Very cool stuff indeed. I'll be watching this with great interest!

Thanks Larry!
Quote - Just wanted to let you know about a new plugin that allows Poser/Daz assets to be imported/exported to/from Lightwave. This includes objects, textures, skeletons, weight maps, morphs, poses, motions and mdd files. The plugin should be available within a week or so.

Very cool video. I'm certainly keeping my credit card in my hand for when this plugin is released.
I have a few questions though:
I assume that the characters with conforming clothing would be imported simply as geometry and then deformed with the single skeleton that the plugin loads in Layout? Presumably, geometry covered by clothing would then be deleted to eliminate the problem of skin poking through clothing?
How well does weight-mapping work with the skeleton? I know that you showed the addition of new bones to control deformations, but I'd be interested in seeing the weight-maps put through their paces.
Glad to see it loads in animated Pose files as well, for obvious reasons. :) Will it also load in translation data from animated poses? I didn't see that on the video.

Typically I load in the character then the cloting separately then delete the mesh covered by the clothing. The weightmapping seems to work fine when Ive tested it but I typically dont use them.
You can also create your own weight maps if you want.
Im not sure what you mean by translation data. What ive typically done is load a bvh file into poser, save the pose and then load it into LW using PLK. In LW I use iKBoost to edit the mocap.
Thanks for the answers. By translation data, I mean will a walking character actually walk forwards if the BVH file includes the forward motion (i.e. translating the character on the X, Y, and Z axes)?
The example that you demonstrated in the video had the character walking in place--though that may be because that particular pose may not have translation data written into it.
