Just curiosity on my part: Does anybody, besides myself, use any of my Poser 4 remapped characters?

This is a Sylvia, a new character that I'm creating for another erotic/porn comic that I intend to publish after I finish present one, with the Western motif.

Another render with Sylvia.  I spent the whole day working on the skin shader, which I adapted from a tutorial here by Iuvenis_Scriptor. DPH

I pity your poor computer, having to render all those ten of thousands of useless polygons between her toes.  ;-)

Funny that you ask, yesterday I downloaded your PosetteV3 remap, great work there, thanks =)

I'll use her for background crowded scene, but she still looks great on closeups, specially with the now available AO and IBL.

dphoadley ( ) posted Wed, 18 March 2009 at 4:25 PM

Please send me a PM when you use it.  Remappping is hard work, and it truely fills me with a sense of gratitude to see it used.

I have a huge stable of figures I use, and do NOT concentrate on any one figure.  I sometimes use the P4 figures as bg figures.  Their shoulders are a train-wreck as your first pic shows.  As long as they keep their arms by their side, they're fine.  There are just limits to the mesh and rigging.

I HATE V4 and M4 because of the %#$$@&'s at DAZ.  They have no hand controls, and they separated M4 from his willy.  I am NOT spending money to just buy a virtual COCK! it ought to be with who or what it belongs with!  Sorry for the rant.  I just used M4 and I'm still angry about it.

Anyway....between you and pitklad, you guys REALLY breathed some fresh air into ailing figures.  They have their uses, but shouldn't limit you.  I use a lot of M3 and V3's with swapped heads, and such, just because there is so much stuff for them.  Each to their own.

Off to play with Antonia, odf's new figure!  Always on the prowl for new faces and figures.

I still use Posette and the P4Guy for institutional stuff -- like right now I'm doing a series of short-short animations of exercises for a fitness company. I started working with M2, didnt like it, moved to the G2 figures, didnt like them either, finally settled on the P4 folk. Despite the shoulder problem (which I've managed to work around), they work very, very well.

I don't have the Morphs++ and can't afford them for either figure.  $20 bucks for something that SHOULD have been included from day one is inexcusable!  Almost every FREE figure has hand controls!  Daz really screwed the Poser public with the Version 4 of their figures.

This is one of the reasons why I remapped the Dork, and Use HIM for all my male characters.  Not only does hi have all his parts, but there are a whold slew of free morphs out there to make them function as G-d intended, AND he comes with a complete wardrobe gratis!
What he had lacked all this time was decent mapping and textures, and that I have corrected.  Just peruse some of my recent gallery uploads and see how well he renders using Ambient Occlusion and IBL lighting.

Some of the reasons I prefer M2 over most of the following generations of Michael.

Your remapped Dork really looks better than the original.  I just don't like most of the faces from Dork, though.  They just look creepy to me. His face has to be REALLY morphed to get away from that,IMO.  It's just a personal thing.

I'd like to start using her again at some point, maybe make some custom morphs. When I'm done with certain other projects...

I used the P4 male in this image as the alien kid because I had a soldier uniform for the character and the P4 figures can be easily resized as child figures (haven't checked if it can still be done in P7). Then I morphed him to look a little more like the greys and added a bluish tone to match the Sixus1 grey.

I don't use the P4 figures much because there's minimal support for them today. The old P4 downloads I have use the standards Poser had many years ago. That means relatively simple meshes and small texture sizes. That makes them unsuitable for most close figure uses. Wardrobe Wizard, and other clothing conversion programs, allow tranferring newer items to them. If I've already got a V3 outfit for V3, it's less hassle to simply use V3.

That doesn't mean I won't use a P4 figure again. It's more a matter of doing a project where it makes sense to use the figures rather than forcing myself to find a need for them. I haven't used the P5-P7 figures, but just bought some more outfits for them from the First Friday sale. I'll eventually get some use out of them. I don't have any specific figure preferences other than the practicality that I have more freebies and paid content for some than others that lend themselves to something I want to create.

i use most figures, but only use posette in background shots due to the horrible rubber doll with skin attached look....

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

No, they discovered the Poserverse is full of suckers.

And I'm serious. We have gotten to the point where, if DAZ says "jump", we ask "how high".

Frugality is often the source of innovation! A Rabbi in Nashville told me that decades ago at a bus-stop.  I remembered that.  I may not be Jewish, but I AM frugal and innovative out the wazoo!  Forget Daz's high-priced baubles.  I use older stuff and make it new.

One of these days, I'm also planning to remap Mike 2, thus bringing all of the older figures onto a par with V3 from the texture aspect.  I've also been considering doing Turai Yuki & Miki 2, but my plans aren't definite here.  In the meantime, My hands are full with producing my illustrated Comic-Novel.  When I've got that done, I'll see about Antonia.

Indian Dancer (Bollywood Fantasy) This work is dedicated to Mr. dphoadley and his rempapped PosettaV3. I promised to use her again: here she is, a lovley Indian Dancer. I used LTayna skin texture by Goldtassel for the very first time I think (bought in April 2003 - I must be crazy). Sari is by PoserWorld 2003, never used before. I havbe so many items from Poserworld, most of them conform to Posetta and Victoria1, time to use this old stuff instead of buying and buying new items. CecileHair by Bice. Background photo is from a friend who visited India 2 years ago.

visit my gallery to see a fullsize image :) - more to come ...

Hope you like it.
many thanks for your efforts :)
