conforming them works very well. Again thank you very much Phil.

PhilC ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2008 at 9:38 AM

There ya go :)

Sabou ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2008 at 9:40 AM
