Subject: Vue 6 extra cd load problem

brewgirlca ( ) posted Sun, 30 November 2008 at 9:46 PM · edited Sun, 22 December 2024 at 8:50 PM

When I go to VUE load objects Architecture I just get Elements, House and Cottage, Large building and Monuments and just the historical fields except for sci-fi in Large. I am missing fantasy and sci-fi in all the rest. And I am missing bridges, lighthouse and mansions folders altogether. These files are present in My VUE folder on my c-drive but VUE cannot seem them.

Also I have no procedural terrains except the one that came with VUE. I downloaded them from the extras CD put them into the correct folders but VUE does not recognize they are there.

When I use the browse button it will not let me select a folder only a file and if I select a file the description comes up but no picture in preview button. When I click on the file it says unable to read file xxxx.vobj

When I use the new collections button and click on a folder it comes back and says empty collection even if I am as far down in the root directory as possible ie arche/bridges/fantasy. But the files are there in:
directory path c:documents/e-on software/vue 6 espirit/objects/ bridges/fantasy

There is no jpgs associated with these vobj files…. Shouldn’t there be?

Are the files in the directories showing as ~~.vob?  If so, those are files that are available for puchase at Cornucopia.  If you have the ghost icon selected in any of the visual libraries, then these files will not display when using Vue, so that may be confusing you between what you see in Vue and what is in the folder.  The jpg is built into the vob files, so no - there is not a seperate jpg file.

So Peggy, we meet up here as well? Please do not take offense,  I always come to Renderosity for second opinion! Yes those are vob and yes I have ghosting turned on, it was so frustrating to click on an icon and have it pop up and say you could use if for $10.00. I really felt this was dirty trick way selling products. So are all the procedural terrains also then must purchase items? I might be interested in some but how do I turn off the ghosting in the terrains because as soon as I go to procedural it just loads the 1 standard one. I attach a partial list of terrains; can you tell me of these all need to be purchased?

It seems that the "extras cd" ... is just that extra expense that you must fork out for.
I wonder why VUE cannot just be up front about what they are doing.... probably in small print somewhere but sheesh.
Thanks as always for your quick and informative response.

Second opinions are a good idea!

I believe that the procedural terrains are on the extra CD, but they are scenes - *.vue, not *.vob.  So, once you copy the over to your computer, use the Open File icon on the top tool bar or the File menu, Open.  I don't have them installed here at work, but they are very good scenes to take apart and learn from.

I will download the extra CD and write up something on this.  This is not the first time this question has been asked!
