Quote - well on the page you purchased the MFD from (since i do believe it's from DAZ) there should be in the bottom info box on the page links for pc and mac compatible texture map installers which would give you your starting point for creating the textures for the MFD
Oh wow I didn't even know that info was there when I bought it,
It says under what's included and features:
Features- 2 Dress textures (diffuse maps) (3000 x 3000)
Then under :
Resources & Information Related products: Product Installers: Morphing Fantasy Dress for Laura
Morphing Fantasy Dress for Stephanie Petite
V3 Morphing Fantasy Dress Mac File Size: 19.94Mb in 2 files
PC File Size: 18.77Mb in 2 files Texture Template Download
Notes: This product comes with a full Poser installer, as well as a full DAZ|Studio installer.
I'm not really sure what I'm looking at here.LOL On the upside, the information I do understand is "dress textures" and" Bump maps", the rest is lost on me unfortunately. Would you be able to point me in the right direction once again?
Sue
ok the texture templates are what you'll use as your guide for where to place your designs or differences in materials or colours so on and so forth the bump maps give the effect of like if you use leather the texture of that leather not too sure about displacement maps yet but with every thing i dl from daz i look for tex map dl's aswell just incase i want to make my own for my use and now so i can start making freebies till i know i can sell them

thanks for explaining that. If you don't mind, I'd like to pick your brain some more...
So the texture template is what you would start out with? I've seen them for some of the other things I've downloaded but not the MFD. I guess I'll have to look around.
In your other post you said,
"pc and mac compatible texture map installers which would give you your starting point for creating the textures for the MFD"
cant you tell me what a texture map installer is ?
Also, I was wondering how did you start to learn about making textures?
Hope you don't mind more questions. So far you're the only person who has given me some answers so I'm hounding you.;)
thanks,
Sue
lol the installer is what daz uses to get them onto your pc it's like an .exe file or .sit file(mac) that places the templates on your comp
i actually started buy doing the same type of thing in an online chat client called IMVU (instant message virtual universe i think is the full name) and then i heard about daz and well bigger and better maps to play with so i decided to give it a shot and well i've been doing pretty good so far with the ones that i liked enough to put out as freebies
you may want to look through snowsultans freebies if you can't find the maps for the MFD he may have seam guides for it you can search him in search freebies or he may even still be in the top contributors listing
i use psp7 mostly for my texturing app but i've been using genetica studio3 and a couple other programs to creat more of my own textures not to mention there are many about the freebie community that are pretty wicked
and i just went to the page for the V4 MFD and it says that it's compatible with the tex templates for the MFD V3 and snow sultan does have seam guides for that either here www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/v3-morphing-fantasy or in his freebies

Thanks for your help again.
I was wondering. Once you have the texture made, What's next step to getting it to work in the program.
again thanks

HI. I'm new to Daz studio. I have bought the "Morphing fantasy dress" for V4 and I have found some great textures for it, but now I'd like to make some of my own. Only problem is i can't seem to find help in getting started.
I know nothing about doing this.I dont' know a lot of the technical lingo. And I don't understand the process.
What I do know because of creating things for Sims 2, is how to create 3D objects in "Milkshape",
make UV maps for them with "UV mapper",
and then use "Paint shop pro X" to make textures for them.
So I dont' need any lesson on how to do any of that.
What I'm lookin for really is How do I start? If i want to make a texture for the MFD, how and where do I find the materials I need to start it?
For instance; with Sims 2, I'll use SIM PE to extract certain files from the game, then I can use them to base my texture on, and I know what I need to do to form a package to work in the game.
That's the part I'm not getting for Daz.
Most of the info I find is just about how to create the actuall texture in a paint program, and assumes you have some kind of clue what you're doing when it comes to doing all of the rest. I don't I just can't seem to get the "texturing for dummies" version I'm looking for. LOL
Please help!
Sue
