Make sure your screen size is big enough to see all of Poser's parts. 😄

Is anyone using this one anymore?
800 x 600 ???  👎___ No, not big enough.

Dr Geep recommends a minimum recommended screen size of 1024 x 768. 👍

Note - This class will be using a screen size of 1280 x 1024.

The first time we start Poser, we see a figure named Simon.

Let's make a simple pose by clicking and dragging on one of Simon's body parts.

What's that? The legs won't move? ... Hmmm ... let's find out why.

Pssssst ... It's called "Inverse Kinematics" (IK) ... Next ... 😄

Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"

Inverse Kinematics (IK) is used to change the "parent" of the "arms," i.e., hands and the "legs," i.e. feet.

Normally, the hand is "parented" (controlled by) the forearm ... and the feet are "parented" to the shin ... when IK is OFF.

When IK is ON, the hands and/or feet are "parented" (move with) the "Body" and not the forearm or shin.

Don't try to understand all about IK right now ... just know how to control it.

Where is Poser's "Floor?" ... Next ... 😄

Before we find Poser's "Floor" ... let's look at the graphic above and see how we can move the camera using the Camera's "Trackball" ... or ... if we *click & drag* on one of the Camera's Parameter dials.

Now ... let's read ...

"The Tale of The Three Little Axes, X, Y, and Z" - (axis is singular - axes is plural)

The X Axis runs through the Poser Universe from the left when it's negative, e.g., -1.000, to the right when it is positive, e.g., 1.000 and when it is neither negative nor positive, e.g., 0.000, it is exactly in the center.

The Y Axis runs through the Poser Universe from above the "Floor" when it is a positive value, e.g., 1.000, to below the "Floor" when it is a negative value, e.g., -1.000 and when it is 0.000 (zero) it is on Poser's "Floor."

Note - We can use the [menu] "Figure" >>> "Drop to Floor" (Ctrl+D) to place a figure or a prop on the "Floor" so if Simon is "floating" after he gets posed ... here's how we can bring him back down to the "Floor" (zero on the Y Axis).

The Z Axis runs through the Poser Universe from the front when it is positive, e.g., 1.000, to the back when it is negative, e.g., -1.000, and is in the center when it is 0.000 (zero).

Now, back to the Main Camera ... We can use the Trackball to rotate the Main Camera around the center of the Poser Universe (where X, Y, and Z are all equal zero)  ... or ... use the "Dolly" parameter dials to pan the Main Camera right/left (X) , up/down (Y), and front/back (Z).

Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"

What figure do you want to get into your workspace?

Is the Figure you want to use in your Figure's Library?

Dr, Geep.
  Your most welcome.
Camille works during the week. So she most likly she will not be back here till then.

When I first started Poser. I became so tired of deleting the characters when such as Simon. sO I just deleted him, and saved as blank., so I could just place the figure that I wanted. I had Camille do the same. I also told her, she can click onto the Poser.exe and that she will have Simon back. :-(.   I wish I could do a remote control with her. we tried once before but had trouble doing so.I've done this before with no problem, but I have Xp and they have Vista, and for some reason won't let me.
