Subject: 3D Bridge for Photshop

Anyone checked this out over at Daz? It's a plugin for Studio so you can take models into Photoshop, from version 7 up. Little spendy but on sale and wondering if anyone else has checked it out and what you think of it if you have.

yeah it's got some nice content with it too at least the starter bridge that's still free does now they just have to make one for psp 7 and later so the rest of us that use psp have such a sweet deal lol

Hello
I just download  the demo from Daz  and install it
But i don't see where is the 3dbridge in Photoshop cs3 menus or somewhere else ? In fact where is the bridge in the two soft?
the only place i see is in the list of plugin in Daz Studio
I miss something
But i remember during the installation of the demo some files have gone to my Photoshop folder

In PS CS2 its under File/Automate. That starts up Studio from within PS.

In Daz Studio there is a 3D ridge selection under Edit > Customize. I hit this and then went into CS3 and found it under File > Automate. Hit that and it opened a dialog box with questions. Once I answered those it loaded the entire scene into CS3. I'm still mucking about with it but will let you know what I find out. I'm mainly interested in the fact that it goes back to Photoshop Ver. 7 as well as the updated versions.

Finally after reinstallation of the plugin i see it in Daz Studio
And after manual relocation of the plugin in CS3 folder (because french version maybe)
I can render a scene  from DAzStudio diectly on a new layer in Photoshop CS3

I need more test for it but for now if you don't have CS3 extended you only have access to limited features of the plugin .Is it worth for $$$ for now i am hesitate

TheHalfdragon ( ) posted Sat, 17 May 2008 at 3:09 PM

well if i had the ps cs3 aswell as the bridge starter bundle i would play around with it for a while and see what i could do with it as is.  then since ps is a graphics editing program see how it works with your textures if you are going to make some of your own and then decide for yourself if getting the payed version would 1) save you time in renders, 2) add enough features for your typ of needs, 3) make your life easier while rendering and texturing,  then make your choice from there

sorry i can't be of more help but i figure if you want to form an opinion on something see what it can do and if it works for you cause not everyone is going to like it due to it may not work the way they want it to

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 17 May 2008 at 8:04 PM

The reason I think I'm going to get it is that it works with PS 7, CS2 and CS3. It exports to CS3. I have been futzing around with it and just for the lighting alone I think it's worth it. I have CS3 extended but it only allows you to import the model and move it around, you can't work with lights and you can't re-pose the model if you don't like the way it looks.

Verdict ?
I'll  probably not buy
It was good for making multiple renders on different layers and each one  with  good -clean contours
But Daz Studio will  not product the best rendering output  .I can make better with others softs

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2008 at 9:46 AM

Right, I would not have gotten it either for $199 but for $49 I'm willing to give it a shot. May end up taking it back if I don't see the results I've been trying to hammer out.

This is definitely Off Topic, but since you mentioned that you render in programs other than Daz, could you tell me what you use....where do you take what type of files out of Daz???  This has been a quandary for me.
Thanks,
Eb
