Hi everyone. I realize that it is probably a newbie question, but please, help me out... I have recently purchased Liquid Rust's "Robin" character. Quite a pleasing character, but I don't know how to properly add any clothing to it so that it would match. To illustrate my point: The first image shows the standard Victoria V4.2 with basic clothing added and conformed to it. The bra and the panties fit well. And then... The second image shows the same Victoria with the Robin morphs. Question: how do I make the clothes to fit properly? Please, any help is appreciated... Please, someone help me out with this... Sincerely: Szabolcs85

Use the morphs in the clothing- breast size, hip size, etc..  (the dials).  Sometimes the clothing morphs that come with the clothing are enough, sometimes not.  I personally purchased PhilC's Wardrobe Wizzard 2:

www.philc.net/WardrobeWizard.htm

This allows you to add any morph from your human figure to the clothing, in order to get a perfect fit (you will still have to use the morph dials, but sometimes more morphs will allow a better fit).  With Wardrobe Wizard you can also convert clothing from one figure to another.  There are also a few here on renderosity that I have not used, but work just as well I am sure (and at a lower price than Wardrobe Wizard):

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=64629&

You can also use magnets in Poser, but as a newbie that may not be the way you want to go.
(Poser menu -  Object*Create Magnet).

Your clothing does not look too far off, and you can most likely make it fit with the morphs supplied in the clothing (dials).  Start with Breast size, and hip size/width, and play around with the dials a bit to see what they do.

--a couple of things you can try:  Increase the size of the bra maybe 10 percent.
reduce the breast size maybe 10 percent
reduce the size of the bikini bottom or increase the model's hip
                                                          width.

When you don't have the standard (default) size, you can try the above to get it to fit--if the proportions aren't too far off, it will work.  Jan

did you conform the clothing AFTER adding the character morphs ?  Poser should apply the same morphs in the conforming clothing as are applied in the figure , assuming that the morphs exist.  If the character uses morphs NOT in the clothing or custom morphs then you need to try using scale , and the other morphs to get a better fit .

An option is to use the cloth room to "shrink fit" the bikini .

szabolcs85 ( ) posted Wed, 06 August 2008 at 10:13 AM

No, I conformed them before I added the character morphs. But, as you can see, the clothes did not follow the morphs. This is getting more and more complicated.

Acadia ( ) posted Wed, 06 August 2008 at 11:23 AM

There are 3 types of clothing:

Dynamic:  This is clothing that you use inside the Cloth room. It takes longer to work with and there is a bit of a learning curve, but it's not too bad, but the results are more appealing in that the clothing actually looks more natural instead of "posed and stiff".  I have included information about this type of clothing further down.

Confroming- Non Morphing:  This is clothing that you conform to a figure. The clothing is made to fit the base figure.  If you change the shape of the figure you will also have to refit the clothing, which isn't always easy if there aren't any corresponding body morphs in the clothing.  Plus posing a character in positions where they are not nearly upright is difficult.  But many prefer this type of clothing over dynamic.

Conforming-Morphing: This is the same as conforming-non morphing, only there are morph dials that you can turn that have corresponding body morphs for easier fitting.  This is the preferred type of conforming clothing because it's easier to fit. To fit this type of clothing, select the body part of the outfit IE: hip, thigh, chest, arm, collar etc, and look in the parameter dials for morph dials that you can change to help fit the clothing.  Unfortunately sometimes even with morph dials, if you have morphed the figure a great deal, it's still not very easy to fit the clothing.

Using a clothing item on a figure that it is meant to be used on, after you have added morphs and adjusted the shape of the body,  can be problematic because the clothes are made for the default figure shape and not the new morphed up shape. So the clothing no longer fits and you get parts of the body showing through the clothing after you add morphs and change the shape of the body.

There are programs that can help fit clothing from one figure to another, or even from the same figure to one that has been "morphed up" using their morph packages.

The Tailor, which can be bought here:
http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=3679&_m=d

Wardrobe Wizard (I use this one and it's great). It can be purchased from PhilC's site here:
http://www.philc.net/WardrobeWizard.htm

Clothes Converter, which can be bought here:
http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=3069&cat=131

There is also another one, I think by EvilInnocence, called "Cross Dresser".

Dynamic Clothing (more information):

A nice thing about dynamic clothing is that you can easily use clothing on various figures. Here are some tutorials on how to use dynamic clothing in the cloth room:

http://www.philc.net/CC_sampleVideo.htm

Here are some links to some great FREE dynamic clothing:

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/index.php?username=carib98

It's also possible to make conforming clothing into dynamic clothing:

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/tutorial/index.php?tutorial_id=868

And it's possible to take a conforming outfit and work with it in the cloth room so that parts of it act dynamic.

