Just after some feedback really.  I have nade this dress, it's dynamic with real buttons (which I'm pleased with).  But what would make it better?

rendered in vue6i

Thanks :)

Very nice!  I like it just the way it is.

I think it's perfect the way it is.  Anything more would make it look "cluttered" and often times less is definitely more.

That looks great, Fugazi.. a really nice, sexy dress.
It's difficult to tell from this angle, but the neckline looks a little peculiar to me. I would either lower the front of the neckline slightly, or, probably better for this style, make the sides a bit higher. But it might look different from another angle.
The overlap down the front looks a bit flat in this picture - could you put bump/displacement there to give the effect of a real overlap?
Hope this helps!

I also agree to leave it uncluttered with belt or 'shoulder thingies'!

Maybe the sleeves should be a little bit longer, so that the cuffs reach her wrists.

Maybe the trim that follows the buttons up the front also going around the neck or at least add the material zone so it can be textured in bu us users. You have trim on the front and the cuffs. That is the only thing I would consider. Looks fantastic.

I think it looks great just the way it is! I like the sheer uncluttered look. It gives your outfit a chic look in my opinion. Nicely done!

Superb, except the neck looks a bit... uncomfortable? Maybe it could drop down a little.

Looking closer, it looks like the brown trim does go around the neck. cspear echoed my initial thought on the neckline.

I've never tried dynamic clothing because I always thought it was for loose-fitting clothes. But this is snug and sexy... I love it!

Did fugazi fall off his high-wire? I heard no scream or thump.

Plenty to change here. Where will she put her sword? No cleavage! Not enough leg showing!

Seriously though, it's looks good, nice work.  I like my fantasy stuff but it's good to see clothing like this being made as well.

Fugazi1968 ( ) posted Wed, 11 June 2008 at 11:12 AM

It's ok I havnt fallen off anything, just interupted by sleep and work :)  Thanks everyone for the feedback and kind words.

I will have a look at the neck, though it does look a bit betterfrom above :) honest, the trim goes right around her neck.  I think she needs a badge though now :) maybe something Judge Dreddy to set it off just a lil, I will put some thoughts into that.

Sorry no cleavage :) sometimes sexy is just sexy ;p you dont have to beat someone over the head with it (no snickering in the back).  As for the sword well, a scabbard probably.  And not enough leg? how much leg do ya want to see, any less dress and it would be just rude :p

John,
The only thing I might suggest is at least in this render it looks a bit too "plastic", (could be my monitor) if you added a bump or displacement to simulate a specific fabric or a variety of fabrics.  As far as the model goes.  Perfect.

I like this dress, it looks very early 60's. I don't think the sleeves have to be longer, those dresses had also a "midi" sleeve. I think a kind of tweed pattern would also look nice on it,  and one of those round little hats!

Great work.

Ok after a modification or two here is the next attempt :)  I did a bit on the neck, though not enough it seems, and a lil bump on the material though I'm not sure thats made much difference.

I'm glad you didn't adjust the sleeves or add a "badge" :)

TBH I liked the first one better :)  Maybe because the dress popped with the black material and bronze buttons and trim.  I didn't think the first one looked like plastic at all. In fact I immediately took it to be a smooth leather material.

If you are insistent on fixing the neckline, then I would add to it instead of taking away.  Turn it into a bit of a turtle-neck but only go about  1/4 to 1/2  way up the neck instead of to the chin like most turtle-necks do. And take the closure to the top of the neckline like you have now.

I agree 100% with Acadia's comments - I particularly liked the sheeny leather look of the original. A slightly higher, tighter neckline would go well with the snug fit of the rest of the dress.
