Mrs. Lubner suggested I should post this one, my three dogs .. when they were three. Now they are just two. You guys have posted some really neat stuff, loved the 3 running in the rain showers, brought back childhood memories, and the elephant butts made me laugh out loud! All the photos are really great! Gun, great horse shots...3 horses - reminds me of "trifecta!" Yahoo......!  The covers over the eyes used to make me feel sorry for them but after I learned the purpose, I felt sorrier for the ones I saw in the pasture that had no protection.

Rita! Hello and so glad you came to the party. LOL

Oh, Gun .. so that's why they were those 'blankets'? to keep the flys off ???   I'm so dense; I thought it was to keep them WARM, but then I saw them here with them on and it was 90 degrees out! LOL  I learn something every day .................................. :-|

odie ( ) posted Mon, 18 August 2008 at 11:31 AM

Hey I had horses and I remember thinking the same thing!!

The blankets protect their coats and really come in handy if they've been trimmed for show in both winter and summer.  The face masks are mesh and they can see through them fine.  It is much healthier than spraying them with that smelly bug spray!

I kid-proofed my house but they STILL get in!!

gunsan ( ) posted Mon, 18 August 2008 at 11:35 AM · edited Mon, 18 August 2008 at 11:38 AM

It looks worse than it is. In the front it is a thin net that makes them able to see clearly.
I admit that it looks odd. Sometimes you can se horses with a band with a lot of strings, so when they shake their heads the flys disappear. Looks more agreable I think.

Flannelman ( ) posted Mon, 18 August 2008 at 12:03 PM

In these days of all Olpymics all the time on TV, it's wonderful to find such a perfect example of the spirt of teamwork right here in my own little town. No TV crews. No big magazine reports. No network coverage around the clock, yet these three little duckies know as much about teamwork as anyone. It's nearly enough to bring a tear to your ...          Wait a second. Isn't that the school house? And isn't that the window to the girls locker room? What are those little duckies doing up there? What kind of teamwork is this anyway???

Welcome to the challenge BobKemper and Ralph! Both an animal theme but someones duckies are very naughty and not as well behaved as the dinos, LOL

...and DO remember, you can still load up to three pictures per member!

micturn: Yes you can! The only rules: 3 per member and the size limit, and then PREFERRABLY a pic you captured for this challenge, meaning it should be something "fresh" and not 10 years old. Bring it on micturn, we can't wait to see what's up your sleeve...

I did this today for this thread but had to put in my gallery also.  This is a smaller file size.

Three diamonds..lit with UV light.  One is fluorescent blue and one is not and the right one is possibly slightly fluorescent yellow.   Color is almost exact to my eye view on this pc monitor. Good fortune put these in my hands today and the pic was made for this fantastic thread.

This must be a record for a forum challenge!!! Yeah!

MrsLubner ( ) posted Tue, 19 August 2008 at 6:54 PM

Art, those are super! The color is out of this world! And Tom, I saw your post in the gallery and almost commented that they needed to be posted in the Challenge - glad I checked here first.

~ THREE CORNS IN A FOUNTAIN!!! ~

I've gotta apologize in advance for this groaner.  My only explanation is that the song is stuck in my head!  (For those of you who wonder if I've lost it... the answer is YES and the song is "Three coins in a fountain".)

We just got through with delivery of a new refrigerator..nothing is cold yet and all is in coolers on the floor.   No fresh corn...oh my the grilled corn makes me very hungry and I will try with moisture and seasalt...also, fried is good, like in deep fried whole ears after deep frying a big turkey or such.  When done, the ears float to the top.

Right now, I can't get to the food..this is not funny. Maybe something is around here to eat!

odie ( ) posted Wed, 20 August 2008 at 7:22 PM

I've got enough corn for everyone!  (Roastinears!)  Grilled with sea salt... wow that makes me hungry again!  Yes, Magali bring those THREE beautiful yellow tomatoes to add to the feast.  I've never tried deep fried but that sounds marvelous, Tom.

About 10 or so more days left of this month, Shari & Piet.  Don't you wonder what else we can get into during that time?  he he he....

I kid-proofed my house but they STILL get in!!

TomDart ( ) posted Wed, 20 August 2008 at 7:34 PM

Odie, I have two entries left but considering how long it took me to get the first one..well, we will see. I will give it a try.

I really like well buttered corn on the cob and then get well buttered on the face eating the wonderful stuff. But, fried corn is a really good for a change. We discovered deep frying it one time out at my mother-in-law's farm while her son was deep frying a turkey in peanut oil. When the turkey was done, I decided to throw in a fresh cob of  sweet yellow corn.  In a short while it rose to the surface, fried just right.  Normally, fried corn is taken from the cob first but this was fried on the cob and delish!

Oh my, tonight  my wonderful wife will bring me home a foot long hotdog for supper...a Wednesday tradition.  That will do.    Tom.
