The Lateralus album is the only album I recommend most anyone at least pick up and give one full listen to. Its a 79 minute fricking opera of an album. For people looking for something a little more sensual, pick up A Perfect Circle's Mer de Noms (ou, qu-est-ce que je dits en francais, Sea of Names). ry

Hmmm... I don't know a lot of the music some of you have listed. I must be missing something, huh? My listening pleasures include: Creed Pearl Jam Staind Stevie Nicks Toni Braxton Dave Matthews Band Twister, City of Angels and Armageddon Soundtracks Sarah McLaughlin Alanis Varied chant CD's Varied Nature Sounds mixed with Classical music My favorite pianist at the moment George Winston A few Ozzy songs some Metallica and when not listening to CD's I have the radio on the Classic Rock channels or the cable TV on the Atmosphere's channel. I get a lot of ideas from lyrics although they would require animation to see them on a computer as they are in my head. The challenge then becomes to capture one frame of what I see in my head and have that frame hold all of the emotion.

On the subject of Massive Attack, my friend's music store has a Massive Attack singles box set of sorts, hat changes from black to white whenever heat is oin it (ie: your fingers. A couple of days this summer though, even wiuth a fan pointed on it, it was so hot it stayed permanenttly white until night). Hmm at the moment I am listening to Nine Inch Nails - Closer. Before that I was listening to NIN - The Perfect Drug. Before that, the Star Wars theme, of all things. And now (NIN finished) I'm listening to Queen - Gimme the prize. I listen to a bit of everything, really. Some of Smashing Pumkpins stuff (Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) is a definite source of inspiration. And then there's NIN, Queen, Bjork, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, some classical, Manic Street Preachers, Brian May, REM, whatever appeals to me, really. Can't work without music :) I don't know about you people, but do you 'see' music? I do. In music I often 'see' colours and shapes and patterns, sometimes entire images. I often try to capture this in photos..and the photos that mean the most to me are the ones that have been inspired by, or represents, a song or piece of music. Does that sound nuts?

Bsteph, my fave album is Purple Rain - as I've mentioned sometime b4 Darlin Nikki is my fave song of all time - but I like Parade and most of his albums up to Emancipation. I also listen to Jan-Michel-Jarre - his music is cool for chilin' too, but lately I've got back into 1980's pop - that stuff was so crass it's uplifting!!! Films? Barbarella!!!!! ALIEN series..yeah... Blade, and top of the list MATRIX. Oh, and the Batman series - Batman rocks, and can beat ANY superhero!!!! New subject : Books; Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Martin Amis (really good! read Success) and anything handy. I usually have 2 or 3 books on the go a once.... (",)

BATMAN? Aw come on...everyone knows Excalibur are the best superheroes. (Too bad they don't exist anymore) As for films, anything good, really. I don't stick to certain types of movies, I watch a little bit of everything. Just saw Chocolat a couple of weeks ago, that was a rather nice movie..and then I saw Moulin Rouge which was utter crap. And books...don't have any favourite authors really. I read a bit of everything too :-) Just finished the Red Dwarf series by Grant Naylor (well...that's what the writers call themselves anyway) and they were quite entertaining.

Oh books is it? Actually I'm way behind the gun. On this one. Classics: Hemmingway I suppose the bible is the ultimate classic so I'm toppint the list wit it. Hemmingway comes second. Homer-Illiad, Shakespere's tragedied and comedies. Who ever wrote the pit and the pendulum. I forgot. More current stuff- anything by Rodger Zelanzny Michael Morecock - Cornelius Chronicles and Corum books and Elric. Gene Wolf- Very few authors have his style. Peirs Xanth-Prolific but enjoyable generally. Heinlein, Asimov I guess just for his ideas. Richard P. Feynman, Stanislov Lem, Phillip K. Dick-why take drugs when you can just read his stuff!, Octavia Buttler, Ann Rice, Patric O'Leary, James Morrow, and last Gor novels -banned whever they are. And last but not least. Studs Trerkel. Get one of his books and peruse to your hearts desire. Jordyart- What about Graphieti (sp) Bridge, Gold, Prince-Prince and of course For You. I think his earlier stuff may have been more fun but you cold understand him less. I forgot James Brown. His live from France ablum. Favorite movies Star Wars. ( What can I say it was the first movie I saw. ), Planet of the Apes, Ben Hur, Enter the Dragon, Master of the Flying Guilotine, A Chinese Ghost Story, Heavan and Earth, Zatoichi vs Yojimbo, Blade was cool but no match for Cleopatra Jones or Jackie Brown, Matrix, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Magnum Force!! Comics- I'm taking a strong liking Planetary Society, Vintage 70's and 80's Iron Man, Superman has too much power, Vintage Green lantern is good, X-Men when Wolverine was still psychotic-just before he bacame an enlightened man. Books-- my current bedside books are Mrs. Dalloway (Virginia Woolf) and Smoke and Mirrors (Neil Gaiman). bsteph, there's an interesting story in Smoke and Mirrors with a Moorcock character (from the Elric books). I love Michael Ende's books, The Neverending Story and Momo. And Roald Dahl, Sandra Cisneros, Nabokov, and a bunch of others. My favorite comic book writers/artists are Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Dave Louapre, Dan Sweetman, Marc Hempel--- sheesh, still have a lot more to go. I read the first issue of Kabuki some time ago and it's pretty good. And the art is awesome. I forgot who did it though.

Ah yes him. I saw a graphic novel by him. Um. Wait a sec. He's currently doing Daredevil I think he's David Mack. The character in the Neil Gamain novel is it an archer? If good to see Neils novels are doing well. I was sorry to see that Chris Claremont didn't do as well. Have you tried Dave sim "Cerebus"? How can you read Nabakov, Cisneros, listen to Digweed, enjoy Grant Morison BUT not like Dave Sim "Cerebus". You are deprived. =:-( > OH. I forgot one music, one movies, one comic, and one show. The Jazz Group -The Yellojackets-Four Corners- is enjoyable by anybody!, Carlitos Way-Al pachino-Humor, strength, and a good story, Power Man-Early-mid 70's-He's big, he's mean, and he has to pay rent!, The Avengers-Far more fun than a barrel of monkeys-The start of the super suave spy, and an even smarter female lead. I've read some issues of Cerebus and I'd say they're pretty good. I wish I have read the whole thing though, so I really can't rave about it. :-) I'm deprived, indeed. The character Gaiman included in the story was this white skinned man with the Bloodsword (or something like that, I can't remember). I have yet to read Moorcock.
