Subject: Realistic Poser 5 wishes...

We can all dream about amazing new features for Poser 5 (and some new pro pack) I'm sure...but how about some realistic wishes...here are mine: 1.#1 is a better rendering engine!! 2.Python scripts readable in Poser program..pro pack not needed(pro pack needed to write python scripts) 3.Multiple views in standard Poser program..pro pack not needed 4.Add susanna or natural pose on as part of the pro pack or as an add-on...but of course we can actually purchase these seperate ourselves..which isn't that bad of a thing... 5.in addition to a better rendering engine..have cartoon rendering as an option for final output 6.improve the manual...or include detailed tutorials on CD..video perhaps Ok thats it for me....anyone else have some realistic upgrade wishes...

I would like to see models with better morphs on the face. Can you imagine a kid who can't stick his tongue out? Or a young girl who can't crinkle her nose? There's no forrowed brow for us older folk, either. Even Vic & Mike don't have some of these. Along those lines, I'd also like to see improvement in the ability to make morphs inside Poser. I find the Magnet and Wave tools to be cryptic and hard to use. Why do they need a three-piece magnet, anyway?

Please cure this bug in IK-chain handling. The image shows my Sea Patrol man firing my ray-gun model, this time raised so he is using its sighting scope. To make aiming the gun easier, I parent it to his chest and set both his arms IK-on and IK-parent his hands to the main oart of the gun. OK as long as he was firing with the gun at chest level. But when I raised the gun to as in this image, his right wrish shattered, as in the red square in the inset. But when I switched his arm to IK-off, his wrist healed as in the main image. And when I switched his right arm to IK-on again, the wrist shattered again. It seems that when making the screen image, and IK is on, the x y z angles of the joint rHand-rForearm must be calculated afresh each time from the x y z angles of the false-joint between his rHand and the gun. And sometimes in all this trigonometry Poser gets the result 360 degrees or 720 degrees wrong, grossly distorting the joint structure. I had similar occurrences before. Unless both parts involved in the joint are rigid, it would be useful if the results could be set to between plus and minus 180 deg,

Collision detection is NOT an unrealistic wish! Why? Because Curious Labs has said several times that they ARE working on it...that's why! :)

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

O also get the impression that this conversion from angles hand-to-gun to angles hand-to-forearm, happens in two places in Poser, with somewhat different source text and somewhat different effects:- (1) When displaying on screen while that IK is on. (2) When the user switches that IK from on to off.

I'd like a small window that could hold a photo, if we were trying to make a celebrity, or, even ourselves, look-a-like. I HATE when I go to load a texture and Poser tells me, rudely, that it is already loaded. Geeze, I wish if I goofed, and loaded it twice, that Poser would just load it.

Maybe a preview thumbnail like Bryce has that shows the rendered image up in the corner so we don't have to have the Texture Shaded mode on. Also, a spray can to render sections, like in Bryce. Melanie

Solve the clothing problem. Thats NOT unrealistic. Purchase a Havok license and get on with it. This is a SUBSET of general purpose cloth simulation, and not an incredibly complexe one. Still have clothing as a seperate item/figure, simply get it to fit to morphs. I can (and will) spend days getting a Vicki character into the perfect shape with the STOCK morphs, and be assured that no clothing I own now or int he future will fit her right. That, to be nice, sucks. So there you have it :)

Simply make it faster.

3 wishes: 1) That it actually come out. 2) That it come out when I once again have a job 3) That it be affordable based on whatever said job in #2 above pays... I'd also like to see better handling of metallic textures, but that's not a priority. I'd also love to see conforming clothing read the "dial settings" of the underlying mesh when "Conform To" is selected so that any morph settings on the body that correspond to morph settings on the clothing items will be forced to match (the body or "conformed to" figure).

neurocyber ( ) posted Sat, 30 June 2001 at 11:56 AM

1)Shrink to fit clothes for figures of any morphed shape with tightness dial. 2)Lighting that gives reflections. 3)Figures that have higher resolution joints meshes.(But keep current body sculpting.) 4)Linux version. (My goal is to get my PCs out of Windows dependency in 1yr or sooner.)

I like the thought "Realistic Poser 5", they have to get somthing out the door. I'd buy it with just a better rendering engine (optional raytrace would be minimum), bug fixes and full-body-morph-runs-from-wrong-figure fix. Oh, other minimum requirement would be am special upgrade price for registerewd (CL and Metacreations) users.

If poser 4 can make light sources other than spot lights, such as for flames, and light bulbs, such as lighting the inside of a building (with complete walls and a roof) other than light shining from the outside, then never mind my wish. Other wise, this is my wish. If you can already do this, then I just don't know how. PS Yes, I'm still alive. Greeg72

I would like better support for skeletons or non human models. If you try to clothe them, the clothing becomes baggy and you have to resize the clothing by hand. Also set up the data files so Bryce can make a proper wireframe. The wireframe is almost nonexistant. All of the models should work with the sets of clothing that came with the Poser cd.
