Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 22 10:18 pm)
What am I doing wrong? Is it a graphics card or driver thing? Or is it a simple setting (hold breath)?...
Thanks in advance,
Laurie
I DO have AO in the scene. I have to admit I don't know much about it, except that it makes the lighting look better somehow.
Is there something I have to change in the AO settings?
LukeA: thanks for the link. Gives me a bit more understanding of the settings and what they do :o).
Thanks everyone for the help thus far.
Laurie
You only need to enable use displacement maps if you are using them in the scene, otherwise it is a waste.

AO requires raytracing switched on, but it does not require any bounces.
It looks to me like your AO bias setting is too low. On a bumpy skin, this will produce self-shadowing.
Suggest change your scene AO settings to:
Samples: 8
Max distance: leave it as it is.
Bias: try 0.1 inches (the "inches" is important. If you don't use inches in Poser, you need to convert this value).
(edit) the "scene AO" options are on the light properties, in case you didn't know.
