Try Apple's site - if they don't have it on the main page for XP, try a search on their site, they usually have legacy versions available.

For an older OS

Navigate to the apple.com page (in my post above) to download quicktime using your 64-bit Internet Explorer.
Only then will you be able to download the 64-bit quicktime (it's still a 32-bit program, but it plays nice with 64-bit OS).  Hopefully this helps.

Or you could just get quicktime alternative codec from here:

Yes, absolutely.
I have Windows XP Pro x64 bit and can play Quicktime, AVI and WMP files....besides other types too. 😉

Hi,
Thanks everyone for the info.
I still cannot get Quicktime to play.
I tried installing both Quicktime and the alternative Quicktime.
Is it possible that I need to update my video drivers?

So what error do you get when you try to install (if any) or play the video? And what player are you trying to use ? Did you try that media player classic thing that alt. quicktime installs ?

Also note that you can't use any 64 bit player or tool to work with quicktime as it is 32 bits. Only 32 bit ones will work, even if you run them under XP 64.

I have Quicktime installed on Vista 64 Business and it works fine. I didn't do anything special but just downloaded and installed.

Thanks so much nightfall.
I have very little system skills.
Once I have downloaded the update, is it ok to just click and install it?
I wonder why it did not get that update on it's own.
Again, I really appreciate your help.

Yes you just need to double-click and install.
It will take quite sometime though and you will need to reboot at the end.