I would try re-conforming the clothing to make sure tht any morphs have been applied . Poser sometimes isnt good at doing that .

I tried reconforming, but it did not work... Maybe I'll try something with the cloth room. Anyway, here is a pic of a current project. Liquid Rust's "Robin" and "Novariens Holy". Everything works with characters that are only made of dials and stuff, but when it comes to custom morphs, like what LR females have... This is where the problems come in. (sigh) Women are already complicated as they are, even if they are just polygons. Or maybe I just angered God with making a nun-like figure and he tweaks up my Poser files as a punishment. I don't know.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Wed, 06 August 2008 at 3:02 PM

don't the "magnetise" poses work anymore?  e.g. !Magnetize to V4.pz2

szabolcs85 ( ) posted Wed, 06 August 2008 at 3:04 PM

Nope. I've tried that one, but they don't.

3-DArena ( ) posted Wed, 06 August 2008 at 3:08 PM

I use the magnetize poses - that said however the Basic Wear has a few bugs in it since it's update.

If I make hips larger the bottoms often do not fit - sometimes they will if I conform them again, often they won't and I have to go in and tweak the morphs.

You can not tweak the morphs on the outfit from the main body section however, you will need to go into the body parts and adjust them from there.

Also Robin has custom morphs so the clothing will not morph with her because her morphs are not supported in it - you'll have to tweak.  That's a primary reason I avoid custom body morphs.

I believe a combination of it is going to be knowing what morphs were dialed up to create the character morph (if they combined them into a new channel instead of just injecting to current figure channels), and if the clothing has the appropriate morphs available also, dialing them to match. Not everything is going to conform to a morphed figure out of the box...and it's been my experience that not every conform-morph type works 100% the way needed on a morphed figure.

Most purchased clothing will have at least a few base figure morphs available...but they may not have every single morph package out there. So you may have to make adjustments to the figure or further morph the clothing to fit your needs. That's where magnets or one of the clothing converter programs can come in handy.

I guess I'll have to contact Liquid Rust him/herself... Can anyone tell me how to do so? I can't seem to find his contact info anywhere on the DAZ site... Anyway, I thank anyone so far for any advice given...

A custom morphed character can NOT have the DAZ morphs dialed in and then exported out as a custom morph and imported into a new channel.

The only way a custom character's morphs are supported is if the clothing says so.  In this case Liquid Rust's character's are always 100% custom so items with DAZ morphs will not automatically conform because his morphs aren't in them and DAZ morphs are not in his characters.

Clothing fits with a bit of tweaking, and of course many of his newer characters have a clothing item as a separate product.

If they're created in another app outside of just a bunch of poser dial settings...then yeah, a bit more work is required to get clothing to fit correctly.

However...I've spawned morph targets off of my dial spins using just Daz morphs and set it up in it's own channel numerous times....I didn't create the morph in an outside app, but it would still rank as a creation I customized to fit my own needs (hence custom character) Can make it a pain if I forget what I used exactly when I go to match up clothing...but I generally end up having to custom morph clothes in the first place because they either don't include morphs period, or the supplied morphs don't fit exactly as I'd like.

Another possibility, although not the easiest in the world, would be to use the morphing tool in Poser and modify the mesh to fit the morphed character.

If you've spawned morphs it's not a custom character but a dialed character - combined or not and you wouldn't  be able to distribute much less sell it as a commercial product - which is what the character in question is.

Some people have said that the magnetize poses don't work for them. To be doubly sure that the morphs aren't available, you might try Dimension3D's add Deformers script in Freestuff.

If you're on a Mac, disregard the rest of this...
If that doesn't work, my recommendation would be to invest in Morphing Clothes, again by Dimension3D (I'm not on his payroll, really). It may seem to be a pricey investment, but in the long run it's definitely worth it. You'll be able to fit most of your clothes to whichever character morphs you acquire. Here's a thread about the program: Morphing Clothes by Dimension3D - Users review it for me

Ooh, I'd suggest EvilInnocence's Cross Dresser with the v4.2 morph pack. It's fantastic for fine tuning clothing

I find it great <3

Makibird ( ) posted Thu, 07 August 2008 at 5:32 AM

It's not as difficult as it looks. Load an item of clothing, select who the original clothing is meant to fit, e.g. V3 for the V3MFD. Then select the character you wish to fit it to (you must have a licence to do this) and click convert clothing. The other options there are for tweaking. If you need any help your best bet is to contact the evil innocence people, they're really helpful and quick to respond to questions.

Suucat ( ) posted Thu, 07 August 2008 at 10:27 PM

nah, since i couldn't make it work i deleted the whole thing. i'm really bad at following tutorials and stuff =/
