hey mycat!
I've been around, just very quiet =D took longer than i had hoped to recover from surgery this past february.
by the time my body finally settled down, my parents & daughter came up for a visit.
im still recovering from THAT (and its been a month LOL)
no worries though... once snow flies again (mid to late september) you'll be seeing a lot more of me - to the point you'll probably be begging me to hush already ;)
im also in the process of convincing people to try the PLE - and then getting them hooked... MUAHAHAHAHAHA.
even my daughter had the basics figured out in 2 shakes of a lambs tail. at some point, i shall have to get vue for her. she keeps getting overwhelmed looking at the poser 6 i got her LOL.
"MOMMY! SHES A PRETZEL!"
good, honey... now - remember those dials? twirl 'em =D
but its difficult teaching long distance like i have to with her (until someone decides to give my dad a job up here)
chuckles
good news is, even with all the chaos in my life (i really have GOT to get a better nickname for myself - the chaotic kitty just adds more chaos LOL), i managed to land a job illustrating a children's book with a local published author - so, i foresee a few months of being "quiet" again - once they get what they're wanting to me LOL.
uggg - i need to tidy things and then find my camera LOL. ebil hubby hid it. i know where the tripod is - not that THAT helps.
how is it in such a small space, i can still lose things?

I have a low untidyness threshold, easily solved by frequent visits to the charity shop and eBay.

Well as the addage goes...."If a cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind, what's an empty desk the sign of?" :)
It has taken me most of my life to graduate from male slobhood and in fact, it was our craft that helped me. Once I realized how very important it is to keep one's files organized and started doing it, it sort of oozed out of my machine and into my surroundings. It's not perfect, of course, but a far cry from the maelstrom it used to be.

Yea, course I know David Bellamy (not personally of course!). Socks are bad enough, it's when the manpants start bweeding under the bed that makes me barf

my "old" desk is only a little over a year old, but its really too large for this infinitely tiny place. once we can build, this one will come out of storage.
my "new" desk is 2' deep by 3' wide, came from the transfer site (reuse section), and hubby is trying to build shelves for me. good thing is, new desk is short enough for me, too =-D
now, if it would just stop raining so we can get this done....

This is a music studio, too, but I did away with all external gear other than an interface box and percussion and key controllers (Thank gawd for loops and VST instruments). I don't miss the days of miking drum kits, calibrating tape machines and hand-splicing 1/4" tape.
As a drummer, I tend to program most of my rhythm guitars, but should I get stuck, I'm fortunate to have some good guitarist friends who are willing to e-mail me real tracks. I love the net for working collaboratively!

PS - I'm not bragging about the nice place I have, but I'm not apologizing for it either, done my share of living in slams and also done my share of only being able to paint on the dinning table when we dont need it for dining with guest, when the kids dont need it to do their projects, my husband doesnt need it to prepare his lectures...

The view from your window is really lovely! Must be good for the inspiration
Having a place where you can just go and work whenever the mood takes you is a blessing. I love it for my computer work but I have your old problem when I want to sew - I have to use the dining table as there's no space up here for all my sewing paraphenalia. Trouble is, the dining table is in our conservatory. Sometimes very pleasant, but cold in winter and often like an oven in summer

WOW !! That is one big piece of a monitor :-)
I wonder, is your mouse pointer not often lost somewhere in that amount of space ?
I have a wacom tablet now, but before that, i used a regular mouse and with my dual 20" widescreen monitor setup, i often had to search for the mouse pointer in all that space LOL !

Hey Gill, you'd like my chair. It used to have the same material you see on the back (burlap type stuff). And the seat pad wore out. I re-upolstered the seat and arms with ultra-leather. The seat is tripple padded (never sink down to the wood at 190lbs) and the arms are double padded). It's pretty comfy!

You've got a really good dedicated space there !! You even look like a reposed Bruce Willis in the photo
Not sure about the chair - sounding very unladylike leather often makes my bum sweat ! :blushing:
Plus I'm more of a floral person as the photos may show - I've yet to see white leather with floral motifs printed on but I'd consider buying some if I saw it - as long as I didn't use it to cover a seat !
Gill
The shelves on the desk fell into my hands at just the right moment, same with the ones between the couch & tv.
THIS is my office/living room. My throne of power (and i fight for my chair). yes, that is the fridge to one side of my desk, marking the edge of the kitchen. The fridge is almost directly opposite the front (only) door.
The images pointing towards the TV were taken in the MIDDLE of my "kitchen", with only slight cropping to remove the trash can from the photo.
I DID blur/block identifying features in photos of my daughter, as well as blurred any writing that was personal or could have a copyright issue (looks under desk at the row of cleaning products & canned air) tried to anyway ;)
Gill - i think you would suffer greatly in my house. If i covered everything that visually disruptive, it would feel extremely closed in. This is, strangely enough, the most open this trailer has felt since the day we moved in.
as you can see... every inch of space has to count. Its also a work in progress =D
After i post this message, will post the second pic depicting the "entire living room/entertainment room/office"
if you're claustrophobic....
i wouldnt recommend visiting =D

*grins...
i finally measured the length of this thing... 32' (inside - give or take a few inches)... and 7 & a half foot wide (inside). again, give or take a few inches either way for the "STRAIGHT" walls that the landlord remodelled long ago... chuckles
the smallest place i ever lived in was, if i recall correctly, approx. 18' long & 8' wide. did that for 3 months, but the good thing was, it was in my parents back yard, so could go inside the "big house" during the day - where there was a kitchen, a tv, computers, and most importantly, a working bathroom.
oh wait. wrong. it was a very large 8-person tent for a summer when i moved back up here to alaska. big enough for a futon mattress on the ground and our suitcases.
grins travel trailers are fun. as long as you're not living in one permanently and have attempted to shove 50 pounds of (CENSORED) into a 2 and a half pound bag.
thank goodness my main creative outlet is now poser & vue. i clutter my hard drive, NOT my living space =D (dont get me wrong... i have several large boxes in here full of craft paints & glues & other crafty things that cant freeze - the rest of my crafty things are in a storage unit until such time as my living space grows. it will happen. eventually.)
Meanwhile, i keep finding creative means of storage & downsizing - and i have also learned what a person can actually live without LOL.
and what they can't.
Anyone want some snow? I got a yard outside with snow almost 2 feet deep. come & get it & its yours!
