Not so sure this is a contradiction but at least a contrast between this beautiful Natura 2000 site (camp Lagland, a military domain near Arlon in South Belgium; follow the link for my upload today) and the sign prohibiting the passage of the tanks...

Not the mentioned flower in a garbage dump but close. Let's just say this is a garbage pile in someone's flower garden. Seems someone I know has a daughter with that Hoarding Compulsion and every year the family has to dig her out of her "hoard" resulting in a pile that accumulates in the back corner of the yard. And each year a massive load is hauled to the dump making room for the daughter's next year's "hoard" to begin. Please feel bad for this person who tries hard to maintain a stellar garden in spite of it all.  I know I do. 😊

So how is this for a contradiction shot?

Wow ... I feel for them.  My husbands hobby is tractors... and old cars.  He stores them in an orderly fashion in HIS 10 acres next to the homes 10 acres.. (we have a total of 20 here)... so i dont see it, unless I walk down there.  What a site.  I dont like it at all but I can't take away his passion.. right? :)  Anyway.. great submission for this challenge :)

Seems to be going OK so far Shari.  I'm glad our grave yards don't need razor wire around them Piet, good shot a sign of the times I guess.

Ya know, too bad you used that photo of you as an avatar because it is a contradiction in its own right... such a serious and firm look - half man, half frightful machine, when, in fact, you are a real sweetie through and through. :-)  Can't hold my seat waiting for your entry.

David, I have an affection for both flowers and gutters... perhaps that came out wrong but you get the point... Great way to show functional and whimsical all in one.

I suppose this could be deemed political but i do believe there is a contradiction here .So many good houses going to waste waiting to be flattened ,while there are homeless .Of course the second contradiction is summer is supposed to be sunny and all we`ve had is rain :o)..This is the view from my front door by the way.

I don't get it! Contradiction in old tractors in a beautiful rural garden... Do I miss something?

Oh and btw, I can vouch for Ronnie, he does look like that and like most men, we don't have any soft spots. Hehe, ok i am stirring. Peace!

My boss and I drove past another cemetery (while it seems to be my source of inspiration) and came upon this gem... or not.

Piet Vermeulen, South Africa

MrsLubner ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2008 at 2:06 PM

OH MY GOSH! Flannelman, you really did it!  So still out in the middle of nowhere and still nothing for this fireplug to do but stand and wait for...something... I wonder if it will need a new coat of paint and fresh plumbing by the time they make it useful!

Mick, I don't get it either. We got the same stuff here. Just doesn't make sense. Government builds apartments  that they don't maintain for huge amounts of our hard earned tax money and then 10 years later they condemn it all. Gosh, those buildings stand vacant for 10 more years costing the community more money to patrol them - we won't even mention of the number of people camping in them or the many arson fires started that threaten the rest of the neighborhood...Until, finally! They decide to knock it all down, but in this economy not many are willing to rebuild without government funding so we then go back to the original landscape ... a huge vacant lot, overgrown with weeds, trash and varmits where people who once lived in those governement-built apartments now throw their bed rolls. We now have come full-circle except me, the taxpayer is poorer for paying stupidly used taxes and is about to lose our own home and have to go looking for some government-subsidized housing! (I'll shut up now...)

Piet, yours is much easier to understand.  It makes perfect sense, right? Mike and Lena wanted the tallest headstone in the cemetery but they were short of cash so instead of a giant oblisk they had the boys throw up a towering windmill. Just as good as an oblisk and its cheaper - AND it commands just as much attention ... am I right? 👍

@ Ronnie - I think you should leave your Meanie-Borg avatar up for a while, just long enough for people to get used to it and buy into the idea that you're a bad-a$$.  Then switch it to the collander-on-your-head shot.  Nobody will know what to think!  Oh ... unless they've ever spent ... like ... about 30 seconds with you!

:)

I love your door.  I'll come over and let you know who's there.  The peephole is just about the right height for me!  Of course I won't know anybody you know.  "Well, it's a guy.  Ummm ... brown hair, glasses, wearing a green shirt.  Should I let him in?"  Or you could just stand on your tip-toes and look out the window!
