THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: problem with bryce on external harddisk

Hello, I have a problem.
My labtop harddisk is full, so I buyed an external drive for running bryce and dazstudio, by far the biggest programs on my disk. I backed up al my presets and uninstals bryce and dazstudio.
I instals both on the external disk, and D|S runs oke.
But bryce gives problems. I have 5.5 and 6-upgrade. I instals 5 and directly after that 6. The instalers are exactly the same as the one I used to instal the perfect working bryce on my labtopdisk, so no corupt downloads. Is this a common problem with installing bryce on a external hhd?

I get a message that the enterypoint of an .dll can not be fount. but the .dll are all in the same map as bryce. Can somebody helps?

I would question the wisdom of installing Bryce on an external drive. I think Bryce MUST be installed on C: ??      using the external as storage for some of  the stuff on your full hardrive.

Do you have an os installed on the external drive?  I think it may need to access your registry the same as other programs.

My Bryce is installed on a second drive... drive F to be exact, and it functions ok.

Maybe your old installation that used to be on the C: drive removed a dll that was part of it but left the registry entry untouched and still have it 'point' to the C: location.

Maybe something else/similar with mismatched location.

Do you know which dll it is?

Have you searched the registry for 'Bryce' or that dll to see where the registry thinks it should be located? and is it actually at that location?

I have the problem sloved for the important part! I don't know what the problem was, but I had problems with the amberkrn.dll file with bryce 5.5 and the dzcore.dll file with bryce 6. These .dll are in the bryce folder.
I uninstaled bryce 5.5, 6 and dazstudio. Then I install everything again with everything enabled (so install d|s 1.5 and 1.7) and bryce 6 works!
Bryce 5 did work until I instals bryce 6. Now it gives the amberkrn.dll enterypoint message again. Tomorrow I try to instal 5.5 again.
I want to ask you if it is possible to have bryce 5.5 and 6 on the same pc?

I think there are a few people who have more than one Bryce installation.

Yes, it's possible to have both version on the same hard drive, just not in the same folder tho. I have 5.5 and 6.1 on my hard drive. I installed 5.5, well, that was the first one. Then I upgraded to 6.1 but the upgrade is to another folder. They play together nicely. Maybe you could install 5.5 , wait a day or so, then try installing 6.1 afterward??? :tongue1: Just kidding . Make sure you didn't install to the same directory/folder.

Mmmm, not in the same folder? Then I think found my problem. This evening, when I'm at home, I try install bryce 5.5 in a different folder. Tnx!

Yup, have as much Bryce as you want installed on your computer, just as stated, make different directory folders for each of them. I have Bryce versions 4, 5.0, 5.5, and 6.1 installed on my PC.
