DAZ|Studio F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 12:43 am)
im not sure what it is your looking for ?
vendors at DAZ store or people who make stuff for DAZ figures like M3 V4 etc etc..
Or Vendors that do ONLY DS stuff..
Your question is realy unclear to me

You'd best look over at DAZ, then, since most of us do Poser only or Poser/DAZ content. I only do Poser content because I have yet to figure out how to get the same results in Studio that I get in Poser using the Shader Tree. Once I get that down then, maybe, I'll start creating content for both.

Virtually all of my character packages are for DAZ characters so I, too, am a little unclear as to what you want.
If you look through the Marketplace in the Poser/DAZ Studio category you'll find a lot of vendors who do textures for DAZ objects (characters, clothing, props, etc.) so making you a list would be a daunting task, to say the least since there are over 1500 active vendors here.
A lot of us do both character sets and Merchant Resource sets for DAZ characters since they are, by far, more popular than the native Poser characters.

Quote - I need names. And thank you for letting me know you sell stuff. One down...Next?
Usually when Poser vendors create Daz stuff they say it's tested and when we use it, then it's not working in Daz or if bought, it says not tested in Daz. So now I need names for Daz vendors.
Hugs
So, you're talking about DAZ Studio only, as opposed to DAZ characters?
I know a lot of vendors here do test in DAZ Studio and they say so. I do not test in Studio and it says so in my online readme files. If you're looking for something that has been tested and works in DAZ Studio, check the readme files.

So you like to have a list with vendors that have DS support in the Shop..
Thats a short list i think .. but it might be getting bigger SOON
And for one item they might have DS sup and a other one they dont ..
AFAIK most things work fine in DS ..its some special shaders etc etc that are non compatible..
I test all my things in DS and maybe i start support for DS soon too ....

Here is what i think she is looking for.
A listing of Vendors who create items that can be used in Daz|Studio's and who can offer support should it be needed.
The name of the Vendor and a link to their store would be appreicated.
You must be with the Daz Artists Guild
I just received this email
If your a Daz vendor and Daz artist, even if you use Poser too, but make stuff for Daz artists, then please add your name here with gallery, for us to see and use. We would love to see your stuff and get feedback or give feedback from you to our Dazzers. Hugs ;)
The Hugs ;) kinda stood out.
and yes to your question and already a member.

I think you will very much see more products that are fully daz compatible in the future and very soon more daz studio exclusive products.
Now that so many products in the daz store are studio compatible the daz user part of the market (up to 32% per a poll I saw this week) is going to start expecting it standard in the products they purchase and more vendors will have to start checking to see that products work in both programs if they want that to appeal to that part of the market.
Also, clothing dynamics should go live sooner than later and products that are intended for that plugin. The part of the plug in that simply uses the clothes will be free while the parts to create products and change settings will pay for from what I read. All of those products will be Daz only in all likely hood based on the fact that merchants preset the fabric information for easier use by the end user. Once people are use to a larger variety of daz only products you can expect the sale for them to expand as the number of daz users continues to grow.

While I would love to make all of my products DAZ Studio compatible I still have a big problem with the shaders in Studio. They don't do what I need them to do as far as effects. I've been playing in Studio since it first came out and have yet to figure out how to get some glossiness on lips and eyes since Studio doesn't use an anisotropic node for adding shine without looking plastic.
Also, until they make the default shader as Skin and not Plastic, a lot of people that I know create content for Poser won't be going into Studio. It takes a long time for us to set up the Poser shader nodes and then to have to spend that much time, and possibly more, to get the look just right in Studio would be prohibitive if we want to create packages in a timely manner.
If anyone knows of a good tutorial about creating shader settings in Studio that are similar to the ones I use in Poser, please point me to it. I'd be very interested in them since the tutorials over at DAZ and here don't address this issue and I'm loathe to have to buy another product to make my stuff Studio compatible.

There are a couple of free shaders for D|S, but only on one who does anisotropic highlights. If you can, look over at DAZ in the DAZ|Studio Freepozitory for Pendragons Shaders.
You may as well give an item to test to one of the D|S-cracks, might be easier sometimes then to learn a new way of working.
The following statement is completely personal and biased!
You can change material settings faster and easier in D|S than with the shader nodes in Poser.
Anyway, if you (all) need help or some ideas, here is the place to ask! ^_^

My entire point is that, in Poser, I use my own shader node settings not shaders produced by someone else. I do this because it took me about 5 months to get them right and are only mine.
I make content to sell and I couldn't do that if I used someone's shaders for Studio. Until I learn how to do it myself I won't say that my products are Studio compatible. It wouldn't be fair to the purchaser or to the person whose shaders I "borrowed".

I see your point here, but alas, I do not know any tuto on How to make your own shader. I think I will have a look at the 3Delight homepage, maybe there are more infos about it. I guess you have to learn to programm the shaders with the SDK.
But there are lately a couple of D|S only products which use the material or light shaders of a third person, Stonemason uses pwSurfaces on his products, Antfarm (i think it's him) uses the Pointlight shader for the Denizen ...
To me its alright, it's the final quality that counts!

And thats fair, but what if you new everything else worked in Daz except the shaders and you put a statment that said *compitable with Daz Studio with limitiations * I've seen that other places and when I read the Read me file it states what won't work. that way the expatation is set up right way. Then I the buyer can decide if the product is what I want and if I can get the effect I would like to see.
Just a thought.
"Also, until they make the default shader as Skin and not Plastic, a lot of people that I know create content for Poser won't be going into Studio"
If you will look down at the bottom in surfaces there is a skin lighting model that many people are successful with as far as skin textures. Also, Daz has a free set of shader presets that includes being able to make the gloss very sharp that is rather compatible to the high gloss you get with anamorphic glass settings in poser. It includes an sss shader for skin that can be adjusted as well. It is in the old daz freebies as it has been out as long as studio has. There is also an SDK that can be downloaded that has the same scripts. Many people already have the sdk in order to use the free shader systems that add tiling and some of the camera and light scripts.
We have a tutorial on our web site that tells you which settings will need to be modified to make poser products daz compatable.www.calida3d.com. There is also a tutorial on working with and creating your own shader presets.
By the way I think most people are using the term shader to refer to the process not the use of someone else's shader presets.

The free SDK is for scripts and shaders, though most of the documentation is for scripts. The paid for SDK is for plugins. Although some functions are more-or-less common to both they do different jobs, and the paid for version doesn't replace the free. Unless you know how to code in C++ I'd suggest getting a refund on the full SDK and starting to learn with the free scripting SDK.
The things that hold my stuff from going on market
is hinging. Like let say the canopy of an airplane to have a dial move the canopy
up or down to certain limits. Or a door on a building.
I have a nice sailplane I designed I used it in this picture
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1418362
I could make the pose set to put V4 or M3 in the cockpit but not figure
how to make the canopy work right.
So I gave up I know I still have it somewhere and a few others.
I mostly designed them for FMS simulator all the planes are here
http://lighthorse.ws
on the downloads page. My brother set it up there.

Does anyone have a list or know about who the vendors are for Daz stuff.
Only those that created Daz stuff?
Please share their names if possible.
Thanx & Hugs :-)
